Dunno. Went to see the actor who co-starred with him in Brokebutt mountain and at 3 am, they found his naked body dead, sleeping pills nearby, but no OD to suggest suicide, at least on the reports of the preliminary findings.

As a Japanese film, its strange, obviously.
Sort of a Matrix feel to it. But it was good for the most part, its lighting is more dramatic than even 300 or Sin City, and at some times things seemed scrabbled.
An apocalyptic feel to it with a bit of twists here and there, though the entire story rolls right out in front of you from the begining, but not grasped completely until the end.
