My goodness, Ada certainly has grown up a lot since that day in Cherrygrove, Keegan thought, watching the tough little Larvitar unleash a powerful Rock Slide on her foes. The Ledian was not faring very well after the consecutive super-effective hits, although he wasn't sure Ada could take much more either. However, he never would have guessed that the clingy little Pokemon he'd met that day would turn into such a powerhouse - and she hadn't even evolved as of yet. "Okay Themis, let's give Ada a hand. Use your Thunderbolt on Ledian!"

Themis gave a sort of smirk as he trotted forward, letting loose another powerful bolt of electricity at the bug. With a squeal it fell to the ground, unable to continue. "Well I'll be," Salt and Pepper said, recalling the fallen bug Pokemon and looking towards his partner. "I'm down to my last Pokemon. Who would have thought it to be so soon?" He held up a dark-looking Pokeball and flung it forward, revealing a strange, dark-coloured Pokemon. It was about three and a half feet tall, and had mean-looking eyes and what appeared to be a zipper in place of its mouth. Its tail was spiked at the end, and it appeared to be translucent. Keegan had no idea what it was, but the very sight of it gave him the creeps, especially since the sun had now set behind them. "Banette, use your Faint Attack on Manectric," Salt and Pepper said, dismissing the electric type with a wave of his hand. The Banette's face twisted into an evil grin as it vanished from sight. Themis looked around fearfully, unsure of where the ghost Pokemon had disappeared to. A moment or two later it materialized right behind Themis, and lashed out with its clawed hands, catching Themis off-guard and landing a solid hit.

"Damn," Keegan muttered, having never really battled a ghost Pokemon before. He looked to Kasiya, wondering if she had any clues as how to beat this thing.
=====
"Petunia, Seismic Toss!" Miharu called loudly, so much in fact that she didn't hear what command Jessica gave to her Teddiursa. Petunia was very eager to show off her skills to her new trainer and she dashed forward, pincers waving around with every step. She snatched up the small bear Pokemon and threw it over her shoulders, causing it to land near Miharu's feet. The little bear was dazed from the hit, having a hard time regaining its footing. Glaring at the large beetle, the Teddiursa dashed forward, deftly sliding between Petunia's powerful legs and swiping at her from behind with Fury Swipes. Miharu was impressed by the tactic, finding that she wanted a Teddiursa even more than before.

Petinua was quick to fight back though, once again snapping her pincers as she tried to catch the teddy in another Vicegrip. The bear was pretty quick, however, and managed to dodge quite well. Both trainers were quite impressed with each other's Pokemon, and for once Miharu was glad to be battling someone who wasn't rude or overconfident in themselves.

Kasiya was way ahead of Keegan, having already taken out her PokeDex and scanning their new opponent. Adamantine seemed quite happy to see that bug finally fall down, although the sight of the Banette made her shiver all over. "Banette, the Marionette Pokemon. It is said to have once been a doll, but came to life after being disowned by a child, having held a grudge over being junked. These Pokemon are believed to wander around in junkyards and alleys in search of the children who abandoned them." Kasiya felt a chill creep down her spine as well, and it didn't help by the way the Ghost-type vanished from sight and attacked Themis a moment later. "It's a Ghost-type," Kasiya said simply. "Dark and Ghost-type moves should be effective against it, but Normal and Fighting-type attacks will be useless." Having said that, Kasiya looked towards Adamantine. "Dark-type attacks it is! Ada, use your Bite attack on it!" she shouted, and watched as the little Larvitar proceeded to dash across the ground, ready to chomp down on her ghostly opponent.

"At least you kids do your research," Baldy chuckled, coughing a bit as he looked to his Lunatone. It was starting to look somewhat tired, but ready to continue nevertheless. "Lunatone, Confusion attack on that Manectric, now!" For some reason, he seemed to really want to get Themis out of the way. Once again the crescent Pokemon began to spin, generating another Teal aura that snaked out towards Themis, trying to engulf it. Kasiya had a sinking suspicion that whatever Baldy's last Pokemon was, it would be weak against Electric-type Pokemon. Good thing I still have Flash, she thought, smiling to herself.

