I know you weren't - that's my point.
You're talking about like soccer and s**t, or karate, where they have to cater to any number of contestants at a time. Mainstream s**t that becomes as homogenized as anything else over time.
I'm talking about the GTB being like Mortal Kombat compared to a typical real-life tournament. Where people fight each other unrealistically, and do crazy a** s**t. A tournament where even if your proper opponent doesn't show up for some reason, you KNOW you're going to be fighting someone or something, one way or another.

In Mortal Kombat they would have the guy just fight the OP judge, not spend 3 weeks finding someone, nerfing their profile, and then slap box.
If anything I would imagine the GTB would be more like the actual Tenkaichi Budokai and there would be qualifiers that limited it to an 8 man tournament where you wouldn't have these problems when it mattered.
But it's not.

I thought this tournament was like the DBZ style tournaments.
Not Mortal Kombat/Enter The Dragon/''TOSS YOU IN AN ISLAND ONLY THE STRONG MAY SURVIVE'' type of tournment.
