Riyo hadn't noticed the fact that there were now people heading toward her. She was engulfed in the amazement of talking to a bird. You heard me. Riyo smiled and continued to stare. "Caw!" She shouted. "Caw!" It squaked back. She thought for a moment before responding again. "Caw!" A squak came from another direction. Just then, another raven landed and perched next to the first one. Riyo gasped and smiled. She was just making friends all over the place now! "Caw, caw!" She said to the new bird. "Caw!" Came another, this one landing on her shoulder.
Riyo's eyes widened. She looked at the bird that was now perching on her and blinked. "N-nyuu?" She asked it. The raven only stared back. She scratched her head for a moment and shrugged. It was still cool. She reached up a finger and scratched under the closest one's beak. She didn't know why she was so popular all of the sudden, but she was drinking up the attention like a thirsty flower. Of course, she didn't seem to notice the group of ravens gathered along the side of the roof. "Friends, nyuu!" She shouted happily, getting a "Caw!" From all of them at different times.

Well, that certainly hadn't been what Yuki had expected. Not to say he wasn't a little happy that this man didn't want to fight, since he really didn't want to risk being injured. Again, that is. Things had certainly not been in his favor in the last twenty-four hours. He watched with a bit of a scowl as X took his leave, quietly letting out a sigh of relief. Kyo was still there, but perhaps things wouldn't lean toward violence since his fighting partner had left? At least, that's what Yuki assumed they had been, since the first one had been talking to him like they knew each other well enough.
"Well, that was just rude." Hitsu scolded loudly toward Neko, as soon as X was no longer easily visible through the crowd. "Was that really necessary, Neko?"
Rolling his eyes, Yuki didn't get involved. Instead, he turned his attention away from the potential argument at hand. Looking at Riyo, he cocked a brow. A step was taken to close what small distance there was between them, and he reached out to place an open hand between Riyo's face and the crow she so innocently petted. "You know, that's dangerous. They love shiny things, like your eyes for example." He explained, using his free hand to gesture toward one of his own eyes in hopes he'd be understood.
Apparently, the crow had been enjoying the attention, and Yuki gave a startled yelp as it gave a disgruntled cry and clamped its beak around one of his fingers. "********!" He barked, jerking his hand away. His shout, like Riyo's, brought a chorus of crowing from the birds. "God, I hate birds!" More crowing. It was like they were laughing, that's what he always thought. "Get off!" He demanded, making to physically shove the raven from Riyo's shoulder so that it didn't try to bite her as well, if it even had that idea.

“Hmph,” Neko stood a little straighter eyeing X curiously as he walked away. “Strange old coot.” Spinning his blade idly on his finger he turned his attention to Kyo, even for only a moment, as if trying to judge if he would try anything or not. But before he could really determine anything Hitsu had yelled at him for something. “What??” He turned toward her. “You are just far too trusting of people.” He snapped back. “Here I had to convince Yuki you were old enough to be out of your own and take care of yourself and you go and hook up with strange old men.” Neko sighed sheathing one of his blades but still keeping the other out incase he needed it. “I mean, he could have been some sick freak looking to snatch up pretty young maidens to have his way with them.” Neko motioned a lot with his hands as he talked his other blade still looped around his finger spinning as he moved his hand.
Mitsu waved a little sadly as X left wondering if she would ever see him again. “But he’s not a bad man.” Mitsu said softly, mostly to herself. At least if anything she was a fairly good judge of character and he didn’t have that creepy vibe, at least not like Suto had. While X’s presence was strong and bold he also had a sense of kindness about him. Aiming to prove her point she pulled out a gold coin from the new bag she had tied to her side and showed it to Neko. “He gave me a bunch of these pretty shiny things. The people take them and give you cot….cot…cotton candy.” It took a moment for Mitsu to spit out what she was trying to say having slightly forgotten what she had had.
“Paying for company, that makes everything better,” Neko grumbled as he turned his attention back toward Kyo, his eyes still glimmering dangerously. He wasn’t sure what this guy had in mind but he didn’t like that smile one bit.
Not understanding what Neko meant, Mitsu turned to question Yuki but he seemed to be busy with Riyo’s new friend. Ears lowering a bit at the sides of her head, Mitsu eyed the growing population of ravens nervously. Ever since the chicken incident birds had bad memories for her whether they were the same kind of bird or not.