Jaeshan had slowly began to make his way back towards Rustboro City, having no trouble spotting the building that housed the Devon Corp long before he even reached the first paved street. He wanted badly to get his Pokemon healed up first, but he had promised the officers that he would return Mr Stone's parcel promptly. Jaeshan made his way up the walk and up the short amount of stairs before heading inside the professional-looking building. Right away he felt out of place, as there were many people around him dressed up smartly in business suits and ties. Not really knowing where he should go, Jaeshan walked up to the receptionist's desk and looked around for a moment before spotting a silver bell resting on the desktop. He rang it once, drumming his fingertips lightly on the smooth surface as he awaited a response. A moment or so later, a rather lovely young woman (she couldn't have been more than a few years older than Jaeshan) greeted him warmly, her dark hair done up in a bun at the back of her head.

"Welcome to Devon Corp," she said cheerfully. "How may I assist you today?" Jaeshan then went on to explain the situation, of how he encountered the thief and then chased him down and managed to hold him at bay while the authorities caught up. He then held out the parcel addressed to Mr Stone, and the receptionist flashed a great big smile. "Mr Stone has been expecting this," she said, reaching into a drawer and pulling out a little name tag. She reached out and clipped it to the front of Jaeshan's shirt, and he was able to make it out upside-down - 'Guest.' "Mr Stone's office is on the top floor, so feel free to use the elevator, or take the stairs if you're the athletic type." She smiled and winked at him before picking up the phone and answering it in a semi-professional tone. Jaeshan watched her for a moment or two before making his way to the elevator, and pressing the button. A second or so the doors slid open and he stepped inside, selecting the uppermost floor and waiting patiently as the doors shut silently behind him.

"Grace, same thing; focus on contact with Daemyn," Michael said, a slight grin on his lips. He did miss training. Maybe he really ought to get back to it; all of his Pokemon were a bit out of shape and several degrees slower than they had been in their prime. "Ulani, hitting Grace here won't be an issue, but she's not indestructible. Let's work on strength instead; see those big rocks over there? Pick 'em up and fly 'em to this side of the field."

Grace was a very different opponent for Daemyn, and he although he could see and gage her coming towards him... well, dodging was tougher when your opponent has a wing-span of six feet. Unlike Spade, if you moved out of the way, Grace had no problem with adjusting herself. She nearly perfectly controlled her attacks and could change direction ably. Fortunately for Daemyn, since she didn't rely on momentum, her attacks consisted of more like taps to his head and didn't hurt anything at all, except perhaps his ego. As time ticked on, Daemyn's patience wore thin and his frustration showed; it took several reminders to keep him from attacking from irritation. "Patience will come in handy in some battles," Michael called before turning his attention to our little blue bird.

Ulani's exercise was no less difficult; it might have been an easy task for say, Tora, but she was a light bird and her wings weren't so strong. After the first rock, the bird sat on the ground, her usually buoyant wings dead against her side, and gave M.A. a complaining look. This wasn't fun at all! Michael smiled, however, patting the bird's head. "Take a breather, and we'll try for another one if you can!"

As for Tora, she got back to her can exercise, under Michael's supervision. The Phanpy was getting remarkably better with her accuracy; every round, she was able to change direction more efficiently and hit more and more cans.
PostPosted: Fri Jun 06, 2008 7:20 pm

Michael was doing most of the coaching and fine-tuning, being the more experienced one, but it was M.A. was doing her share too, though it was mostly in support. This "boot camp" of sorts was harder than their usual training, and thus they needed quite a few breaks. Ulani, naturally, complained the most about it, while Daemyn and Tora soaked in their training greedily.

