Damian had been everything of compassion and love, up until this point. It would be the very first time he ever yelled at Raquel. "Will you get ahold of yourself!?" Though he still dropped to his own knees in front of her, once again taking her shoulders in his hands with anger and pain in his own eyes. It seemed he felt just the same way as she did. "Get ahold of yourself! I can't imagine what it is you're going through right now, but for crying out loud, take it by the horns and handle it!"
And he didn't just stop there, despite her being angry and crying upon the floor they had once all been sitting on together, happy. "You always have your emotions get the better of you, always! Raquel, you are not the only person who has suffered in this house, and we are here for you. But fight your half of the battle and show your past that this is not going to rule you and that you will be happy! And if you won't then I will."
Lorey stayed just where she was. Goodness knows she was tired and just wanted to sleep, but somehow things always took off just when they were being peaceful. She did as she was asked, though, and just sat on the bed cross-legged, looking quizically out the door after Richard. There was yelling from Damian and Raquel, which really didn't surprise her, but at least it helped distract her from her own discomfort.

Raquel calmed herself down as Damian's voice rose and his grip reclaimed her shoulders. She didn't focus on how horrid it felt, having him angry at her, or the bad memories of the hold he had on her bubbled up. Instead she kept her eyes away from his. After he had finished speaking, Raquel took a few even breaths before finally looking at him. Her eyes lightened back up ever so slightly but her brow as still furrowed as she just stared at him. She swallowed hard before speaking. "I'm not as strong as you swear I am." She said shaking her head as her eyes flashed with a hidden emotion inside her should as her eyes locked onto his like a vice grip. she jerked from his grasp. The only thing that broke her strong gaze was a quiet little me that made her whole face soften, looking to see little trinity rubbing against the door way and yawning. Raquel looked down, sighed and stared up at the ceiling. "I'm working on it though...alright?" She stood, not looking at him. All she did was lean down, kiss him on the cheek, and turn away. "Goodnight Damian..." She said softly, walking voer to pick Trinity up before shuffling down to her room. She passed Richard without a word, heading straight for her room, shutting the door behind her. Richard paused, the bag from under his bed in his hands, not sure if he should say something or not. Sighing, he went back to Lorey's room, shutting the door. He stuffed something in his pocket, dropping the bag, and walking up to Lorey briskly. He took her hand, quickly but gently bringing her to her feet in front of the large window, letting the full moon wash over her, giving her an angelic glow. Richard swallowed hard, taking both her hands in his. "Lorey..." he smiled a little, though he oozed nervousness. "I ....I told myself I'd never do this after Rose...ever..." he said quietly, his stern features taking in Lorey with admiration and love. "And I want more than anything...for you to be happy. Though after much thought...I'm the only person I trust enough to make sure you're always safe and happy..." He furrowed his brow before He fished into his pocket with one hand, keeping her hands in the other. And just like out of a fairy tale, all in one graceful motion, he knelled to her, and pulled out a small black box. He opened it, his hands shaking, to reveal a lovely but modest little ring that shimmered in the moonlight. He looked up at her, stuttering as he spoke. "Y-y-you don't have to answer me now...I-I just want y-you to think about it...k-know my inten-intentions..." He furrowed his brow, breathing quickly, suddenly wishing he hadn't done this. "But If I can't make you happy Lorey...please tell me..." he said sadly as he had a little trouble breathing, suddenly realizing he had chosen a horrid time to give up smoking.

Damian remained on the floor. All he could say to that entire situation was a very frustrated and venomous, "s**t."
Lorey, though, was utterly dumbfounded. The ring he presented was so beautiful... and she had to admit with a small bittersweetness that it was even prettier than the ring her mother had been given. But then, Richard loved her more than anything, unlike her father did her mother. It was indeed like a dream come true.
Her white hands went to cover her mouth as a happy sob shook her. "Richard," she said, unsure of just what to say, so she settled on something she could do, which was to nearly fall forward around him in a hug while crying tears of joy. "You already make me happy. How could you not?" And suddenly realizing she'd given no answer, she pulled away from him so as to see his face. "Yes. Yes, you make me so, so happy and proud. For heaven's sake, yes!"

Raquel cuddled onto Trinity, setting her on the bed before slipping her clothes off. She threw on her pajamas that were still on the bed from when she changed in such a hurry earlier that day. "I wish I could just learn to keep things to myself Trinity...maybe we wouldn't fight as much then..." She confided to the little kitty who played with the drawstring on her pants. Raquel laughed slightly, though still looked so sad. Not saying much else, she crawled into bed, trinity curled up next to her. She lied awake, staring up at the ceiling, trying to get sleep to take her over.
Richard let out a few deep exhales of breath he didn't realize he had been holding in. He was numb at first, Lorey throwing herself on him. It was then the reality hit him. She... said yes...? She said yes! He wrapped his arms around her crying joyfully as he mumbled "I love you, I love you my Lorey, my little flower....Nothing can touch us now..."

