Ishio's warm smile narrowed his eyes slightly as she asked why he called her Lani-chan. He slightly tightened his grip on her hand before answering. "In Japan, we have an honorific system. Chan is a diminutive suffix; it expresses that the speaker finds a person endearing. Thus, using chan with a superior's name would be condescending and rude. In general, chan is used for babies, teenage girls and young children. It may also be used towards cute animals, lovers, and close friends." He made sure to bring her attention to the word 'lovers'. "Although, that is for females. If you spoke as we did, you would call me Ishio-kun." he smiled and looked to see how she was responding to this. "There are many more such as; sama, sempai, senpai, shi, and sensei, but I will discuss this later if you wish. For now, try and get some sleep." He did the cycle of wetting the cloth and placing it back on her head, this time checking how her forehead once again. It hadn't gotten down much, if at all. He sighed as he placed the cloth on her head and sat down once again.

"H-hey! What's with this?" Kotatsu demanded as he watched Kukura's anger deflate. "Dammit. Just when things were getting good." Kotatsu shoved his hands in his pockets and sulked. "I wanted to beat the crap out of this guy. If there's no fight, then there is no reason for me to be here. I'm hungry. I'm ready to leave this stupid school. Fighting was the only thing interesting about this dumb academy. I'm through with this." He sighed a long sigh and shook his head from side to side. His own anger had been deflated and now depression had replaced it. He slowly retreated away from away from the two of them, walking off towards the cafeteria.

"W-Wait Kotatsu!" Annabella called after him, but he kept walking. She felt tempted to chase after him, but decided against it. After all, Kukura had assisted her in getting rid of Kotatsu. Still, she worried about the poor lad.
She turned to Kukura and grabbed his hands. "Thank you so much! It's the first time someone has gotten rid of Kotatsu successfully. I really am proud to have you as my roommate. Please let me cook you something in return. I promise I won't burn it or anything." She smiled from her heart, because for once she was happy to make a new friend.

Lani looked up at him from her lying position, her eyes half-closed. A few times throughout his explanation, she coughed. And after each one, she felt horrible. This was because she grew up in a society that when an elder or a loved one is speaking, one should not do anything to detract from their own words or actions. But once he was done speaking, she let the corners of her mouth curve upwards in a weak smile. "I see then..." She whispered before she watched him tend to her, replacing her wet cloth with another. "Thank you...Ishio-kun..." She whispered before she shifted herself in the blankets, moving her body upwards into a seated position, covering her mouth with her hand as she coughed gently. She then turned her body and placed her feet on the floor, supporting herself against the dresser since she was so lightheaded and weak at that moment.

Ishio smiled as she added the honorific, 'kun', at the end of his name. He was about to kiss her once more before she stood up. He moved and grabbed her, supporting her as she stood up. "Lani, you shouldn't be moving around. You should be resting." His words were laced with care and worry. He didn't want her falling or making it worse. He lifted her up in his arms, so she was atleast lying down within his embrace. "Where did you want to go?" He asked her softly.

"Ipo, sweetheart, I'm fine..." Lani told him with a smile, using her own Hawaiian name for him this time. But before she could take another step, she felt herself be scooped up into his arms. Once he asked where she wanted to go, she felt her hands begin to play amongst themselves on her stomach now. "I um...I need to use the bathroom..." She whispered to him, clearly embarrassed as she glanced away from him.

He had figured as much and it made him chuckle slightly as she turned away. He brought her next to the bathroom door and set her down, then walked into the living room and sat down on the couch. He didn't turn on the television or anything of the sort though. He stared at the darkness on the screen, spacing out as he thought of what he could do to help Lani.

Lani smiled up at Ishio when he set her down in front of the bathroom door. She slowly opened it and entered, closing the door behind her. A moment or two later, the door opened up once more, the rushing of water being heard right before she did so. She then made her way over to Ishio, slowly beginning to regain her lost strength. "Hello Ipo.." She whispered to him as she stood there beside the couch, staring down at him lovingly with a gentle smile dancing across her lips.