When Kyo watched X leave without a fight, to say that his heart sank was putting it lightly; it felt like the world had been pulled out from underneath it. He left the entryway, and lit a cigarette. The war drums had started. A spell had been mostly cast. And he had been so long without someone that was skilled enough to injure him.
"The thrillsssss not in the killing kid. If it were, ssssson, you'd be dead by now." Kyo said aloud to no one in particular, in an imitation of one of the deadliest men he had ever met. The 's' sounds were like venomous hisses, and the accent was a southern drawl so thick you couldn't stir it with a spoon. Kyo chuckled at the sound of his own voice. It was almost a perfect match.
"The stars are aligned," he blew out a puff of smoke as he gestured with his hands, "and all the pieces are in place." Kyo's peircing gaze was directed at Neko as he spit out his half-used smoke, and crushed it under his shoe. "How about it? Not much sense in wasting such a perfect setup," His right hand gripped the writhing hilt of his sword, while his left began to glow eerily as he put more energy into his spell, "Not much sense at all."

It was quite considerate of kyo to lend his wolf companion to pokes walking plight, allowing her to ride the animal towards the girls and out of the mens way. In truth, she would of loved to be in the thick of it, fighting off the guys as well, but there were a few problems that would of prevented her being anything but a target or in someones way.
The alchohol seemed to be wearing off, at any rate. As the men's tempers flared and then suddenly subsided, she was able to stand on her own two feet again without feeling dizzy or weak. However it didn't seem to matter as of now x had suddenly walked away from the fight
"just..what the hell is going on here?" she mumbled, then noticing riyo and the bird that had pearched on her shoulder. Looking up, she then saw the other ravens on the roof. Apparently birds nowdays liked to hang out with cat girls.
as she listened to poor mitsu trying to stammer her excuses, she decided that for once, she'd do something more then get drunk. "you know, you could, be a tad nicer to the poor girl" she told him off. "I doubt she would of known better nayway!" Though, her words went unoticed. Apparently kyo was still in the mood for a fight, and she blinked at neko and kyo a few times.

A feral hiss left Neko’s throat as he stood on guard again, firmly holding his blade in his left hand. His unblinking eyes locked onto Kyo as they began to shimmer like ice in the moonlight. While X had apparently been keen to let the battle die his ‘companion’, as Neko had deemed him, seemed to have other ideas. The sudden accent seemed to confuse Neko, he wasn’t sure who he was trying to sound like but it didn’t seem to phase him much otherwise.
“A waste you say?” Neko practically growled as he drew back his left arm, his right hand grabbing for another blade. As his left hand stayed back, poised ready for action, a black flame engulfed his blade spreading all the way up his arm. Uncertain where his focus should really be, the large sword at Kyo’s back or his glowing hand, both being a concern Neko shifted uncomfortably. Not waiting to find out which would do more damage, Neko started to move taking to higher ground via rooftops. As his first footfalls hit the ceramic tiled roofing the ravens that had been siting there scattered and flew elsewhere.
Through their startled caws and flapping wings Neko strained to listen to any sound of pursuit as he continued upward. Satisfied with the ground he had gained Neko finally turned back to look at Kyo, his blue orbs becoming overcast in furious gray storm clouds. Despite himself an eerie smile began to play across his lips curling them at the corners. “Let’s play.”
Mitsu let out a shriek when Neko took to the rooftops afraid that things were about to get out of hand. Her shrill sound seemed to agitate some of the nearby ravens as they cried out their displeasure but she paid them no mind for the time being her eyes focused on Neko. She didn’t want him to get hurt. “Don’t fight! Please!” Trying to break free of Yuki Mitsu tried to find a way up onto the roof to get to Neko to hopefully make him stop. Luckily or Unluckily for her climbing wasn’t her forte so her ability to follow Neko was slightly hindered as she searched for something to jump on to get her higher.

Kyo's tongue rolled out of his mouth and his eyes narrowed. Chase was the only word that echoed throughout his mind. Kyo ran along the ground, keeping an eye on Neko. He did this until Lady Luck threw a little his way. He lept onto a crate, to an awning, to the rooftop. The feline had gained a frustrating amount of distance, but Kyo was at an advantage. From back here could fire spells at Neko all night, however unsatisfying it would be.
Kyo let loose the spell, 'Burden of Sin' and began to cast another, more vicious spell. It looked like a vague shimmer hurtling towards Neko. Were it to strike, it would feel like a two hundred pound man had hitched a ride piggy-back style for about half a minute. Wielding his sword, he quickened his pace in anticipation.

Riyo's ears went back as Yuki had stopped her from giving attention from her feathered friend. Her eyes widened as Yuki shouted. She caught a glympse of his finger. The bird had done that... As Yuki took a swing at the raven, it took to the sky. "CAW!" It shouted as it flew around Riyo's head before taking off in a northern direction. The ravens all watched it for a moment, spread their wings, then seemed to take of in synchronization. The sound of crowing filled the air. Some of them flew by Riyo, others stayed overhead, but all of them took off after the first one. It was as if the sky went dark for a moment. Some of the townsfolk stopped to watch, most of them with horror on their face. It was like a bad omen.
Riyo frowned and turned in the direction all the ravens flew off in. Her face looked like she'd just lost her best friend. "No more friend, nyuu..." She mumbled and looked to the ground. She felt some kind of connection to them.. It was strange, and unlike anything she'd ever felt. Now she felt... Well... Empty.