Grace's battle with Daemyn took far longer than Spade's did, and thus they took a couple breaks at intervals. The playful Mantine never hurt Daemyn much and occasionally gave him time to prepare for her next move, but he only avoided her a handful of times, mostly due to pure luck. Her attacks were extremely flexible and hard to read. But as time went on, the canine's eyes began to analyze every hint of what was to come. If her left wing dropped by an inch, the attack was coming from her right or she would veer left. It was all about angles, and Daemyn was slowly being able to predict it if he concentrated hard enough. He hardly ever totally avoided her attacks, but Grace was missing his forehead more and more. Michael, stopping momentarily to watch him, nodded in approval.

Tora, meanwhile, had grown tired, and after hitting a peak of seven of nine cans, began to slow down. M.A. noted that even though her speed dropped, her concentration hadn't, however; she was still able to hit the cans accurately, albeit a little doggedly and weaker. After a while, Michael declared that it was enough, rubbing the Phanpy's head. "Good job! I'm proud of you."

Ulani managed to drag a total of two rocks over (with plenty of encouragement, for she always wanted to give up) and one half-way before she was out of steam entirely. "Tears and sweat are both salty, but only one of 'em gets you victory, as Pops used to say," Michael said, while squatting. To M.A., he murmured, "She's not too fond of battling, hmm?" To which she answered, "Only if it's fun; but really, when she's fired up, she's really something."

The training session soon drew to an end, for they had skipped lunch and were getting hungry.

"Alright, let's call it a day," Michael called cheerfully, rounding them all up. "Good job, everyone," M.A. said, grinning broadly at her worn Pokemon and Michael's. "I'll whip up something in reward~" To which all cheered, for no on there could disagree with her cooking.

Keegan felt a chill in his own spine at the PokeDex's words, and he made his mind up that he would go about getting one of those handy little machines as soon as he had the spare time. The ghost Pokemon was still focusing on Themis, so it hadn't noticed the fiesty little Larvitar running towards it, fangs bared. It did notice, however, when Ada chomped down on its arm, and it let out a hollow shriek of pain. Swinging its arms wildly, it was able to free itself from the Larvitar's grasp and backpedal a bit, sneering at the small rock type. "Banette, finish that little one off with your Shadow Ball," Salt and Pepper said, his sneer matching his Pokemon's. With a sort of pleasure, the Banette held up its hands, forming a shadowy orb between them.

"Themis!" Keegan shouted. "Get in there and protect Ada!" Themis didn't waste a second, using his Quick Attack to get in front of Ada just as the Shadow Ball was lauched towards towards the younger Pokemon. Having not taken much damage as of yet, Themis was able to take the hit without much consequence, although it was more powerful than both he and Keegan predicted it to be. "Damn, that thing is tough..." Keegan muttered.

The Teddiursa came running towards Petunia once again, its claws at the ready. The Stag Beetle was ready for it though, this time sidestepping as the smaller Pokemon rushed by. Miharu took a deep breath and closed her eyes for a second, trying to focus. She knew that this would be nothing compared to Whitney, not to put Jessica down, but she remembered battling with Falkner and Bugsy, and just how mentally taxing it had been.

"Petunia, Seismic Toss!" Miharu shouted, turning her attention back to the battle. The Pinsir let out a growl as it grabbed a hold of the small bear and sent it flying one last time, proving to be enough as it was unable to get back up again.

"Well, that's it, you beat me," Jessica said with a sigh, smiling as she recalled the fainted Teddiursa. "There'll probably be a few more trainers waiting for you before you get to Whitney, so good luck to you."

"Thanks," Miharu said, nodding. She breathed deep one last time before walking up to Petuna and patting the Pinsir on the shoulder. "You were awesome," she said with a giggle.

Adamantine covered her eyes as the dark, shadowy ball of scary energy flew towards her, and she looked up with surprise when the attack never connected. The larger Manectric had took the hit instead, and the young Pokemon blinked curiously - why had it taken the attack for her? "Keegan," Kasiya said, mirroring Ada's thoughts as she shook her head at her battle partner.