Ishio turned his head as soon as he heard her voice and returned her smile with a warm one of his own. She looked a little less sick now, but he could tell she wasn't completely out of the water. He gestured for her to sit next to him with a warm tone.

Lani slowly moved around the couch and made her way over to him. She then sat down on the couch beside him before it slowly turned to her laying down in his lap once more. She snuggled against him, careful where she put her head exactly though. "Ishio...can you say something else to me in Japanese? I really like the way you say it..." She told him with a smile, giggling silently to herself as she stared up at him.

Ishio smiled as she requested him to speak Japanese. He chuckled slightly through his teeth and kissed her cheek. "Anata wa Bijin desu. Aishiteru..." He spoke his words softly and full of sincerity. He knew what he had said and was pretty sure she didn't, but every word he had said in his national language, was completely true and he had no regrets saying them. He kissed her cheek once again and sat up to lean his head back against the couch and placing one hand on her stomach and another on the arm of the couch. He didn't feel like turning on the television just yet. In Japan, saying his latter words meant that he was dead serious. He would probably have to teach her that it was not often for a japanese male to say those words, but he didn't mind.

As Ishio spoke, Lani smiled. She had closed her eyes when he kissed her cheek and kept them closed from the point he began to the point he ended. She thought of every single word in her mind, trying to find the meaning when she knew it was pointless for she knew little to almost no Japanese at all. She then sighed happily as she felt his soft lips against her cheek once more. Her hand moved from the couch to his hand, which was positioned on her stomach at that point as well. "Now...Ishio?" She whispered gently as she stared up at him, her burgundy eyes shimmering lightly in the sunlight that was peering ever so gently through the blinds covering the windows. "Can you tell me what you just said...but in English?" She said with a slight laugh, blushing gently at her own stupidity, asking for something from him that she couldn't even understand in the least.

Ishio continued to smile warmly, not thinking she was a fool at all. She wasn't from Japan so it was normal. He brought his head down again and hovered his face inches above hers. "I said, You are beautiful and that I love you." His smile widened as he spoke, keeping his tone warm and gentle which is exactly his attitude while around Lani. He lifted the hand that was on the arm of the couch, and brushed the tips of his fingers along her cheek until it reached her ear, where he removed his hand and set it back on the couch.

Lani smiled to him, staring up at him until his face drew closer to her own. She blinked at him before she blushed gently, listening to his words once before she replayed them over and over in her mind. "I-Ishio..." She whispered as she felt his hands run along her cheek, letting her face nuzzle into his hand for a moment before he removed it altogether. She then thought about it for a moment before she chuckled. "Ku`u Lei. Aloha au iaoe no Kau a Kau..." She whispered to him in her own native tongue, staring into his eyes happily, reaching up with her free hand to touch his cheek as well. She meant every word of what she just conversed with him. Her voice when she spoke in her native language, sounded almost like a song, a sincere, loving song that was to be sung for him, and only him.

Ishio smiled, thinking he knew what she was probably saying, but needed to ask anyway. He wished he knew how to speak hawaiian so he could converse with her in her own native tongue, but sadly, he didn't. He continued to keep his face hovering slightly over hers. "What does that mean, watashi no ai?" He found it slightly humorous that they were speaking their nation's language, but he enjoyed hearing hers. It sounded beautiful, especially coming from her.

Lani blinked up at him for a moment before she just smiled. "I said, 'My beloved. I shall love you for all eternity'..." She whispered to him as she continued to stroke his cheek with her thumb, staring into his eyes deeply yet lovingly. She then reached up and gently grazed his lips with her own but pulled back, remembering that she was ill. But then an odd quote struck her with joy. "Me he lau no ke Ko`olau ke aloha." She muttered breathlessly to him. But before he could say anything, she giggled. "That is a quote my mother would tell my father all the time. It means 'Our love is like the ends of the Ko`olau breeze.'" She then leaned back into his lap, since she had to lean up a tad to kiss him.
