Arachne's head snapped upwards - had that been Sepheran's voice? She moved a little away from the group and shouted his name, straining to hear an answer after she did so, unaware that he was being attacked.

(( Profile tiem!))

The darkness that penetrated through Astra's mind was absolute, robbing her of every sense and weighing down on her body until she was unable to move. But even through this darkness, she felt something else. Like her body was floating...was she flying? no.. It felt more like she was being carried somewhere.

Some time later, The fairy opened her eyes. They were unfocused, their usual brightness replaced with a dull imitation of their original color. Not only that, but her wings had to look of a wilted flower; Crinkled and fragile looking, as if touching them would cause them to crumble away into the wind. Not to mention that she was so pale, one would think she was almost dead. The illusion of her staff being cut in half had taken a heavy toll on the reaper, and because she was unable to summon her weapon here, she still believed she had lost it for good.

The first thing her conscious mind was able to confirm that she was indeed being carried by someone. The warmth that she felt through her body was a godsend. How long had it been since she had been so warm? Groggily she looked up to see who held her and was startled to see it was Petro. He...had been carrying her? Her cheeks managed to retain some color now, and she felt a deep gratitude for the boil. She would have to find some way to pay him back for his kindness...

wait a sec...

Petro was Alive?!

Her mind sent her back to that awful nightmare, of seeing him and everyone else being slashed into pieces by that reaper, and she shuddered at the horrible images that raked through her mind. Was it all a illusion? She looked about and saw that Riley and Malodore were okay too, as well as...

The fairy suddenly yelped, scrambling to get out of Petro's arms and ended up falling to the ground in a heap. She didn't get up immediately though, and when she did she was only able to get to her knees, her movements very sluggish. The fairy looked up Jericho with wide, terrified eyes, and tried to crawl away from the dragon. It was then her hands touched something metallic, and she looked to see it was her flashlight. Her flashlight? how did it get here? She crawled a little further to find her other belongings on the floor as well. She must have lost her bag when she was caught with that reaper...but then wouldn't her stuff be back there? Thankfully the items were in a close proximity, including the map pieces she had been finding every now and then..except that for some reason, there appeared to be more of them.

As she reached to pick up the last piece, A foot slammed down in front of her and onto the paper. She flinched, slowly looking up but already knowing who it was.

Jericho towered over her, a low growl rumbling in his throat as he glared down at Astra with angry eyes...although even in her weakened state, she could tell there was something off about them. It didn't matter much now though, as this Jericho was looking like he was roasting to roast her fairy butt. Again

"You stupid faerie" He growled at her. "Are trying to steal my belongings again?"

'n-no.." she stuttered, her scared voice barely above a whisper "t-thats..."

"MY MAP PEICE!" The doppelganger roared, and Astra cowered on the floor, holding herself as tears began to stream from her eyes.

"I'm s-s-sorry..." she choked out.

But he didn't seem to be listening. In fact, he seemed so angry that snoke was coming from his mouth again. "I told you what would happen if I found you stealing from me again..."

"no...p-please...don't hurt me again..I beg of you" She began to sob as a cruel laugher echoed in her ears

THUD!

Clearly not looking where you were going had its disadvantages, or maybe he had assumed the figures in front of him (familiar though they seemed) had only been illusions of the fog. Either way, it was with a resounding thud that he had crashed into something very solid, tumbling to land sprawled out on the ground.

"Owww..."

A hand went to his head, what had he hit? A rock? No, it had felt very different than a rock, it had felt...organic. What the...

"Jericho?"

His eyes focused in the haze, finally settling on the figure of the other dragon. He was back with the group? They were all alive, they hadn't killed each other? His gaze shifted from person to person uncertainly, he was certain their eyes had not looked like that before.

"Are you real?"

Are we enjoying ourselves? A familiar voice asked

'n-nooo" Astra wailed, unable to see where the reaper was hiding

Well then... he mused in her head We certainty can't have that...

The scene then suddenly changed, and what she saw next...well...even Astra knew this couldn't be real

Was...that really...was he really?