Baldy, meanwhile, had a nasty grin on his face as he pointed a finger first at Keegan and then at Themis. "You want to play hero, boy? Well fine then, let's see how you like this! Lunatone, hit that Manectric with Confusion!" he shouted. No sooner, however, had the Lunatone sent off the attack when it felt the full force of Adamantine's wrath upon it. Having been protected by Themis, the young Larvitar felt the need to repay the favor and had gone into a fit of rage and used Thrash, without being told to. Kasiya frowned at Ada's recklessness and kept her hand ready on the young Pokemon's Pokeball in case she needed to be recalled quickly.

What followed for M.A. and crew was an idyllic picnic scene. Not entirely typical, with M.A.'s Mary-Poppin-like equipment that somehow collapsed neatly into her bag and pipin' hot spaghetti rather than sandwiches, but it had that right feel of relaxation and contentment.

"We miss your cooking," Michael said, eating greedily. "Mom's been getting more air-headed lately; we've had to color our sugar neon pink so she'll figure out when she's using that instead of salt." M.A. laughed; it sounded so much like her.

"You serious?"

"Unfortunately."

"How does this family function without me?"

"We're not too bad off. I can cook... more or less... and Dad can follow instructions to the letter, you know, being the scientific guy he is. Mom's just getting used to doing some of the stuff you used to, and you know her, if you stretch her attention span it grows pretty thin."

M.A. felt a pang of guilt. She used to help her mother a lot, and leaving like this probably meant the woman had to take over it all. Michael noticed her expression; he was a perceptive guy, but it was particularly easy with M.A., whose face usually betrayed everything. "Don't you worry one bit! Kito's taken over a lot of the household stuff happily; he's still a clean-freak, and he's pretty content with being the housepet/keeper/whatever you want to call it."

"Ah... okay..."

"Stop worrying. We operated fine before you were born. We can manage now."

"Alright, alright," M.A. laughed. "Anyways, what have you been doing lately?"

"Well, I'm still working with Rein and our conditioning place. I may or may not go back to coordinating for a while, for fun, but I don't know. We actually were thinking about moving our joint to Slateport, and if we do, that would keep me busy. It would be perfect for us, though; I think I know of someone who might sell the lease on this roomy building, too."

"So, what's keeping you?"

"Well. . ." Michael blushed, and M.A. would have made fun of him for it if she hadn't wanted to know what he would say next so badly. "I was thinking I'd ask Rein if she'd like to tie the knot with me first."

"AH! Really?!" M.A. gasped, smiling broadly. Rein had been his girlfriend for the last three years, and they were an amazingly cute couple. She loved the young woman, too.

"Yeah, I'll ask her on our birthday," he said, grinning sheepishly; she was a year older than him, but they were born the same day. "When we go to Goldenrod tomorrow, help me pick out a ring, hm?"

Their conversation meandered on over their food while the Pokemon likewise bonded. Jin and Ulani found that they got along with each other seamlessly as they pranked and teased the other Pokemon. Daemyn's quick temper made him the most challenging and fun target, so he was the center of their attention, much to his dismay. In truth, however, he had fun too. Even stoic Spade, who had the most boring reactions to speak of, was seen smirking at all of their antics.

"Themis!" Keegan cried out, his voice filled with concern as the Manectric was blasted by the psychic attack. Shaking himself off, however, the electric type stood tall, baring his fangs at both of his opponents as if to let them know he wouldn't be taken down so easily. Keegan frowned as he saw Ada lose control, and he knew by now that the Lunatone was at least part rock type, and that her thrashing about wouldn't be very effective. He nodded to his Pokemon, and pointed at the moon-shaped Lunatone. "Themis, Thunderbolt it again! It can't take too much more!" he called. Themis stepped forward, launching another volley of electricity towards the strange rock type Pokemon.