Just barely able to move in time, Neko avoided the attack by diving to the side edging his way closer to the top of the roof. In mid dive, Neko threw his flaming blade toward Kyo’s charging form, aiming at his lower legs, more specifically his knees. Once his hand was free he drew it up to block his face from flying debris and pieces of ceramic tile being thrown in every which direction due to the spell Kyo had cast. A few shards of tile left tiny cuts along Neko’s arm, crimson beading up into tiny gems along the wounds.
Paying his small injuries little mind, Neko quickly grabbed for another blade to replace the one he had just thrown and made another attempt to gain more ground along the now damaged roof. Instead of turning to run, however, Neko made his journey jumping backwards, keeping his eyes focused on Kyo encase he were to step close enough for his mind control to take effect. True this left him vulnerable to unseen things in his path but it also gave him a greater chance to gain the upper hand. The whole while he willed the man to make eye contact with him his eyes shining like the very stars in the heavens. If Kyo started to get too close and made eye contact he would feel his mind begin to waver in thought. The closer he would get the stronger the hold would be.

Kyo had anticipated that Neko's feline agility would allow him to dodge the spell. He also knew at least one of the little blades would be sent his way. Before Neko had even began to dive, Kyo had started to move the broad blade of his sword in front of him like a shield. By the time the flaming blade was on its way, Kyo's defense had already been set up.
"Fire? He set his blade on fire?" He said to Many-as-One as the knife bounced off of his sword. "Do something about those damned things. And M," Kyo said pointedly, "make sure he knows what low regards we hold his intelligence in."
Without even a word of acknowledgement, Many-as-one rushed out of a spot on Kyo's spine. His being stretched to a thin cord, save for his head. It was a black silhouette with malevolent eyes. His face stopped inches in front of Neko's. He didn't know if Neko could see him or not; (though his intent was to obscure his vision) but he knew that he could hear him. He moved to stay in front of Neko's face as he continued to jump backwards. "Fire, boy? The best you could hope for is to put out an eye." He hissed in his many voices. "Even if you managed to hit a vein with your sloppy throwing technique, you'd just burn it shut. What are you thinking?"
Kyo's spell was nearly done, and he hoped that Neko had enough spirit sense that he couldn't see past Many-as-one. His plan had inadvertantly saved him from Neko's gaze, though he had no idea of that particular danger. For Kyo, Many-as-one was as solid as anything else.

Seeing his blade bounce off Kyo’s overly large sword, Neko grumbled in disappointment as he took a quick glance back to see where he was going. The end of the roof was coming up quickly but there was another rooftop close by. Snapping his head back to face Kyo once again Neko was met with an alarming sight. A being or sorts was manifesting itself from Kyo’s back, a odd blackish thing with eyes that to Neko promised death. “Great.” Unsure if the creature was intent to attack or not Neko swiped out at him with his blade. “Away from me!” He hissed as he found the edge of the roof with the heel of his foot. For a short second he was unsteady but he quickly took a large leap backward and just managed to land neatly on the next roof.
Reaching to his side Neko ran his fingers into the loops of four more blades drawing them up neatly with his right hand. He paid the creatures chatter little mind, demons were always so talkative, he would know. Instead he tried to refocus his vision on his true enemy, the man pulling the strings though it was hard with the thing constantly in his face. “You really are a burden aren’t you?” Neko asked casually ducking from side to side to regain his vision. The more he tried to focus he could almost see through the creature to Kyo but as soon as he started to see he would loose whatever mind set he had and the creature’s body would once again become opaque. Was this creature…an illusion?

A thump on the roof had disturbed her from her relaxed state. "What the hell was that?" she mumbled to herself. With a bit of a groan and sigh, she stood up and looked through the window and down the street to see a crowd of people gathered looking in the direction of the shop. "I guess I better so see what the ruckus is all about." she said as she walked to the back of the shop and out into the garden. Reaching out for her sheep she sighed,"Come on Pompodourio, lets see who put a hole in our roof again." She mounted the sheep like a horse and began to ride out to the front of the shop and down the road. She saw a crowd of people and a group of girls gathered in front of Daelik's inn. "Yay! someone is going to get their butts kicks and then they will have to come to the shop and get some anesthetic for their wounds." She looked in the direciton the crowd was looking at and noticed that one of the fighters was none other than one of her best customers, Neko. "He gets himself into so much unwarrented trouble. Le' sigh." She continued to watch on within the crowd.

