Now, she was in the darkness once more. But the light emerged, Lacie walking to the source. Their faces were shadowed, yet grins remained on their lips. Only darkness surrounded them, snaking up their legs, its tendrils threatening to ensnare whoever came close to it into its insanity. There was something.. strange to them. But the little reaper didn't notice, her hand reaching out for their outstretched hands.

But as she reached out, a similarly blue dressed figure burst forth, covering Lacie's eyes and drawing her back. "Return back to whence you came." With that said, she drew back her hands and disappeared.

Lacie's eyes regained their clarity.. remembering that this was not the house where she once resided. This was not the past. These events were long over. She was in the future, battling with her friends.

She awoke, jarred, coming back to the destruction of the battle field.

- 1- 20: You realize almost immediately something is wrong, and pull away as quick as you can. The effects of the Insanity on you is weaker, thankfully. You are inflicted with the INSANITY STATUS EFFECT FOR ONE IC DAY: please note if your student is a guest student, it only carries over till the end of the meta before the effect fades away. This is NOT a permanent status effect, this is only temporary.

(( Insanity Status Effect: You start to hear voices, but are not able to really -understand- what they're saying, your insecurities are suddenly like gaping wounds, sensitive to the least amount of friction or suspicion, paranoia ))

Ulmuka had been trapped in an neverending fesitival with his friends. No memory of home had been happy enough and his moment of peace rested with his friends at Amityville.

The strix was slow to snap out of it as his festival dissolved away around him until only the harsh reality of the current moment hit him in full effect. He found himself on the ground, standing near Ev.

The strix was having a hard time, depicting reality from the vision. Why would he desire this harsh reality. The other had been so calm, comfortable. Nice...

It didn't change the fact that a massive phoenix was heading for Amityville. The only place he belonged. It was enough to snap him into reality.

Every little whisper, every little murmur made by the vessel-less horsemen was becoming quieter and all that Mercedes could hear was Hadjoc. He was saying things the same why he always did, but she could understand almost all of what he was trying to say.

And the longer that he egged her on, Mercedes felt something building in her chest... a laugh? Howling out with the most uncharacteristic cackle, Mercedes was firing rounds from Hadjoc in every which direction in the sky, shooting down little birds that... were definitely not there. They fell in heaps around her until she could finally see the gigantic one again soaring overhead.

"Hadjoc, we should stop it don't you think? Sound tasty enough? I'll let you have as much of it as you want-"

Uoy era OOT yrgnuh ton era uoy bmal elttil?

Mercedes felt a sudden ping of nausea and covered her face for a moment taking a deep breath. "Wait I think its trying to... unnngh... Hadjoc are you... ready?" Taking a slow but shaky breath Mercedes prepared herself and took aim, Hadjoc squealing in her head. Just as she was about to fire though, she began to burst with laughter once more. "HAAAAAAaaahahahaa-"

YDAERLA TI ETSAT NAC I TOOHS, BMAL ELTTIL, TOOHS!!

Finally the bowguns launched a fury of arrows that was satisfactory enough. Mercedes panted, still trying not to laugh. "Look at it... flying around so stupid... SO STUPID HAHHAH!"

For a moment emerging from her fast evolving dreamscape, Wylfenne realised that the Phoenix was definitely moving towards the portal to Halloween. He should be stopped! With a cry of rage and insanity the fae made a blind mindless attack.

Do they say that only the mad can fight the mad? It looked like it workd, and the Phoenix, hurt and confused, made several steps back.

Now that was a good piece of news! So whatever happens to her, the threatening mysterious power that was hidden in the bird, could still be turned back! The fae smiled a broad and wide grin, suddenly snapping out of their melancholy nostalgia. If they can fight, then fight they would, and it made them feel alive again.

But it was over, at least for now. Shenny watched powerlessly as the phoenix wings reformed themselves, thousands of faces and bodies, the whole people, took a flight heading towards the portals... looking for Home.