Salt and Pepper turned to Banette and smiled. "I've had just about enough of all these Thunderbolts flying around," he said, scratching his chin. "Banette, Spite!" The ghost type didn't have to be told its target as it looked to Themis and grinned devilishly before it began to wave its arms around in intricate gestures. A sickly grey aura seemed to engulf Themis before it disappeared into him, and after a moment or so it shot out again, leaving Themis looking slightly dazed as to what just happened. "I doubt your Manectric will be feeling up to using Thunderbolt for the rest of the battle," Salt and Pepper laughed cruelly. As though to confirm it, Themis looked to Keegan and shook his head sadly.
=====
Having defeated Jessica, Miharu continued to make her way through the maze of flower boxes, slightly annoyed that she could barely see over the masses of colourful flowers. From what Jessica had said, there were at least two more trainers around, and Miharu kept her eyes open, wondering if she would have to leave the gym for a round of healing before coming back to confront Whitney.

She rounded a corner and came face to face with another girl who was about the same height as Miharu. The two stared at each other for a moment or two before they laughed and stepped back. "You must be the girl who beat Jessica," she said, studying Miharu closely. "Well, I'll be your opponent now. My name is Megan. Let's change the pace of things and have a double battle!"

"Sounds great," Miharu smiled, nodding. "I'm Miharu; pleased to meet you." The two girls took their positions before they each sent out two Pokemon. On Megan's side, a Meowth and a Raticate appeared, while Miharu chose to send out Starrie and Aska. Deciding to not waste any time, Miharu issued her commands first. "Aska, Quick Attack! Starrie, Water Gun!" she called. For a second, the two Pokemon just looked at each other, and a feeling of understanding overcame them both. Aska flapped her wings and zipped forward, a streak of white light trailing behind her as she aimed her attack for the Raticate. Starrie hopped up, its core twinkling as a stream of water was fired out of its top point, scoring a direct hit onto the Meowth.

The Lunatone took the full force of Themis' Thunderbolt, and it fell to the ground, twitching a little. It looked towards Ada and closed its eyes as it sent off one final Confusion attack at the young Larvitar. Between the psychic energy and Adamantine's Thrashing, the two Pokemon were too exhausted to continue battling. Both Kasiya and Baldy recalled their respective Pokemon, each giving the other a nasty look as they did so. "We underestimated 'em, friend," Baldy murmured to Salt and Pepper, holding up his last Pokeball, which was in fact an Ultra Ball. "I hoped it wouldn't come down to this, but we have no choice. Go!" He flung the ball, and Kasiya was startled to see the strange creature that came from it - it was a Skarmory.

Kasiya turned to look at her remaining four Pokemon, and was a bit shocked to see that each of them was on their feet, ready to jump into action if Kasiya called for it. She smiled at the display of loyalty, and nodded to Flash. The Jolteon quickly dashed over to his trainer's side, allowing her to give him a quick pat on the head before he took his place next to Themis on the battlefield. "Okay Flash, give that Skarmory your Thunderbolt!" she said, knowing that Flash's powerful Electric-type attacks would quickly finish the Skarmory. The Jolteon's hair stood up in spiky patches as the energy was generated inside of him. With a sharp bark he let it fly.

"Hmm, not so fast," Baldy chuckled, waggling a finger. "Skarmory, use Protect!" A glowing green shield surrounded the Armor Bird just as the Thunderbolt was about to strike it, causing the electricity to scatter and miss its intended target.

Dammit, Kasiya thought, kicking the ground with her foot and looking to Keegan.

When the doors to the elevator opened, Jaeshan found himself looking into perhaps the largest office he had ever seen. It seemed the entire top floor was dedicated to being Mr Stone's office, and as the trainer stepped inside, he was surprised to see shelves and cases filled with stones. Jaeshan moved towards the first displace case he came across and he peered within, spotting many semi-precious stones as well was rare gems and other rocks and stones. He saw a cut of raw quartz as well as a gorgeous hunk of amethyst, many different types of agate as well as many others he didn't recognize. He had a good look around before he spotted a large, mahogany desk at the far end of the office, and a large leather chair with its back turned towards him. Jaeshan could hear a man's voice; it seemed Mr Stone was on the phone. Deciding to be patient, Jaeshan looked around the office again, this time turning his attention to the photos on the wall. Some were of rocks and gems, and others were of Pokemon. Jaeshan noted one photograph in particular, which showed all of the evolution stones currently known to man - Fire, Water, Thunder, Leaf, Moon and Sun. Jaeshan wasn't about to turn down the possibility that there were others out there just waiting to discovered.

