The difficulty there is knowing who's not meeting their deadlines, when, and what they have done already. The judging process isn't exactly crystal clear as a window for us, ergo unless we have names and know what they've thus far done, we can't know who to blame to even start trying to regulate.

Incentive sounds promising.

-------------

Naota: My fight reached a higher post count than 10 each, and I was gone one day, while my opponent was gone somewhere in the area of 4~5 if you total them all. You're honestly telling me two people actively interested in this and present those days can't pump out 10 quality posts, at least 5 a day?

If they're that lazy, I say nix them all out of the tournament and put Schwarz Bruder, The Time Wizard, and The Dragon Lord in their places. Because god damn.

Option 2 does accomplish something, it does rectify something, and yes you're right, they didn't do anything. Precisely why they get put in "odd battle parameters," not for my amusement, but for the betterment of the tournament.

That's exactly what I'm saying.

As if those three had the power to do anything. Creating matches is solely in the judge's repertoire. Not the contestants. They stay out of it.

A good post takes between 15 to an hour to write.

More or less. If you're just sitting down to write a fight post, unless it has a bunch of fluff or some long-winded explanation of REAL, ULTIMATE POWER included in it it should take about 15-20 minutes to write something that is solid, clear, and enjoyable to read without dragging it out beyond what needs to be in there.

20 minutes per post, x2, is 40 minutes per exchange. If you're talking about 10 posts per person that's 400 minutes (or just under 7 hours) of "both people at their computers doing a back-and-forth".

Ideally it would mean that a fight would conclude in 2 or 3 days of a couple posts each night (assuming say, 2 hours of dedicated posting gets done, or they're a little slow at it but put in 3 or 4 hours).

That's a best-case scenario pretty much. We all know that a lot of people aren't around every day, or at the same times as everyone else, or can sit here for a number of hours waiting for responses, or are able to write a post in 20 minutes.

I'm not saying anything. Just breaking the numbers down for you all.

Paid judges? I would never ever accept gold or money for it.

There's also the fact that the judges are putting in disproportionately more work than the contestants into this, and it's hard, thankless work compared to competing or just hanging around in the threads.

The point being: it's not worth being a judge to get paid, because unless it's an eight digit number it's not going to measure up to the amount of effort you (should have) put in.

That, and, you never want someone judging for selfish reasons. A judge must be cold, objective, and merciless in handing out the truth. They also need to care about doing a quality job.

And now... drive.

That post time estimation is a bit assumptive.. it takes me pretty much 90 minutes, minimum, per fight post. Some people are slower than others.. and have obligations restricting their time.

    Just saying.

And it doesn't account for the other things people have to do in a day. Like full-time jobs. Or being the best.

My New Suggestion: Battle Royale

1. All the people who strongly favor option one are thrown in an arena with all the people who strongly favor option two.

2. They fight it out until one side or the other is obliterated.

Long as I'm allowed to kill, deal, deal a thousand times over.

Option Two Brethren, you've already won as a heads up.

Dibs on not judging the extra fights.

But, I am up for judging profiles.

Still think this is ridiculous, and my vote and thoughts have not changed. Option 1.

I'll also jump on the "where's the scores" bandwagon if they're not out today, although I have been previously fine with waiting. This is getting to be too much, though, especially given the deadlines keep changing. Might as well just say "they'll come when they come." People will b***h anyway.

I don't see the problem with more transparency on the part of the judges, such as giving simple status updates or notices of absence. To me that's preferable to giving excuses after the fact because, really, all the judges have been working nonstop on it in their free time? Really?

No one's asking people to give up their lives for it, but the fighter's part is over, and now it's the time the judges are needed most. If you're busy, you're busy. Say so. But if you got into judging to do it half-assed or by ridiculously craving this minuscule amount of power and status, own up to it.

It takes me about anywhere between 30-45 minutes a post, but if it's complicated and a very tricky situation, I could take up to two hours to post to make sometihng clever and creative (though it wouldn't take this long before since now I've learned to consult my opponent before doing anything rash)

And Lace, you hold a definant point, some of us are in school, some of us have jobs, and some of us have friends and familial obligations and desires to fulfull. So that has to be in account as well.
