She watched Bain leave, frowning. "She didn't hurt you did she?" She figured that'd be the safest way to start things off.

Edward was unphased by Bain's attack. He calmed his features though his emotions ran high. "What do you want?" he asked quietly looking her in the eye, though keeping his distance.

"I want you to come back! You can't just...hide here? There's nothing I can do! I'm Rin's mate! What happened to this morning? You were talking to Lily about getting a mark to show you two were mates..." She sighed.

"I am not hiding, I was thinking." He couldn't get angry at her. "This morning, I was... pretending in my mind that it was you and I." he bowed his head in shame. "I know its wrong to feel this way, I really do understand that." he took a step back, "Its just that I never thought I would meet someone else that was more like me. Lily is great, and she means well, not to mention that I do love her. But..." he looked back at her, not finishing his sentence, lost in thought at the sight of her.

She kneeled down, rocking on her heels and rubbing her temples. "Edward...I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can say that'll make you happy..." She growled, staring at the floor. "This is all my fault. I should've never joined The Red Cross and complicated things like this..."
Looking back up, she looked truly sorry. "Edward...The Red Cross needs you. Lily, Phantom, the baby...we need you to come back and lead us. Please? There are so many people besides myself. Don't turn your back on them because of me!"

Instantly he was in front of her, picking her up, holding her gently by the arms. "Don't ever say that you complicated things, or that you should have never joined the Red Cross. You are my greatest member, and I know that if anything was to ever happen to me, you would lead them." He gently stroked her face with the backs of his fingertips. "I need you, for once in my life I am being greedy, doing whats best for me. After tonight, I don't know what will happen, other then going back, and lead. After tonight, I will be the perfect little poster child everyone thinks I am." He stared her in the eyes, his still filled with love. "What people don't realize is that I am man, flesh and bone. I have wants and needs like everyone else. Right now, I want to be with you, I need to be with you. I love you Lydia, and I can't help that."

"Edward." She said firmly, unable to stop that fact that she was crying now. "Wolves mate for life and I've chosen my mate. You're my friend and I hate the fact that I have to hurt you, but I do or it kills me!" Closing her eyes, she ground her teeth together, jaw clenched. "We can't always get what we want, Edward...I'm sorry, but I'm not in love with you."
For the first time in awhile, she started to cry. She hated the fact that she had to hurt him. He was a very close friend and her leader, but she loved Rin.

Edward wrapped his arms around her to comfort her. "I know. Can't blame a guy for trying right." he said. "Go be with Rin, you will see me tomorrow and this will have never happened." He didn't let go, he would wait till she was ready and let her pull away. "You will always be my friend Lydia. I am sorry that I put you in such a predicament."

"And you'll always be mine." She replied with a nod, wrapping her arms around him. "I must commend you though for trying..." She said, letting go and backing away, muttering one last sorry and turning to run off. She knew she had a job to do, get to the cathedral and protect Rin's status.

Edward let one tear shed as she ran, then he fell back to get ground, popping his shoulder back into place. He then lay there staring up at the sky again, lost in thought.

"Nothing much, just laying on the ground, in wet shorts, without my shirt, and shoes, because I confessed my love to Lydia, who rejected me because Wolves mate for life. Which means I just ruined my releationship with Lily once you tell her, because I know you will. Also potentially losing the war once Rin finds out, which should be soon due to Lydia running off to find him or whatever." he spoke quickly, but in a casual voice. "So, how was your day?"

"One, that was stupid, two, I'm not going to tell Lily, three, I will do what I can to make Rin continue to help us, four, I will talk to her and see if I can't get her to forgive you and five, your getting a hit by your sister." Phantom slaped her brother on his bair stomach. "You are such an idiot Edward, but I stay by your side like a sister should, and that is what I am here for." Phantom looked at her brother. "My day has sucked thank you for caring today."