At any rate, there was plenty of flowers, and sunshine, and rainbows. And there was definitely a jericho, whom appeared rather happy as he skipped through a giant field of them

'Tiptoe, through the window' He sung in a higher then normal voice

"....I can't unsee..." It was like a train wreck. It was so bad...yet she couldn't look away

Are you enjoying yourself now? The reaper asked

"...no...." Honesty, she wasn't that sure

My my, aren't we being fussy today... And as soon as it had started, it was over, and she was again faced with a pissed off dragon, whom seemed to have seen the scene as well, for he wasted no time in letting lose of a plume of flame over the fairy.

Astra would of screamed in pain, however because she was so weak, she ended up crying out instead, rolling around on the floor trying to put out the flames. "No, noo!. p-please stop, it hurts...it hurts!"

A small chuckle. I think I may have overdone myself this time...

Draven had begun walking down the path to the lighthouse...he didn't know how long ago. One moment it seemed like it had been forever, the next, only moments. The fog was all there was. As far as he could tell, he was still on a path, though if it was the right one he wasn't sure. Sometimes, he thought he could hear other students, but he never did see any. Not at first, anyway.

He lumbered along, his flashlight of little help in the fog. He wasn't one to panic. In fact, when this started, it had almost been fun. but after a while, or perhaps no time at all (he couldn't tell), it had begun to be considerably less fun. With each moment, he felt a little bit more alone, and a little farther from making it home. As this feeling set in, he started to feel more and more unsettled. Perhaps he should have made sure to stick with a group? Not that it would have helped much, he thought, with all this fog.

There! What was that? Voices? Whispers? It had to be other students, right? He knew there were other beings on the island...but surely they wouldn't be so chatty. Draven stopped, trying to pinpoint the voices. They seemed to be coming from everywhere. The fog itself, almost.

If he could find the voices, he could find the other students. He could finally be out of this smothering fog. Over that way?

Can you see me?

The voice was odd...not like anything he'd ever heard before. Considering he lived in Halloween, that was a bit of a surprise. It could have been a student, "Who are you? Where are you?"

I can see you.

What does that mean? "Where are you?" He turned, shining he flashlight arou--wait. Where did his flashlight go?

Can you see me? I can see you.

"Who are you? Where are you?" Draven asked again. "I can't see you. Where are you?" He wanted out of this fog. The other student, if that's who it was, was not helping. Of course, if he had his flashlight--he reached for his bag, surely he'd put it in there. Only his bag wasn't there. Where...where had that gone?

Can you see me?

"No. I can't see you. Where are you? Why don't you tell me where you are?" No help. No help at all. He was here, wherever he was, without any of his supplies, lost in the fog with a student who was simply asking him stupid questions. Things...things were not fun anymore.

I can see you. You are lost. And you will never be able to find me. Or your way out. Or anything else.

"What?" That didn't make any sense. Wh-why wouldn't he be able to find his way out? There were others here. Therefor, he couldn't be that lost. "Where are you?"

No answer.

"Where are you? Who are you?"

Again no answer. The mist swirled. Draven thought he saw--was that his pack? It had to be. He walked over and picked it up. It was empty. "What? Where, how?"

Lost.

"Huh? Who are you? What do you mean? Why won't you help me?"

No answer.

What was going on? Was he being toyed with? Who was playing this game? Why did they take his stuff? Why won't they talk? Why was he here in this mist, alone? What was he doing here? Where did this mist all come from? Draven sank to his knees. What was going on? He was lost. He couldn't find what he was looking for. He couldn't see it. He couldn't find anything. He was looking for...what? The mist was here.

"I can see you," he said to the mist. That had been who was talking. Not a student. There were no more students. Just him and the mist. He sat on the ground, holding his pack. "I can see you."

The mist swirled around him. It had been here, always. He'd been here, always, too. That was the way it had alwa--what was that? There was a piece of paper. It was...it was his map piece. Right, he'd found that after...after he wasn't sure. But he'd had more of them.

The mist swirled again. There were more...more pieces. That was wrong. He'd not had that many. Where, why, what was going here? Draven reached out to grab another piece. He couldn't. He couldn't grab them. "Why?" he asked. Why couldn't he touch them? Why was he trying to grab them? Why did he want them? He couldn't remember.