The Phoenix was heading to the Halloween portal, and it took her quite a while to realize the consequences. Their real, actual home is in danger: if the phoenix makes it through the portal (which Shenny wasn't sure is possible), its insanity would ruin the whole town. They could not let it happen.

Shenny tried to attack the bird trying to keep it out of the portal: Jack, why didn't it choose the other portal, the one that hunters were using?... But it was useless: the sorceress was too weak, too traumatized spiritually; her fear was weak, as wee her movements. She could only watch helplessly as the bird completely ignored her pathetic attempts.

Shenny looked around only to find other students standing frozen. "Hey! Anyone! We should keep it away from the portal! From our home!"

Something was wrong. Aurian slowed to a halt. The figure in white gestured her onwards, no longer speaking but the set of shoulders and tilted head spoke volumes, as did the sharper movement when Aurian ignored the waving hand. The memories began to play again, but Aurian frowned and pulled back. The mists... there was something she ought to remember...

And abruptly it flooded back. That scene had been fake. Aurian had been in the mists back then, too. The mists of Insanity.

A memory slapped her in the face: facing off against a boil in the middle of the island fogs, voices convincing each of them that the other was going to kill them.

This, then, was also a fake. The figure, the crossroads, the promise of being led home. It was a lie! The only place the figure was leading her was further into the mists.

Even here, when Aurian called for her scythe, it obeyed. The familiar weight and cool metal in her hands had Aurian even more certain - such a contrast to her hazy surroundings. She swung one of the bladed ends through the impatiently gesturing figure in white. It swirled away like white vapour.

Aurian stepped backwards and suddenly her vision began to clear. The mist and its illusions faded and Aurian was left on the broken island, surrounded by others... and with the giant phoenix heading for two portals.

This thing, no... no, this was no child. This was no-- reality began to shift around her, to shift like a dream while you struggled to wake, and with a sudden yelp she pulled away. The ghoul collapsed to the ground, panting hard as voices whispered in her ears. Her head snapped side to side, up and down, trying to locate the source.

No source? No source. She covered her chest suddenly, curling into a little ball... and began to laugh. Oh, Jack, oh, Jack... the tears came again and she leaped to her feet. Screw you, giant Insanity bird! Seriously, screw you!

Wait..no..don't leave me! Were the first thoughts that crept into Zurine's mind as the insanity pulled away, it was like a gaping hole left behind in her heart..she had been close..so very close to that happy place in her past and she wanted to be there, she certainly wasn't supposed to be here..it was like being torn in two and the rambling voices in her head prodding and poking and babbling things she couldn't understand certainly weren't helping her any.

And she was pretty sure that everyone around here was out to get her in fact those who might look like fellow students were probably hunters in disguise and she veered away from them warily, staggering through the area holding her head and attempting to find some semblance of the peace she had felt only a few moments ago.

Quiet and secure, not much worried about what the future would bring. Everything was okay. Everything was okay, she was just going home -

going home -

going home -

- wasn't she home? She was home, lying quietly on the floor in Sammy's room, a loop on repeat. She never had to leave this moment of peace. It was all right. She could just keep walking -

walking -

walking -

- if she was home, peaceful, quiet, lying on the floor, how was she walking also? Siddie whimpered, uncertain.

It's okay, the voices said. You don't have to think any more. You are home, going home.

"It's okay," Siddie whispered, and lapsed back into that moment of peace, her resolve fading again. It felt so good, the warmth of affection and security so sweet. She stroked Ixxy's head, petting -

petting -

petting -

- no, the scareon was on the bed beside her mistress, and Siddie was reading a magazine, but hadn't she just been stroking Ixxy, smiling at the scareon and enjoying the little mini's presence? Everything was happening again. Happening again.

Happening -

- no, this was all wrong. The memory repeated itself again, but Siddie struggled out of it, her heart aching for that simple moment of belonging. She wanted to stay. She wanted so badly to stay, to let the whispers wash over her in a soothing tide and just not think.

