Sensation by and by returned, slowly but surely, as most things in life. With slow lethargic movements Ebony opened her eyes and willed herself to sit up, pushing against down pillows as she did. The doctors it appeared had left already and looking at the clock on her wall it revealed she had been asleep for no more than half an hour. Sliding her legs off the bed Ebony pushed herself onto the polished stone floors. Looking down at her abdomen Ebony registered the white bandages that had been wound against the gun shot wounds, besides these strips she was completely nude. Ebony shrugged, this was not a new concept, the many times she had phased from wolf to human had desensitized her against the exposure of her body. Bringing a hand up to the bandages Ebony prodded the estimated positions of the wounds. It hurt not one bit, and the bleeding had ceased long ago. Unfurling the bandages with impatience Ebony looked upon the wounds and frowned slightly. The doctors had done a remarkable job at the stitches this was true, however the red blemishes that marred her marble skin caused the frown of displeasure to deepen. Breathing in deeply Ebony's eyebrow twitched in the slightest, her lung had been punctured and breathing in as deep as she did caused the wound undue discomfort. Well, deep breathing would obviously have to be avoided for a while.

Stretching limbs still lethargic from drugs, Ebony made her way to her mahogany wardrobe. Grasping the handle and throwing the items inside into light Ebony plucked a suit off a hanger. Stepping into the black trousers and buttoning up the silky violet blouse, Ebony's mind wandered. Should she see Alec and apologize for her weakness? Glancing absentmindedly at the mirror Ebony gauged Alec's reaction at such a profession of shortcoming. Not only that, but with the newly procured Cure, Alec would surely be busy. Deciding that visiting Alec so soon would not be a good idea, Ebony equipped herself with black shoes and reacquired her watch once again. Walking over to the desk on which her mobile lay, it reaffirmed that she should not see Alec so soon. She was lethargic and slow, and she need not show Alec any more weakness, plus one needed all their wits about them when dealing with the vampire. Turning the phone on Ebony pocketed the device and turned back to the door. Making her way out of her bedroom Ebony traversed the corridors. If she could find one of Alec's assistants she would be able to ask for some food that she deeply desired, her stomach grumbled in assent.

Jess looked at Jasper, not understanding why it hadn't made him smile to know that Logan was alive. "Logan is alive.. I know it. But if I were in Jasper's position, I suppose I wouldn't believe me either.." "Jess," Jasper said in a rough voice that barely sounded like the man she fell for, "None of this was your fault." She shook her head and looked down, a shakey hand brushed against her cheek. She looked back at him, though it pained her, and he gave her a weak smile that wasn't his own. Jasper's fangs winked in the light, they hadn't shown like that in years. His lips curled up even further into a deadly mockery of humor. "Oh Jess, I will heal as quickly as I can. Even now, my body pulls me to her. Ebony. She will be mine. I can't wait...to taste her, to hear her scream." A dark laugh escaped him, which caused Jess to flinch slightly. Jasper closed his eyes again, and the haunting smile still pulled at his mouth every once in awhile. He was lost in himself again, his body lurching in one direction and muffled pleas and threats escaped him from time to time.

Jess didn't know what to think, nor what to say. This was no longer her Jasper, not now at least. Though it was possible for him to push this monster Ebony had turned him into away, to the back of his mind. Jess strongly doubted he would even make an attempt to do so if she was still living. She slumped down next to the couch, leaning on it and put an arm on his knee. She put an a hand on her face, covering up her left eye and a good majority of her cheek. "How..could I of let this happen to him? If I hadn't ran away like Logan told me to, I probably could've helped him..." She slowly took her hand off of her face and looked over to where Nathan was talking to Rose. "We need a plan. And we need Syvra. We need all of us to get the Cure back...Do you think...the demon of shadows...is still alive?" Jess' eyes widened, what he had just suggested was crazy and it would post likely harm them more than it would help.

Jess pulled out her phone and fumbled to find Syvra's number. She called it as quickly as she could, it rang and when she finally answered Jess' voice was somewhat weak. "Syvra..where are you?.."

“The thing you desire is so close and yet you can't even touch it. But that's it from me Jasper, I have other duties to attend to, so please enjoy the scent. Ta ta!"
Her voice pierced his sensitive ears but he was blind to the world again, the cloth firmly over his eyes. He could smell the blood….