He reached out again and found...what was that? Oh. It was his flashlight. Right. That helped, that helped to see things. He turned it on. It revealed nothing. Only the mist, only the pieces of the map that weren't his. No...he'd had more pieces. Where were they? Draven got to his feet, one hand clutching his bag, and the other his flashlight. He'd been collecting the pieces. He should keep trying. The map would help. It would help him find his way out of the mist. He wanted out of the mist.

Draven clutched what of his belongings he had, as he reached searched for his missing map pieces. Whenever he found a solid piece, he kept it.

((ooc: You guys have no idea how happy I am for the Rilodore ship being saved *w* my heart was breaking over the exchange, NGL))

Petro had tried to pretend he wasn't hurt. The operative word here being tried. He'd schooled his features into a smile at Riley's earlier query regarding his limp, one that was convincing enough that he wasn't injured. Or so he thought, believing that the mindflayer didn't press the issue because of his answer rather than all the events that happened afterward. While his face showed no hints that he was in pain, his gait wasn't as fast as it had been earlier and he was slightly favoring his uninjured leg.

It caused him to lag behind.

Their group was getting bigger by the second and Petro was taking great comfort in that. He liked being in big herds. It reminded him of home. He would have volunteered to carry Lizzy and the pink-haired boil she and Mac arrived with but others beat him to the punch.

It was then that Astra woke and jumped from his arms. This wouldn't have upset him, if it weren't for the fact she was in the midst of a hallucination. He knelt down, arms outstretched, trying to get a hold of the fairy, "Astra! Astra! Y' gotta snap out of it! 'S not real!" He reminded her. Oh Jack, if she didn't wake from the visions soon they risked getting left behind.

Had this been in any other situation, Petro would have let the group go on ahead and stayed with the fairy until she woke. But with the fog and all the tricks it plays on their minds he didn't want to risk being alone.

Admit it. You don't want her alone with you. You try to play at being the noble-hearted warrior because you know deep down, in your true heart, you're the cowardly traitor that brings about your clan's demise.

"Y' know what? Y' think too highly of me," Petro sneered to the unseen voice before scooping up the flailing fairy and following after the group.

Hearing the familiar voice, Jericho looked to see that it wasn't a reaper that had attacked him. It was just Sheridan. Blinking at the other dragon, he started to try and untangle himself from him so they could both get up.

"I'd hope that I'm real," he said with a faint grin, "Glad to see you're back. But we better get moving. Don't want to get left behind."

Dusting himself off, he glanced around at the others, spotting Malodore and Riley further ahead. It looked like Mal had finally come to his senses regarding Riley. Thank Jack for that.
PostPosted: Wed Mar 23, 2011 9:13 am

Now that he was no longer seeing stars, Sheridan looked up at the other dragon, his own rear still firmly on the ground. He was real, really real, right? He had to be, why would a nightmare that had only tormented with the horror of utter emptiness suddenly show him a living being now?

Finally, the dragon nodded, feet planted to push himself to stand upright.

"I'm just glad we're all still alive."

Had he expected them to be otherwise? He wasn't sure anymore. Nothing he saw here seemed real, was he even here now? Where any of them? Real or not however, not getting left behind seemed like a good idea. Maybe together they could finally reach the lighthouse, it couldn't be much further could it?

"That's always a good thing. I don't think I'd like being a dracolich all too much," he said. Then, remembering what he was trying to do before he was knocked over, he looked around, but saw that Mac had taken over there. Lizzy looked like she was alright at the least... though Mac's method to move Charlie was... interesting.

Nodding to Sheridan once more, he went and picked up the pace so that they wouldn't be too far behind all the rest.

"Oooh I see why you're so insistent on staying with the others. You're too weak to be on your own. You really are pathetic."

"You're lucky you don't have a face or I'd punch it in ages ago," growled Jericho under his breath.