Not thinking was the most dangerous thing she could do right now. No. No. "NO!" Siddie shouted, and found herself still tumbled in a heap on the grass where she had collapsed after the island fell.

The phoenix hung overhead, drifting towards the portals that stood opposing one another. Siddie pushed herself to her feet, wavering. She was crying now, helpless little shivering sobs. No, she had to go home - and to go home, they had to drive away the Insanity.

Smiling, Jordan watched the kids playing -

- there was something he had - something he had forgotten? Something tugged at the back of his mind, reminding him that he was alone -

- no, his brother and his cousins were -

- alone in his head in this memory, because this was a memory, and the presence in his mind had a name, and he was one part of an inextricably intertwined whole, now, and never alone again.

He was not fifteen and far more tired than any teenager should be. He was twenty-one, and he was a Hunter, and Ferros was with him and always would be, even if he couldn't hear the dragon's voice right now.

He shook himself out of the trance-state, looked up at the ashen phoenix overhead, and flipped it the bird. "Get out of my head," he growled at it. "There's only room for two of us in here."

She was going back to Amityville. To home. She wasn’t exactly sure what this white figure had to do with it, but it seemed to know the way back. She’d be back soon…

A raspy voice called out to her, and her lips pulled into a hopeful smile briefly before it faltered. Wait. There was a warning edge to that tone, one that she was most sensitive to since she tried everything in her power to avoid it. Hel faltered, pausing in her step. That voice didn’t seem to be coming from the direction she was heading it, and the hand on hers was still insistent, tugging her forwards. That voice should be coming from ahead of her…but it wasn’t.

Her brows furrowed, and she looked back over her shoulder. That was where the voice was coming from. Back where the hunters were. Where that bird created from the destruction of the Isles was. It was calling to her though. The valkyrie was jerked as the hand tugged on hers once more. No…no. That raspy voice wasn’t coming from that way. Hel pulled her hand from the figures. It was a warning tone. Not to keep going this way. That even though returning meant dealing with hunters and this creature…that was where she needed to be.

Hel only hesitated for a moment longer before she spun on her heel and tore back through the fog. She needed to be where that voice was, even if the journey to get back to it would be longer.

Her spear was back in her hand as the vibrant blue of the sky pierced her eyes. The valkyrie swayed as her other hand reached up to shield them for a moment, and murmurs filled her mind. Ugh. It was like being at the crossroads still but…but she was back, and it was time to do something about it.

It wasn't right. The memory was replaying over and over in his head but it just seemed...off. Wrong in some way that he couldn't quite place. Was he really going home? The warmth and comfort he was feeling was hard to ignore, though he wanted to. He wanted to pull away, to pull back, but it was hard. It was nice here. No it wasn't, this was not right. But it was, it was home, it was what he wanted.

NO!

He was able to pull out, finally, and found himself back in that fog, but it was different now. There was something whispering in the back of his head and he tried to shake it away. Were those voices coming from the fog? They must be, because there was no way they were coming from inside his head, right?

His eyes were darting around. There were enemies, they were everywhere. He knew they were there. They were coming for him...no! No, they were coming for Yin! They were going to take the boil away from him. Red rimmed Alex's eyes as his gaze shifted around restlessly. He needed to find the other boil, if he wasn't already dead.

"Yin?" His voice was hoarse, quiet compared to the sudden onslaught of noise from the others as slowly, everyone else was also brought out of their dreams of home. An aching sadness tightened in Alex's chest. Gone, everyone he cared about, he had left them behind. Yin..the weremantis was going to leave him too. He knew it now, it was what made sense, it explained how weird the other boil was being.

Alex was going to be alone.

The tears spilled over, and he wiped them furiously away. Fine then. Let them leave. He didn't need anyone.

The steady ache in his chest said otherwise, but he chose to ignore it.
