 "Who do you have in mind?" Renka asked, curious though still planning hiding on the roof of whatever house was nearest to the hanging so if James missed Renka planned on jumping over to cut the rope, and if the boy hit his mark Renka would supply a weapon and defend the prince.. That's how his mind was set anyway..

 Selina listened in and it sounded like they had a decent enough plan
she walked closer towards the group, "so, i can give some cover if
needed" she offered at least she could give some contribution.

James looked over at Renka. From the way he looked, he could tell that he wasn't planning on changing his plan in any way, whatever that plan was. Which was fine. It was always nice to have a back-up plan. "A girl came to Tinto two years ago. Her village had been in the Gailor invasion force's path and had been destroyed. She is eager to get revenge. Knowing her, she'll jump on the chance to save the one person who can help her get revenge," he said.
"James, is there anyway you can inform her of what's going to happen?" Hana asked.
"I could go sneak around town to where she's staying. Since it's dark outside, people won't be able to see me, so I should be okay," James offered.
Hana nodded. "All right. Now hurry. And don't get caught. We're depending on you," she said.
James couldn't help a grin. "I won't. Remember, I was raised here. I know Tinto like the back of my hand. It couldn't have changed that much in two years, right?" With that James left.

Stefisgarden Aki looked at Damon after Stein spoke. A torturer, huh? he thought before speaking to him. "Sorry, but I don't believe in torture." He stood and followed Stein without a word. He wouldn't try to escape. He would have been killed before he even reached the end of the hallway. Trying to escape would be a waste of time.

Tak grabbed Devina by the shoulder. "I believe you didn't hear me. I told you to leave." No one ignored Tak if he didn't want them to. No one.

Stein led Aki into the small medical room in the prison. He gave it a few looks, mumbled something about 'no sterilization' and 'Tuesdays are UFO day'. After his irritated grumblings, he turned back to Aki and did a regular check-up*. When he finished, he nodded, indicated for him to put his shirt back on, and reached into his pocket, removing a cigarette, and lighting it on seemingly nothing before setting it in his mouth and blowing a stream of smoke. "You're healthy, no abnormalities in weight. Your neck isn't very strong, so good news! It might snap before you have to go through the agonizing death by suffocation that the noose would normally bring." He tapped a bit of ash into a nearby sink. "Which is good for you. I wouldn't wish that sort of painful death on anyone. Except maybe your father."
((*Note: going to skim over this. Because Aki seems very compromising right now, I figure he'd do whatever normal stuff Stein would have him do.))

Aki did everything Stein asked of him without saying a word. There was nothing to be said. At what he said about his neck probably snapping, he involuntarily winced, even though he knew it would be the quick way to die. Most people would have done the same. At the mention of his father, the thought of death left his mind, to be replaced by confusion. "My father? What does he have to do with anything?"

Devina turned her head quickly, her eyes wide and quite freaky,
Staring back at Tak for a moment before her lips parted. "i believe i
wasn't paying attention, remove your hand before i remove it from
your arm completely" she gave him a freaky smile, Devina was
said to be insane, she listened to nobody and did as she wished.
she was released under the king's control and he was probably the
only voice she would listen to. She may look young, but Devina was a monster.

If we're in a medieval time period, that would be between the 5th century and the 14th century. Cigarettes are well within my rights.
And the sterilization/UFO thing was a joke. Like, 'aha, Stein is insane, what the hell is he talking about, what a nutter'.))
"Well..." Stein removed the cigarette from his mouth and blew a stream of smoke. "Your father was an a*****e. He is probably the only person I would wish death upon. He's dead now, right? Emil told me. It may make me sound like an a**, but I am, and I'm glad he's dead. It might make me sad to see YOU die, but if I pretend you're your father, I might gain some satisfaction from it." He set the cig back into his mouth. "Then again, you are your mother's son...It's very hard for me to take sides in something like this."

Tak didn't flinch. He didn't need to. He wasn't even scared. He tightened his grip for a moment, almost threatening to crush the girl's shoulder, then released it, almost as if that had been his flinch. "In that case, I'll walk you out."

Aki listened to Stein speak, his confusion only growing. How did he know his father? And his mother? And why did he hate his father so much? He had so many questions to ask, but he didn't know where to begin.

Stein glanced at Aki and smirked. "You look SO confused. Anything you want to ask? Anything at all? Your face is covered in questions. I love answering questions. Ask anything, really." He thought for a moment. "You can ask more than one question at once. I just might not answer every question and you'll have to ask again. So sad."

Devina watched him intently not moving a muscle, as he let go of
her shoulder she smiled at him "thank you" however his next
comment, Devina blanked him completly, she remained where she
was, just blankinng the disturbance around her.

James moved quickly and silently down the empty street. He noticed quite a few wanted posters up around the town, many of them containing pictures of their group. The prices on their heads were quite high.
James ignored the posters and focused instead on reaching a house on the far end of the old town. That was where the girl Kari was staying. At least that's where she had been staying two years ago. He wasn't sure if she was still there, but it was their best chance.

Tak rolled his eyes, then pointed down the hallway. "Get your quaint girly a** down in that direction. I'll be following you to make sure you leave. And if you don't get moving, I'll chuck you in with Damon over there." He nodded his head towards the cell Damon was stuck in.

Damon glanced up, gave a nutter smile, and waved the rib bone of his old cellmate before returning his attention to carving a pattern into it with a dagger.

Stein smirked. "Fair enough questions." He blew another stream of smoke through his cigarette. "I hated your father because he hated me. We went to school together, and he was an a**. He hated me because I didn't do what he told me to do, because I didn't, and still don't, like condescending people. The hate just sort of evolved. Your mother went to the same school. She was a friend of mine, and she didn't like your father, either. I was engaged to her when your father decided he hadn't ******** my life up enough, and chose her as his bride. Since we weren't married, I didn't have any say in it, and neither did she." He scoffed. "You don't argue with the king, even if you're right and he's wrong." Stein shook his head. "I suppose he was good to you, though. You being his only son and all. You look just like him." Stein paused, then added: "But less of a d**k."

Aki shook his head. "He never paid any attention to none of us. Us being Alice, mom, and I. He was always worrying about his secret work that he never told any of us about. Mom was the only one who seemed to really care about Alice and me. But that's fine. From what I've heard about him, he was not a very...pleasant person."

"That's improper grammar. You mean to say, 'He never paid attention to ANY of us'. You have to pay attention when you're in English, Aki." Stein corrected. He nodded about the 'not very pleasant' part. "You can bet he wasn't pleasant. I have never met such a a*****e in my life, and I've lived a long time. Just be glad he wasn't actively being cruel to you. Always look on the bright side of life. Plus, you had your mother." He nodded almost to himself, his eyes misting over for a moment as he turned his face away from Aki's, but returned his gaze to the child, shaking the nostalgia out of his head. "It'll be too bad to see you die tomorrow. Anything else you want to know about your parents? Or your father?"