(( I AGREE WITH HUNI OVER THE RILODORE OAO FOREVER. ))

Mac watched that damned Purple thing wave around a dying flashlight. Hrm...he hadn't really used his flashlight a lot, had he? For a moment he considered offering it to them to help with the stragglers, however Jericho's flaming bat was brought up and in the end, it just seemed like the better idea. So he kept silent on his full battery flash light, and waited impatiently for the group to move.

Then, of course, he heard Lizzy muttering something.

Awesome? Yes, he was awesome.

Could do without the 'Puppy' thing, though.

Black eyes rolled when she went on to gush about the Dragon, casting a slight 'Hey Jericho, you have a fan club' into the mist...and then being the wonderful carrier he was, decided to jostle the girl to either get her to wake up, shut up, or at least change the subject. As he made sure at least he was comfortable, he cast a glance at the Demoness - Riley, he assumed, though he didn't much care to remember, learn or recall her name - to make sure she wasn't going to forget Charlie.

Ears perked when he heard his name in the fog and, like Arachne, responded in kind, yelling Sepheran's name into the darkness. His call was met with the sounds of battle. Well, Jack. They had stayed in one place for so long as is, and the Reaper was started to get antsy (also, Lizzy wa sgetting heavy dear jack he'd have to bring this to her attention when she woke up). Now that he had heard Sepheran though, he didn't want to leave him behind.

"You guys, go on ahead." He decided after a moment of thought. "I'll stay here and wait for Sepheran." Which meant Lizzy was going to stay back too, unless the stupid girl woke up. "Just...leave a trail in the ground to follow, I saw you do it earlier." Black eyes rested on the Plague Doctor this time, having seen the trailing hoof marks in the ground while just standing around here. That would be the best way, right? Just...hope that the illusions didn't go as far as hoof prints in the dirt.

She was far too tired to wake up, even when she was shifted around; she did, however, stayed silent for a while... Until she heard Sepheran's voice calling her name. That prompted her to groan as she hugged Mac tighter, muttering something incoherent under her breath. She was still sleeping, but it wasn't that deep a sleep; she just hadn't woken up yet because she was so worn out from before... Sometimes, she thought she could hear what the students around her were saying, but it was difficult to tell if the voices really belonged to them, or were a figment of her imagination.

"Sepheran..." She forced herself to open her eyes a crack, being awake long enough to hear Mac say something about staying behind for Sepheran. She smiled as her eyes closed again, "Thanks, puppy... Sorry... Put me down...?"

It must be tiring, having to carry her; although she appreciated it, she wasn't sure if Mac could last. Besides, if something attacks them now, she would be pretty useless... She didn't want to be left behind - it was a thought that had always scared her - but if needed...

"Down..." She muttered again, pushing against the Reaper's shoulders with what little strength she has.

Sepheran curled up...gone...everything was gone. There was nothing...nobody...he was alone. What use were eyes when you couldn't look at others with them? No....if this was what seeing brought him he would rather be blind...he'd rather go back to the darkness again.

Lifting his arm he watched as his nails grew sharp. One quick stab...one stab and he would be back in the darkness...slowly Sepheran began to bring his nails closer to his eyes. Just one stab...it will hurt but he wouldn't kill anyone...his friends would be safe. Liannan...Liannan wouldn't have died if he did this earlier...Liannan...

As his nails started to draw closer Sepheran felt a sudden pain shoot through his shoulder making his scream his hands moving away from his face to hold the injured shoulder. A hot burning sensation and his vision clouded fading away once more...wait...blinking Sepheran felt the skin on his shoulder, the scaly skin belonging to Liannan. It was still warm to the touch and the voice...her hiss he could hear her!

She...she wasn't dead?! His vision...it wasn't real? He didn't get his sight back?! Sepheran was glad for the first time he hadn't killed Liannan. "Liannan..." he said happily uncaring of the throbbing pain.

Liannan having seen Sepheran raise his hands to his eyes had snapped out of her own stupor and bit him on his shoulder to snap him awake...or she had a illusion of her own that Sepheran was a nice big juicy cricket...nobody could be sure...what mattered now was that Sepheran was awake, brought back to reality.