Jasper’s dreams troubled him so much that he woke after only a few stressful minutes of restless sleep. His eyes shot open, flying around the room. He felt a pressure on his legs and looked down. Jess was there, her head resting at his knees. She had her face covered with her head, making Jasper frown. What troubled her?
Jess lifted up her head again as Nathan started talking. Jasper snorted at the words. The creators of their pestilence would be the last ones to offer any help. And that was if they even existed at all…
Jasper mumbled something and turned away from the others, but he kept his eyes open. He was determined not to fall back into sleep. He felt like a child hiding from those nightmares that awaited him, but it didn’t matter. Reality, however bad it might be, at least had Jess.
He looked down at her again and reached up his good hand, running it through her hair absentmindedly as she lifted the phone to her ear. He heard her mention Syvra and found he was worried about her. How would the other vampire take the news of Logan’s death? It was no secret to him how she felt for Logan.
It was best not to think about it. Jasper shut his mind to any other subjects and focused on how to get revenge, all the while combing his hand slowly through Jess’s hair with little emotion on his face.
His body felt so weak…Jasper cursed himself for being so powerless and his body began to succumb once again to its need for sleep. His hand dropped away from Jess and he grumbled some more, determined to stay away. But his eyelids were heavy, falling….

“Tell him he is wrong. Shut him up so we can go home.”
“It was a trick from the start.”
“Say your sweet goodbye’s, children.”
“Goodbye for now, Logan. See you in hell.”
“Kill them.”

Ring. "...Why isn't she answering? Ring. "God I hope she didnt' do anything stupid to save Logan.." Ring. "She probably only saved him so that she could kill him..." Ring. "Leave your name and number after the beep..*beep*" Jess sighed, "Hi Syvra. It's Jess...I'm just wondering where the hell you ran off to... Okay. Give me a call when you get this." She closed her phone and suddenly realized that Jasper was awake and playing with her hair. Jess looked up at Jasper with the same smile she had given him when she told him how she felt just yesterday, she didn't know what to say but..she really didn't feel the need to say anything. Jasper still looked very weak and his eyes began to close, "Sleep well, darling.." He stopped playing with her hair and he fell back into a slumber.

She looked around the room again, Rosen and Nathan were still talking, Alaric was still asleep in the corner of the room, and Jasper was either passed our or sleeping. She sighed again, not sure of what was going to happen next. Jess decided to move up further so that she was by his chest/abdomen area and put her head down carefully and closed her eyes. "At least you still care about me, Jasper. That's all I could ever possibly ask of you.." She began to fall asleep, "..no...I can't fall asleep..not now.. I can't.." But her body objected and she fell into a light sleep.

: biggrin ream::
Jess was just waking up and she looked around the room, it was more elaborate than she had seen since she was human. She turned her head to the left and saw Jasper staring back at her in bed. "Jasper...where are we?" He looked at her and smiled, "Jess..this is our home. This is where we're going to raise our baby." She sat up a bit and looked at him confused, "...baby?" He nodded and indicated for her to look down and she did, "..how far along am I?" He looked at her strangely, "Five and a half months, Jess.. are you okay?" She nodded and he kissed her forehead. They got out of bed and she walked over to the closet, there was a whole aray of clothing. They walked out of the room together, hand and hand. Jess stopped in the hallway and opened a door, it was the baby room, primarily white, "We must not know if it's a boy or a girl yet.." They continued down the hall and down a staircase to smell breakfast was ready. "Jasper you made me breakfast?" He smiled yet again, "Of course I made you breakfast, Jess...I love you."
::End Dream::

Jess smiled in her sleep, "if only.."

Nathan completely rejected his idea of bringing any demons into this. Demons were dangerous, vile, evil creatures. Surprising, they were worse than Alec himself. Nathan stood and began walking back and forth across the room. He was trying to think of a plan. "So, there's," He began counting. "six of us. Seven, if you include...this thing which has yet to tell me it's name." Nathan picked up his staff and shook it a bit. "If I knew my name, you would have learned it by now, Nathan. All I remember was how and why I died and was cursed to my skull and spine." Nathan silently grimised. 'Thats disgusting.' Nathan began on his train of thought. "Well, we can't strike today or tomorrow. We're too weak and Jasper, probably one of the strongest amoung us, is too badly hurt. And if Jasper's our strongest, and he was almost outed by this 'Ebony' and Alec, then we might not have a chance in hell." Nathan said. "Unless... I can control or have one of the Rouge's possesed. There's a good option. So far I can only control 5 at a time and for 30 minutes at a time. And this...thing can only take on one object at a time." Nathan was way to tired to think of a plan. "GAH!!!" he yelled as he fell to the ground. He sat there in silence. "Guys...I think...we lost..." Nathan said. He was always the most stubborn and consistant in their little group. But, he didn't see an ounce of hope in this. He couldn't figure out if this was ever going to work out for them. Either way he saw it, they were killed relentlessly.

