*Looking aft, Captain Kurisutofa scanned the shore for the ship's company that should be soon shipbound. He'd expected them earlier.*

"Doctor Baxter's 12 hours of shoreleave was up about 6 hours ago."

*Just barley able to make out the docks, there she was once again.
The dark haired woman was standing just above the water now, almost floating. She looked like a forelorn maiden waiting for her love to return from sea.*

"Is it the Lady you seek?"

Lutra gave a half salute, a "yessir" and ran downstairs.

Able to catch her breath she notices a figure standing upon the ship. They seem to be looking towards shore and she wonders whether she knows them, whether she should wave.

Her head is spinning with complications. Complications that took her away from the second home she had grown to love. Complications that tore her heart into two peices, given to two different men but always belonging to the sea.

Tentitively she raises her parisol in a salut.

Well, whoever you are, you must see me now

Syn De Beumont stood near the harbor at the Bay of Toulon, inside the doorway of an abandoned building. Nearby were the remains of the British Bank of Toulon, her former place of occupation. She glanced down at her clothes, giving them a once over to see if anything had gotten ruined in her mad scramble for shelter from the storm. Everything seemed fine to her, but then again, she was no fan of finery and looking sophisticated. She clicked her tongue once and was rewarded by the ruffling of feathers behind her. She glanced backward to eye the macaw perched on an old shelf. "Oi, Tuslo. What do ye think ye are doin' over there?" The slightly insane accountant smirked to herself then turned back to stare at the ocean. She had heard rumors of a pirate ship being in the bay, the very same one that had paid a "visit" before. She had lost an eye when her bank had burned down, but now all she wanted was to get on that ship and flee this miserable town. Surely they needed a Ship's Purser. Thank the seas she didn't look like a useless hussy, what with her clothes and hair.
(Sadly, I have to go for a while. I will be back the first chance I get.)

*Her parisol hypnotizes his mind as he trains his glass upon the figure ashore. He had to see her in person, but the ship needed him first off.

Turning to his dutys, he noticed that the sun was now dying away and the wind was building. His sails billowed like clouds upon a dusky sky. The storm would eat them alive if allowed to do so. It wouldn't last another hour if the gusts kept as they were. It would tired itself out.

Wearing ship would put them right before the storm. Yet, it would be safer to come into dock and furl sails. When the weather dried, they could water, wood & take on the new armorment. Now that the ship was off the beach, she was safe from harms way, but now the wind had her at it's mercy. The Lady had to come aback, takc and come into dock.*

"PREPARE TO COME ABOUT! HELMSMAN! HARD A'LEE!
ALL HANDS TO THE BRACES, FORE & MAIN TOPMEN TAKE IN
THE FORE & MAIN TO'GALLANTS AND SECURE THE RUNNING LINES.

ANOTHER TEN LASHINGS ABOUT THE ANCHORHEAD. I'LL FLOG EVERY HAND ABOARD IF WE LOOSE THAT DAMNED BOWER. STEP LIVELY NOW!"

To her suprise she could hear soft shouts across the water and the boat seemed to be turning about and coming towards shore. The wind filled it's sails making it look just as the picture in her locket. Excited and nervous at the same time she had no idea what to do with herself. She wanted to flee and hide as well as jump into the sea and swim to the ship before it reached land.

Deciding not to jump into the water, she settled on waiting for the ship to reach dock. With her hands entwined into her skirts nervously, she anticipated the awaited reunion.

Noticing that the ship was turning and heading straight for shore, Syn let out a triumphant crow and whistled sharply to Tuslo, who settled onto her shoulder. Hammer held loosely in her hand, she strode out of the building, across the streets and sand to the shore, standing close enough so that she would be visible at least but far enough that she wouldn't have to leap aside when the ship landed.

Her one grey eye gleamed brightly in anticipation as she let out a shrill yet hoarse chuckle. Her dirk hung from the back of her belt, the black-sheathed weapon almost disguised in the wind and rain. She glanced to the side and noticed a dark-haired woman in skirts a little ways away from her. Well, she didn't think clothing like that was very.... practical, but each to their own.

(It seems I'm going to be posting on and off, whenever I can get to a computer.)

