"Huh?" Ceri looked at him. "Oh, it was my brothers. He was younger, and when he spent his year with the elves, and brought this back for me..." She blushed. "I always mess with it when I'm nervous..."

Ceri smiled a sad smile, and the pale light only made it sadder. "Yea, I guess....." she said softly, twisting the chain around her fingers and making small shapes.

Alek smiled and put his arm around her again.
After some amount of measured breaths, Val thought about it, glanced at Rincewind, thought, then gave him a quick kiss.