Many-as-One's "tongue" lolled out of his mouth when Neko started to dodge around, trying to avoid him. He started having fun when he found out he was obscuring the catfolk's vision. "My, you have strange eyes." He said, reaching his intangible "tongue" out to lick one of them. Even though as a spirit entity such an action was pointless, he still enjoyed the reaction it often brought.
Kyo's spell had completed, so he reached out his left hand. In front of it a large space began to glow with a soft white light. Looking at it would give anyone a feeling of peace and calm. Anyone except Kyo, that is. Suddenly, something began to appear in the soft glow, vaguely the shape of a crucifix. When it had fully materialized, the 'Guilty Cross' hung in the gentle light. Roughly eight feet long and six across, it appeared to be made out of a metal-like substance. While its edges were honed to a razor's sharpness, its ends came to glimmering points. Leading his shot, Kyo loosed the Holy bolt at Neko when he would be at the apex of his next jump; so as to catch him while he was moving the slowest.
The amalgamation of demon souls felt the 'Guilty Cross' as it worked its way towards him. He stayed in Neko's face as long as he could before moving away. It was partly to give the guy a fighting chance. No, not really. Even though he was ethereal, Holy spells hurt like hell when they passed through him. He cursed his self-servitude for giving the enemy any quarter, but then it would allow the fight to continue. That alone made him smile.

When the demon thing reached out a tongue toward Neko’s eye he flinched back to move away from its touch though he quickly realized the creature wasn’t there. Well, it was there but it was more of an illusion as he had originally anticipated. Taking another unsteady step back Neko began to slide down the roof tile a bit and too his own advantage. He had not seen the spell that Kyo had cast until it was almost too late. When the creature moved from his line of vision Neko had just mere seconds to react and continued his decent down the tiled roof.
His effort to dodge, though mostly successful, didn’t keep him fully out of harms way. The very tip of one side of the crucifix sliced across his chest leaving a sizzling gaping wound. Clenching his teeth against the pain Neko pressed a hand to the wound as blood began to bubble up and down his front. The bleeding didn’t concern him much more the burning sensation he had gotten from the contact. “Holy spells, nice touch.” Neko smiled drawing up a crimson painted hand to examine. The bleeding would stop soon enough but a little payback was in order. Kyo had yet to bleed and that was rather unfair.
With his hand still held in front of him a dark energy started to swirl in his palm devouring the blood as it grew in size. With the blood sacrifice it took the spell little time to gather into a two foot wide sphere that hovered in place like a dark moon. In one swift motion Neko drew his hand back with the spell forcing the energy to break up into thin black disks. Focusing on Kyo an eerie smile played across Neko’s lips as he hurled the spell toward him the disks flying in all directions but all heading toward the same destination. Some would be aimed at his torso while others would be aimed at his feet. There would be a small explosion on contact but mostly the spell was intended to inflict deep lacerations.

The spell had come hard and fast. Kyo didn't even have time to assess whether or not he had made any kind of contact with his own spell. He skid to a halt and poured pure magicka into a thin barrier to stop the malevolent disks, which would cost him most of his higher level spells as well as limit the amount of weaker spells he could cast. Though he regretted not being able to use his "massive crater-leaving" spells, he was confident that he had enough in him to finish the job. He would soon regret his knee-jerk reaction, however, as he failed to analyze the kind of spell the man had thrown at him. The disks smashed into the wall and stayed there.
The magic disks wiggled in place for a split second, giving Kyo enough time to raise an eyebrow before they exploded. All at the same time. The shockwave threw him backwards and shattered his protective shell, sending bits of pointy shrapnel made of his own magicka back at him. A long slender piece pierced his shoulder, while others hardly large enough to be bothersome had torn through his clothes and become embedded in his skin. Thin rivulets of blood ran out of the many tiny wounds, while the fleshwound in his shoulder let out quite a bit more.
The pain was wonderful. Kyo's eyes rolled back in his head as he pushed the shard deeper into his shoulder. To hurt. To be hurt. That was the glory of the fight. He found his feet. His mind was focused. His eyes were wide. He felt alive. The wardrums had become pounding thunder in his ears.
Reaching into his coat pocket, Kyo produced the last spell scroll he owned. He placed it on the ground and activated it. Six pillars of lightning erupted from the sky and fell downward in a circle with a diameter of about twelve feet around Kyo. Lightning shield. He pushed his sword down into the roof, and into a load-bearing column, found by stomping around a little bit, four feet from the center of the circle. There he began to work on a minor summoning. Within his defenses he felt safe from spells.
Many-as-One had tried to keep up with Neko, but when his maximum distance had been reached, he began to fall back. "You may want to start fighting with your head," He grinned, "You might not live to regret doing otherwise." He shouted as he moved to return to his master.