It was almost hard to breathe with how tight they were holding each other. It was a miracle, then, how Lorey was able to maneuver herself so that she could get a hand free. "It's a beautiful ring... God, I wish my mother was here right now... She'd be so happy, too." She placed it on her finger, and no sooner was back to hugging Richard, and stroking his hair as they both tried to calm down a bit from their tears. Lorey laughed at themselves, because truly they must have been the most emotional people she'd ever met. "Calm down so I can kiss you, silly," she whispered, voice still laced with her happiness.

Richard laughed through the tears, miraculously able to somehow locate her lips as he cried, stroking her hair and pulling back occasionally to get a look at her face. After a few kisses, he just had to hug her tightly again. "Lorey you dont know how you've just made my world spin....thank you..." He whispered in her ear, kissing her neck between words.

She kissed him once more before heaving a sigh. She'd been tired before, but after that surprise, Lorey felt like passing out completely. It would just have to wait a few more minutes, though. "Now, I... I don't want to get married right away," Lorey explained. "I really want to wait this out... I really think we should both get steady jobs, and a place of our own... you know? Get everything squared away before we really tie the knot." As she spoke, she smoothed out his shirt, fixed his hair... but none of it really mattered, since nothing could possibly make him more wonderful in her eyes right then.

Richard nodded to ever thing smiling through the happy tears as he gently wiped away Lorey's. "Of-of course..." He breathed, smiling so sweetly as he kept his hand on Lorey's face. "That's what I wanted...I- I told Damian earlier, about how I was planning on selling the ship, and settling down where ever you were...." He explained, just watching her with amazement.

"I thought you said you wanted to go traveling," Lorey said, not hating the idea of staying in Veratia, but definitely not liking it, either. "We have all the time in the world for this... don't sell your baby just yet, if ever. You never know if we might need it." Her finger poked his nose softly before she held up the ring on her hand. It was lovely... "Get out in those stars that I seem to have on my finger."

Richard laughed, though loved how she was so worried about his happiness as well. it was proof they'd make it. he kissed her forehead, smiling. "Even though I have them all in your eyes?" He asked, taking her face in his hands. he laughed, pressing his head to hers, just smiling. "Oh...darling...you look so tired....I should have waited, bu ti was eating at me..." he said with a sigh as he held her shoulders so gently.

"I am tired." But with all her happiness, she'd just forgotten about it sometimes. "I think we should get some sleep. Then we can run around the house in the morning and tell everyone what news we have, even if they might not care." Which was a very real possibility, considering the yelling they'd heard earlier.

Richard's smile grew as he swept her up off her feet quite literally, placing her back in bed where she belonged. He snuggled in next to her, kissing her all the while. "The sooner we get to sleep, the sooner I get to show you off. You're so lovely...and I'm so honored you love me so..." He said softly, kissing her once more.

"Richard, I swear," she said laughing. "You make me feel like I'm a queen or something. I love you..." Just to be defiant, she simply would not lay down herself until he was all tucked in and squared away in the covers, with a fluffy pillow under his head and a sleepy look in his eye. She would have stayed up longer to see him off to sleep, but it was just too late and she was far too tired. Lorey instead settled on curling up next to him in the fluff of comforters they shared. "I love you. We'll work everything out, day by day at first... and then we'll figure out where we go from there. My Richard..." His name was enough of a lovely thing to say to her.

Richard was so happy, he found it amazing that sleep found him so quickly, despite tingling numbly all over from happiness. He was graced by sweet dreams of just Lorey and him until the early rays of morning reached through the window to gently shake him awake. It was actually too early to get up, but he found himself unable to go back to sleep, simply lying in silence, watching Lorey sleep. Such a happy content lovely face she had, as the thresh hold of sleep made her seem like a princess out of a story book. Which to Richard she was. He almsot didn't want to wake her, but knew she'd be dying to tell the others just as he was.

Damian hadn't really slept all night. He'd just walked around the house, looking at things he sometimes didn't even know he had. Around two in the morning, he'd taken a swim in the hopes of exhausting himself into sleeping. When that had failed, he'd made himself some toast, hoping somehow eating more might make him feel comfort enough to close his eyes. Sleep did take him for maybe three hours, bringing him to wake again at six. Still, the weight of his fight with Raquel weighed on him terribly.
I should do something for her, he thought. But what if she didn't even want to see him? What if she thought it was a nice gesture, but nothing more? Damian thought frustratingly as he watched the polluted sky turn pink and orange with the sunrise out on the patio. Miserable.
Lorey didn't wake until about eight, which was sleeping in for her. She wondered if what had happened the previous night had been a dream, until her little finger traced the ring, and then she knew she was quite engaged. "Morning," she mumbled with a small stretch. Lorey didn't want to move, excited as she was to tell people about her engagement.
