Earendil smiled and followed Lin inside. It was quite dark in the room, but there was just enough moonlight streaming in the window that he could make out the outlines of the furniture.

"It always is," he murmured back, closing the door behind them.

There was a soft click as one of the doors opened and Arahad, absent the night before, stepped out into the hallway. He was dressed warmly as if he was intending to go outside, and his shoulder-length hair was pulled back into a low ponytail.

"Miyuki?" he asked with a grin. "That you?"

He hadn't seen her in a long time, not since she'd been an infant, and though Earendil had told him about her, he hadn't been able to imagine until now what she looked like grown up.

Arahad grinned. "Nah, I was up anyways, getting ready to go out for the day. You seem as though you're looking for something. Need a hand?"

He had his cloak slung over one arm, but he was in no rush to go outside. If Miyuki needed some help, he could help her.

"Huh ..."

Arahad looked up and down the hall thoughtfully. He had no idea where they were, either. Everyone had been asleep when he had come in the night before. Truth be told, he didn't spend a lot of time at home anymore.

"Well, I don't know where they are either," he said, "but if you want I can keep you company while you wait for them to wake up."

Arahad grinned. "Come on, I'll make you something good for breakfast," he told her. He nodded towards the stairs. "Let's go. Maybe it'll even smell so good it will drag your parents out of bed!"

Having such odd hours compared to his family, he had gotten quite good at cooking his own meals, he had to admit.

"That's what I like to hear!" Arahad beamed. He chuckled. "Come on then."

He herded her down to the kitchen, where he proceeded to make a fire in the fireplace (it was very cold in the room before that) before setting about preparing something to eat.

"By the way," he added with a grin as he started to mix ingredients in a bowl, "I'm Arahad. You probably don't remember me."

"Well, you were very young when you were here," Arahad admitted, adding some water to the mixture. He began to stir. "You were I think three days old when you first arrived, and you were only here a few months. So yes, very young indeed."

He set a pan over the fire and added a chunk of butter from a container on the counter. It soon began to melt, and he started putting some of the batter he'd made into the pan as well.
