  ╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗Eventually the green plants covered the forest floor, grass cropping up. Moss grew on the tree trunks, though the tops of the trees were still bare and covered with snow and ice. Soon enough the sound of birds could be heard and Alexander came into view. He was sitting on a fallen log, his coat draped over it. His hands were cupped in front of him and he seemed to be holding a strange hodgepodge of flowers, butterflies, and even a hummingbird. ╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

She stopped when she saw him, and she stuck her hands in her back jean pockets. She sighed, and the corners of her mouth turned up slightly in a smile. ╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗Alexander smiled at her. "This is the lighter side." He said. "Well, not all of it of course, there's many more, but I figured we'd start small." He said. The living creatures in his hand sat unusually still, the hummingbird actually watching Danny, and something was off about the butterflies. Their bodies seemed larger and straighter than they should have been. Alexander watched them for a moment. "I believe if you compliment them they'll show themselves." He said quietly, keeping an eye on what was in his hand. "They aren't used to other people actually being able to even make it into this part of the woods, so they're a little nervous."╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

She knelt slowly to see them better, and she couldn't help but smile when she said, "Well, they are beautiful." ╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗The little creatures stirred slightly, as did the various flowers and plants. The hummingbird was the first to drastically change however, as it's head tipped back and a different head appeared out of its throat, looking up at Danny quizzically. At the same time the birds breast split and opened. Once this was done, it seemed painfully obvious that this had never been a bird. The little person now standing on Alexanders finger put it's hands on its hips and stared at Danny. It was a little man, about the height of the finger he was standing on. His skin was a blue hue, much to match the color of sunlight glinting off of a hummingbirds feathers, and his eyes were completely black. He was dressed in a dark green, to match the leaves around him, and on his hip was a tiny sword. After a moment of staring, the tiny hummingbird-esque wings, apparently the only genuine thing in the bird disguise, began to buzz and he flew up face to face with the girl, leaning in close to apparently look into her eyes. After a second of this, he flitted back to Alexanders hand and began nudging the butterflies and flowers, a high pitched tinkling, like the toll of a tiny bell, evidence that he was speaking. As he nudged the other things, they began shedding their disguises as well, petals becoming skirts, carapaces becoming a kind of clothing. In total about seven little beings exposed themselves, each blending quite perfectly with whatever they were wearing as a disguise. Five seemed to be female while the hummingbird and one particularly large butterfly were male. Alexander smiled at them. "Piskies." He said, giving them a name.╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

Her eyes grew wide as the little man transformed and as he flew she held her breath, watching him come closer until she couldn't look at anything but him, he was so close. She leaned back as he flew away and then leaned in as they all changed, and she smiled silently. She kept quite until Alexander explained, and she finally sat down on the ground, looking up into the little bouquet of the little creatures. "Pixies?" she asked quizzically, looking from him to the creatures. ━━━━━━━━ × ━ × ━ × ━━━━━━━━ Who am I with ? -- Alexander

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗"Pixie, piskie, pigsy, they're all a way to refer to these little creatures." Alexander said. He looked around at the plants arou d them. "Of course this is just a handful of scouts. No pun intended." Alexander said. "If they say you're okay, I figure the rest of the colony will come out." He said. He listened [as one of the females stood on his palm and began to speak, her voice sounding a tad aggitated as she put her hands on her hips. Alexander rolled his eyes, smiling. "I promise she isn't here to steal any secrets." He said. The little girlooked at him suspiciously and crossed her arms before flitting to come face to face with Danny, though not as close as the other's been. She twittered something and waited for Danny to respond. Alexander lead towards her. "She wants to know what your clothes are made of." He said.╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗The little piskie flew upwards, into some vines hanging from the trees that had the same kind of flowers she'd been pretending to be on them. "They're quite vain." Alexander said in explanation as more little heads peeked out from the vines. Suddenly it seemed there were small movements all around the little area of spring. Heads poking out, flowers becoming dresses, a few even flew above where they'd been hiding cautiously.╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

They were so full of life and beautiful, she couldn't take her eyes off of them. After a moment she looked over at Alexander, who was sitting down. She finally picked herself up and walked over to him, gently letting herself sit down beside him. She sighed lightly before asking, "Have they always lived in this forest? He said as a few more flew up, a couple coming over to them curiously. Alexander held his hands out and they alighted on them gently.╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝

"They're actually the reason I knew you were being attacked in the lake. I figure they're hibernating at the moment." He said thoughtfully. He'd never seen a Nixie out in the winter. "And now that I think about it, they're probably back in the lake now that those Naiads are gone."he added

Memories from that frightening day drifted back into memory, and Danny looked down for a moment. It was hard swallowing the fact that it was a near death experience for her. Naiads? That sounded familiar. And nixies... she wasn't sure what those were, but she remembered the word. "Alexander... what exactly happened that day?" she asked quietly, looking back at him. She could only remember swimming, getting pulled under, and then seeing those... those, things. ╔══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╗"Naiads tried to drown you." Alexander said with a sigh. "They do it for fun. They find the frailty of human life hilarious." He said. "Normally they live in the ocean, but these three migrated, I haven't figured out why yet but it was probably a clan dispute." He said. "I happened to be taking a walk and noticed the youngest of the Nixies who normally occupy that lake in the pond. She told me that her sisters had gone to get help to get rid of the Naiads who'd taken their home and I told her I'd check it out. You know what happened after that." He said with a slight shrug. He sighed. That was hardly solidifying the idea that his world wasn't necessarily a bad one.╚══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╝