*As the bow turned to Starboard and came about, he noticed that the figure was now located just across the ship's port headrail. Would he find out who she was, he did not know. All he knew at that moment was that he had to bring her into port, hopefully without anything being carried away with the wind. The yards and spars, humming with their taut lines, seemed to be holding their own, but one could never know what would happen in a storm such as this.

As the sailed filled loftily, the Lady made wonderful headway, maybe too fast for docking proceedures, but with the want of getting ashore, they'd get there soon enough. As the ship made for shore, the gale picked up it's pace. 17 foot waves began to break over the deck. Fearing that a midshipman would be washed away like yesterdays slop, the Captain through his hat in the binnacle box and steadily made his way to the fiferail at the forepart of the Quarterdeck.*

"MR. ILOR!!! MR. ILOR! I WANT LIFELINES, FORE AND AFT!"

*With the ropes stretched the length of the ship, the Crew would be safe from going overboard, unles sof course they lost their grip. If they were smart, they would stay as inboard as possible so as not to risk their lifes.

As the whitecapped avalanches of waves fell behind them, the Lady was soon to be brought into the safety of the harbor. With the rock-dike between the ship and the deep sea waves, the ship would no longer chance capsizing before reaching it's safe haven...The Lady's Sancuary.

Hearing a shout, she turned her eyes away from the ship and spotted a smudge lying upon the beach. Curious, she made her way across the dock and over scraps of building to the beach. With the parisol over one shoulder to block most of the wind from her face she could see the smudge take shape of a human. Starttled, she tentitively called out to the strange person.

"Hello?!"

Well, even with the wind and rain, she heard the voice. Syn swiveled on her heel to see the woman she had noticed before walking toward her. Well, apparently her own eyesight was better than the woman's, and she only had one eye! Fair enough.

She raised one hand in a mock salute and hollered back, "Oi! Are ye sure it's wise to be out on a grim day like this?" Tuslo huddled close to her head, his wings folded tightly onto his body. He wasn't fond of storms, not in the least.

Would you make a concious choice to be out on a day like this? she retorted to the persons hail. From the voice distorted slightly by the wind she could tell it as femanine. As she drew closer she spotted a tiny little figure with brightly colored wings sitting upon the strangers shoulder.

My name is Lady Melaria, pleased to make your aquaintence.

Sticking out her hand she smiled at the stranger.

Pardon my frankness, but may I ask what you are doing here?

*Descending down from the Quarterdeck onto amidship, he grabbed Mr. Koichi as the youngster slipped and was tossed across the deck like a ragdoll by the pitching and rolling of the ship. Pulling the Midshipman to his feet, he shook him.*

"Standfast and Secure Yourself To The Lifeline When In A Storm. Always. It'll Be Davy Jones For You If Your Not Careful. Now, Go Be Useful, Or Lie Down Below In Your Bunk. Be Off With You!"

*Placing the lifeline in both the Middy's hands, the Captain made his way to the bow. Calling to Mr. Quasan, he beckoned him forward.*

"MR. QUASAN! LAY FOREWARD.
THE LEAD AGAIN, IF YOU PLEASE."

Syn chuckled and waved the hammer toward the remains of the bank with one hand, the other shaking Melaria's hand. "I'm Syn De Beumont. Call me Beumont, Syn, or any variation on the two o' 'em. As for my reason for being out in this weather..."

The bank was once more waved at, the girl laughing in her strange, slightly insane way. "I'm here waitin' for the ship to land. I intend to make my services as an accountant, or a Ship's Purser, known to the Cap'n."

Would you happen to know who the captain of the ship is?

Hoping against hope that the crazy woman still had witts enough to handle such things as a ships account books. She also hoped to hear that he was still alive, still the captain of the beautiful ship she had come to love so many years ago.

"Nay, I'm afraid I don't."

Syn guessed what the woman was thinking and she smirked, tapping a hand to her head. "I may be a little 'off', but I'm really what they call 'insane but competent'. So don't go worrying your pretty head I'm too nuts to be able to do anything worthwhile." She didn't seem insulted by what the woman thought of her; if she was insulted that easily, she'd be a much angrier girl by now. She hadn't even been born this way.