Syvra stormed through the storm drain, and when she reached the ladder that she'd pulled Jasper up only hours before, she shot up it and punched the replaced manhole out of the way. She heard it bang and roll around with a satisfying clatter as she lightly leaped out of the manhole and landed on the concrete. She saw the moon and remembered all the time she'd missed on the streets. She gave an exhilirated roar, using the immense vocal chords she'd quieted long ago when she'd joined the Cursed so she'd sound normal. It was good to be back. She stomped over to the door, but before she knocked the door aside, she stopped. Should she really tell them what Logan had done? It would destroy them, inside and out. They'd be wild again, never work together again, never trust again. They'd be dead within weeks. They'd been domesticated for too long. Syvra, she'd only been off the streets for a year or so. She had to keep them together, no matter how lost the cause was.
She set her face and burst through the door. She knew they'd be expecting her because of earlier hard-not-to-notice announcement of her presence, but she definitely knew they wouldn't be prepared for her old street vampire appearance. Her slitted pupils that looked like hunting eyes and her street fangs, so much bigger than even Jasper's now, poking over her bottom lip probably startled them to no end. It made her smile and expose her fangs even more. She crossed the room and sat down on the cold concrete, holding her booted feet and rocking back and forth. "So," she said, her voice a musical growl, "what's the status? Where do we stand?" Her phone began to ring and she picked it up without taking her eyes off them, but what she heard made her pretty angry. She turned away and her voice became a low hum as she began speaking into it. "What do you mean one of them reopened?...Then fix it dammit!...I know this'll cost me extra, Rossdale, just shut up and do your freakin' job!" She slammed the phone in half again, nearly breaking it before she returned it to her trenchcoat pocket. She turned back to them and looked at them like nothing happened. "So, what's the plan?" she thundered.

Alaric came back to consciousness as Syvra stormed in. He took quick stock. Jasper, Syvra, and Nathan had arrived, while Alice and Logan were still gone. That woke him up fast and fully. Syvra said something into her phone and practically yelled, "So, what's the plan?" She had gone feral. Alaric didn't like it. He had once hunted the feral Turned. Regardless, she expected them to have a plan?

"We need to know what's going on before we can do anything. What the hell happened!? We've recovered Jasper, but I see no signs of Logan or the Cure. Where is she?" He wasn't really in the mood for niceties, but since she seemed to have gone feral, the direct approach was probably better anyway.

Nathan turned and looked at Alaric. "Al, we've all been through this. Don't just bust into here and act like you're the boss. You're not even the strongest one here." Nathan turned away from him and looked around the room. Then he looked back to Syvra. "Syv, I don't know if you're aware of this, but we are strongly out numbered and our leader is dead. Alec has the Cure, and we don't even have everyone in our team. Jaspers hurt, we're all tired and hungry. By the way, can we get some blood for all of this. I'll help make a run, if someone comes with me." Nathan stood up and strapped his staff to his back.

The speech that answered him started off annoying but quickly turned alarming. Logan was dead and Alec had the Cure? That was it. He'd kill her and there goes hope for a new start. Damn it! Logan hadn't even kept himself alive for vengeance. It almost made him want to take up Nathan's challenge. He had no idea what Alaric was capable of. What made him think he was so weak? But that really didn't matter. Alec was his foremost thought now. He was the one who had killed the Cure. The only thing left to do was kill him. From what he'd heard the vampire was strong, and as much as it galled him to be weaker than a Turned, Alaric probably couldn't beat him the way he was now.

He rose, brushing by Nathan and heading out. "You might not like the way I get blood, but you can help if you wish." Alaric decided to take up the challenge. What other reason could he find for living? Alec would be his lifeblood, until it was time for him to spill it.
PostPosted: Sat Aug 23, 2008 9:24 pm

Nathan was somewhat surprised by Alaric's reaction. He thought he'd try to beat the snot out of him for saying he wasn't the strongest, and everyone knew that Alaric had a big ego about being the best...or something. Nathan quickly followed after him. "Uh, Al? What is your way of getting blood? I hope you're not planning on biting a human. I ment getting blood for all of us to share. We all need it." Nathan said. He was only a few feet behind Alaric, but he felt like he was farther than Pluto is from the sun. Eh, the sun. Nathan thought to himself. He looked around themselves. "We also need to be careful. We don't know if the Rouge are stalking us or following us. If they are, they probably have Alec on speed dial to get the command to snuff us out." Nathan said, looking around paranoid.

"If they knew where we were we'd be dead already, and I doubt they were able to follow Syvra. We're just going to have to trust to luck." He almost wished they did know. A fight would suit his mood. "You have bags, right? I'll turn on the faucet, and you can fill the bags," he said as he slipped through alleyways toward a slightly more populated area. A gang would do nicely. They knew how to fight in human terms at least. "You don't have to kill if you don't want to." If Alaric were one to feel pity, he would have pitied the unfortunately fated gang. They were about to become a punching bag for a hot-headed vampire with a sword.