For some reason this reminded Robin of her last single battle with Raz, the Yanma dragging around that Bellsprout. She hoped this wasn't becoming a habit. Sighing she shook her head and dramatically pointing again, Luffy once again joining her happily she ordered for another SonicBoom. "Try to shake it off all right?" Raz made a small chirping sound before glowing slightly under Speed Boost and taking off in another SonicBoom attack the Oddish hanging desperately onto its back. When Raz stopped the small grass pokemon was barely hanging on and looking worse for wear.

Sam stared at his pokemon for a moment before sighing slightly, yes the Oddish could battle on but there wasn't much it could do against the Yanma. "You did great Oddish, we just had a disadvantage this battle." Recalling the Oddish he grinned at them. "Thank you for the battle. Sorry it was so short."

Once again surprised by how nice this trainer was Robin stared at him for a moment before grinning and nodding her head. "If I ever pass by again I would love to have a rematch." Seeing that the battle was over Raz did a few flips as he flew over to where Robin was standing.

"Sounds great to me. If I ever see you again I will make sure that our next battle is better then this one. Oddish and I will be training to make sure of that." Sam said with a smile.

"Well I have a lot of training to do myself so look out."

That all said in done they waved goodbye to each other and Robin felt like she had meet someone she would see again. Congratulating Raz Robin put him back into his parkball and waited for Ampersand to make his way over to them.

"Great job you two. It looks like you made a new friend. Unfortunately we still have a long way to go." Ampersand reminded them with a small smirk on his face.

Groaning slightly Robin adjusted her bag and held onto Luffy as they continued down the path towards Pewter City.

Keegan hadn't really noticed the Skarmory block Flash's Thunderbolt by using Protect, as he had been busy trying to think of a way to defeat the Banette. Kasiya said dark and ghost type moves, he thought, scratching his chin. "Themis, use Bite attack on it!" Themis didn't need to be told his target as the Manectric charged forward, intent on sinking his teeth into the pesky ghost type. Keegan closed his eyes and tried to think about who he would send out next if Themis were to be knocked out. Artemis would have a hard time against the Skarmory, that's for sure, but at least her flying moves could hit the Banette... Althena's attacks would work well enough too, and then there's Loki... Loki knows Bite and Crunch, so he could probably take down that stupid ghost... He opened his eyes again in time to see Themis nimbly dodge a hastily thrown Shadow Ball from the Banette and he sighed. Themis wouldn't last too much longer; as tough as he was it seemed the Manectric still needed to work on his stamina.
=====
Megan took a step back, a bit surprised at how quickly Miharu had shifted into battle-mode. "You don't waste any time, do you?" she asked, laughing a bit. Her Pokemon looked just as stunned as she was; both shaking off the hits and preparing to attack.

Miharu just grinned, placing her hands on her hips. "He who hesitates is lost, or something to that effect," she said, shrugging. Both of her Pokemon looked quite eager to continue with the fight, and she smiled at Megan. "Your move," she said simply.

Megan studied the Pidgeotto and Staryu for a moment, and then nodded. "Okay Raticate, use your Bite attack on that bird! Meowth, Scratch attack on Staryu! Go!" Giving a bit of a screech, the large rat Pokemon dashed forward, using its powerful legs to jump up into the air. It somehow managed to get a hold on Aska's leg and drag the Pidgeotto down a bit before Aska was able to shake the Raticate off. The Meowth seemed to hesiate a bit, not liking the fact that it had been soaked by the star-shaped Pokemon, and it too let out an angry growl before it raced across the floor towards Starrie. It reared back and let its claws fly, leaving a stinging mark on one of Starrie's pointed appendages.

