Nathan finished his meal and dropped his knife and fork on his plate. He wiped his mouth with a napkin and finished his water. He waited for the waitress to come around to collect the dirty dishes.

Ellie giggled a bit. "Hey, Strider. Mind coming down?" she said to the little owl as she held up her hand close to him so that he'd get on her hand instead.

Karla noticed this, but instead of leaning forward, she stepped back a bit and looked away. "I-I'm sorry," she said. She liked Travis, but maybe they were doing things too fast. Her heart was already beating so fast, she felt like it'd explode in her chest at any moment.