Was those voice he heard? They didn't sound very far off...the voice of his friends. This was real wasn't it...surely it was since Liannan just snapped him out of it.

"Arachne? Lizzy? Mac?! Is that you guys?! Where you at?! Keep talking so I can find you guys!" Sepheran called out hoping the others would lead him back tot he group...if they were real anyway.

Just as Sepheran began to recover some small piece of sanity, the familiar thunder of a gunshot rings through the fog. There was someone very real out in the fog, someone who had been watching and waiting for this moment to strike down their prey.

HP: 8
Damage to Sepheran: 0

Sepheran stopped dead in his tracks the moment he heard the oh-so-familiar sound that he had been dreading this whole time...the sound he had first heard when he was attacked in the beginning.

Quickly spinning he tried to pin point where the gunshot rang out, the attacker much have been affected by the fog as well or something for their attack missed. Pulling up his Wooden toy sword Sepheran could only hope his wouldn't. What he hadn't noticed was the small bud of purple formed at the very tip of the sword, course it was tiny to miss without one knowing where to look. Slowly it was starting to grow with every swing.

Was this attacker even real? Only one way to find out. Taking his toy sword he swung it managing to hit something very real if only just a graze. So this was the attacker then? Sepheran couldn't be sure, not with what went on so far, but one thing was for sure he wasn't just going to let himself get attacked without a fight.

Arachne looked at Mac and Elizabeth and give a short shake of her head.

'I'm staying too.' she had now heard what Mac had and balled her hands into tight fists, squinting into the fog, hoping to catch sight of the missing boil.

The wooden sword did indeed make contact, figure making sharp hiss of pain before stepping back into the fog. And firing again. Apparently they weren't going to bother with fairness or honour this time, but instead snipe through the fog, where Sepheran would be fighting nearly blind. Another shot rang out but...maybe they had been too confident in their ability to handle the fog.

A quick glance at the group made Riley pause in her step, turning to watch them all warily. Why have we stopped? She asked them all at once. She hadn't heard the scuffles of battle nearby, but it wouldn't have mattered. If you're waiting for someone, they have a better chance of catching up to us if we keep moving. Staying still in one place doesn't solve anything - and it only makes us sitting targets.

The gravel at her feet shuffled lightly, disturbed by a disquieting wind. She looked down at the ground, tilting her head just slightly. The gravel she knew to be there was gone, replaced by a coarse, grainy sand. It was red, lifeless land - she knew it well. When her eyes followed the path behind her, she found all of her group standing on her home soil.

Her hand clenched tightly in Malodore's claw. I'm having a hallucination. She calmly warned it, feeling a sense of empowerment from knowing she was hallucinating, and reacting appropriately. You're all here, though. She watched Jericho step over an obstacle in the road that, to her, was invisible - and she knew that the students she saw before her were real. Only the environment was not.

She turned her head to look at Malodore, sensing nothing out of the ordinary from any of them. Even its eyes were still that odd shade of yellow. It was only their surroundings that-

A dustcloud formed several yards away. She knew that dustcloud. She knew what it meant. Her eyes remained on Malodore. I'm about to hallucinate an attack. I think.. I think if I don't watch.. The dustcloud took on a distinct shape. Mounted illithid strode through the dusty plains toward the group. She saw them through her peripheral vision, but refused to look anywhere but Malodore's eyes. Just don't let go of my hand. No matter what happens, don't-

She heard the first few screams, and she knew the students behind her were no longer real. Her eyes shut tightly, and she turned her head away. She would ride out this hallucination, this greatest of fears, and she would not let it win.

The sickening crunch of breaking bones coupled with the sweet, enticing smell of freshly unearthed brains nearly drove her mad. She could hear Jericho screaming for help behind her, and her face tightened as the sound turned to nothing more than a gurgle of blood through his throat.

Finally, the worst came. She felt the soft tugging of Malodore's hand. She heard it begging her to look, to save it. She heard it scream her name in agony. Even then, all it asked was to look at it before it died.

Her eyes remained closed. If she watched Malodore cruelly destroyed by her own kind.. she knew she would lose her mind.

Listening to it was almost doing the job on it's own.