((I'm pretty sure Mag is a few days back also, cue time skip))

Mag and his pokemon continued their training. So far two days had resulted in much improvement in Shining and Shadow. The two Eevee were becoming more accurate in their attacks. Shadow was able to launch his Hidden Power into the bull’s-eye of the targets in 7 of 10 tries. Shining had shown the most improvement by being in great control over her Quick Attack. Though Mag was focusing on the two newbies to his team, he had not forgotten about his old pals Sunfire and Tsunami. They also had been having sparring matches while their teammates were doing their target practice.

"Okay guys. We've been doing some good work so far but now let's try out something that will really put you two," looking at Shining and Shadow, "to the test. You guys are going to battle Sunfire and Tsunami." The pokemon glanced at each other and then nodded. "Okay, Sun, Tsu, I need you guys to take it a little easy but you're all pretty close so you don't have to hold back much. Just don't burn them Sun, I don't want to have to go back and get some ointment." Mag instructed. "I'm going to command both sides here but I'm focusing on the Eevee so feel free to try out whatever tactics you want." Mag directed at the evolved forms of Eevee. "So, let's get started!" The pokemon took their sides of the clearing.

"Both of you use your Quick Attack!" Mag instructed. The two Eevee were off in blurs of light as the two evolutions also began to use their quick attacks. An interesting spectacle, four white lights with two brown blobs in the front and one with a red and another with a blue leader. The two brown streaks moved at each of the opposing ones but it seemed that their enemies were more coordinated and the colored Quick Attackers both homed in on the same Eevee, Shining. The collision sent her flying while Shadow diverted his attack and managed to soften her landing by going beneath her. "Nice gesture Shadow, but Sun and Tsu were wide open to your attack and would have probably collided if you had hit one of them. The battle just began so it is okay for Shi to get some damage right now if it will help take down your opponent.”

“Shadow Ball Sunfire, Hidden Power Shadow!” Mag ordered. Since their attacks were of similar type (and hopefully power) they should cancel out the damage they would cause if they managed to hit. Shadow stood as the ghostly orbs formed around him they moved in a quick circle around his body before becoming one giant orb that he shot with his mouth. Sunfire similarly began his attack as a black and purple orb formed in his mouth it grew to the proper size and he also sent the shot that looked like a miniature Ghastly. The attacks collided but the Shadow Ball proved to be the stronger of the two and pushed through the blast forcing Shadow to use a Quick Attack to dodge the incoming blast.

Kasiya could see the fatigue starting to grip at Themis, and she sighed, looking towards their two remaining opponents. They had said to use as many Pokemon as necessary, and even if Flash were to be knocked out, she still had Seto here. The Persian was currently her strongest Pokemon, but she wasn't about to give up on Flash just yet. "Flash, get in there and give Themis a hand!" she shouted, looking towards the Banette, yet still keeping an eye on the Skarmory. Something about the way the bird's body squeaked and screeched when it moved was getting to her, and she couldn't wait until they were blasting it to oblivion with Thunderbolts.

Flash darted in between the Manectric and Banette, giving Themis a look that clearly said "don't worry." Steadying himself, the Jolteon began to focus, and orbs of energy began to form around him. They soon came together to form a ball of icy energy, and the Jolteon let his Hidden Power fly.

Not too concerned with the Jolteon, Baldy snapped his fingers to gain his Skarmory's attention. The metallic bird looked to its trainer, nodding as the small roundish man pointed at Themis. Giving a screech, the Skarmory used its hollow wings to glide across the ground, where it then proceeded to attack the Manectric with a vicious Fury Attack.

Jaeshan continued to study the photos on the wall, finding them to be all of near-professional quality. He turned his attention to a larger photo, trimmed in a gold-edged frame, and smiled. Mr Stone was standing next to a lanky young man - was easily as tall as Jaeshan - with his hand on his shoulder. Both were smiling, and after a moment or so Jaeshan realized that the young man in the picture was none other than Steven Stone, currently the Pokemon Champion of the Hoenn region. (I know in Emerald it's Wallace but pooh on snooty Wallace, he can stay a gym leader!)) Steven was holding onto an impressive trophy, and Mr Stone looked as though he would explode from a mixture of pride and excitement. Jaeshan closed his eyes and smiled. He remembered watching that match on TV not too long ago. He could see himself standing there, on the podium. Thousands of fans were cheering and shouting, and he could barely make out his opponent on the other side of the battlefield. A mighty Blaziken stood proudly before him, then suddenly jumped forward, fists glowing with power. A powerful uppercut was then delivered, and the large Aggron toppled over, unable to stand up to Fighting-type attacks. He was the winner, he was the champion...

"..'scuse me sonny, you gonna stand there all day?" came a voice, and Jaeshan snapped out of his daydream and found himself looking down at Mr Stone. The president chuckled and looked up at the photo with a wistful smile. "My boy, Steven," he said with a nod. "No one believed him when he said he was going to become the champion, and now look at him." Mr Stone sighed and shook his head. "So what brings you to my humble office?" he asked, looking to Jaeshan again.

Jaeshan explained what had happened, including how he had stopped the Rocket and brought back the parcel, which he now held out to Mr Stone with a slightly shaky hand. "The officers trusted me to bring this back to you," he said, shrugging as the man took it from him.

"Hmm, these are more photos from Steven," Mr Stone said knowingly, opening the seam and rifling through a few of its contents. "He's been traveling, trying to find more rare stones for our collection. It's a hobby of ours, you see, collecting stones." Jaeshan simply nodded, despite how obvious that fact was. "Don't know what that filthy Rocket wanted with these, but I am grateful for your help, uh," he gestured towards Jaeshan, indicating that he had no clue what his name was.

"Jaeshan," he said simply. "It's hard to tell what Team Rocket is thinking," he added, thinking back to that time he had followed Kasiya to the top of the Silph Co. building, and he shuddered. "They all need to be put in jail."

"My thoughts exactly," Stone said with a nod. He walked over to his desk and placed the parcel of photos on top of it. "I need to thank you for your kindness, either way," he said, more mumbling to himself than anything else. "I've got it!" he said after a moment or two. He pulled a box from a drawer on his desk, as well as an envelope, and practically thrust them at Jaeshan. "This is the latest model of PokeNav," he said proudly. "They haven't been released yet, but they have access to all sorts of things. They are better than ever! I also want you to have this. People give my son all sorts of things now that he is champion, but he doesn't really need them. This here is a bike coupon, you can use it to get a discount on a brand new bike from Rydell's Cycles in Mauville City. Go on, take it!"

"Wow, thank you, Sir," Jaeshan said, a little bit surprised at the president's gesture. "I don't know what to say!"

"Just keep up the good work, Jaeshan," Stone said with a nod. "It's kids like you who help brighten the future of the world. And besides, you remind me of my son." He grinned and chuckled, something which Jaeshan couldn't help but mirror. The two chatted for a bit longer before Jaeshan leaf the Devon building, but not before exchanging phone numbers with the president. This is turning out to be quite a good day, Jaeshan thought, smiling as he headed towards the Pokemon Center.

"Well, this is it, Iris.. Rustboro City." Ryka said with a smile.

It seems like.. it's been so long. Ryka wandered down the main street of the town, occasionally stopping to let running children pass by. Quite a few children stopped to pet Iris. I guess they haven't seen many Johto Pokemon around here.. Ryka thought as she watched a little fiery-haired girl try to grab Iris's tail. Iris swung her tail back and forth, teasing the girl. Once the girl's mother called her for supper, Ryka and Iris were on the move again.

Ryka probably looked a bit suspicious, the way she kept looking for something.. or someone. As she neared the Pokemon Center, she noticed a familiar figure approaching the building. Ryka smiled to herself.
Jaeshan.
