gnu_dude At my local game club, if anyone did their marines up in an Ultramarines Paint Scheme, they'd get laughed back out the door. Funnily enough, no-one's been game enough to do it again. Why?

Well, we promote imagination. Painting your army as the Ultramarines not only seems to give away the fact you're not very imaginative, Unless you're 10, it makes it seem like you really don't have a life.

But, the Ultramarines have a rich backstory, great fluff, and a kick a** gold and dark blue scheme...how is that any different from any other Chapter?

The fact that they have the most characters, the most representation, and the most rules breaking power is what frustrates me about Ultrasmurfs.
Then again, I'm totally cool with folks using them. I prefer to come up with my own fluff and use "Counts-As" characters whenever possible.

Wow, what dicks? So what if someone wants to have an Ultramarine army? :
It's a preference thing isn't it? You can call it lack of imagination, or you can call it that you enjoy that chapters looks, paint scheme fluff ect.
No one should be ridiculed for having Ultramarines.
I'd be tempted to pain an Ultramarines army, unless I could find a good Emperors Children pallate to paint some Pre-Heresy EC.

That is because Ultramarines are the...advocates...of what a Space Marine should aspire to be. People call them "baseline"...I call them the standard by which all other Chapters are judged. THAT is how...perfect isn't the right word...idealistic...they are. They have numbers, 0 flaws in their geneseed, a holy book that their Primarch CREATED, and a leader with some of the most badass weapons in history... Hell, if it wasn't for the fact that I LIKE flawed characters like the Blood Angels, I would probably play them, as the whole "Space Romans" thing IS kinda sweet. Them, or Space Wolves...Space vikings is also a BAMF concept. mrgreen

I play Ultramarines, so you're saying I don't have imagination? No, you and your friends, like Kyle said, are complete dicks for having a go at people who collect them. I simply like the look of them, the back ground with them, and the awesome characters they have.

F*** yeah! You shouldn't judge a persons army, but judge how he plays and behaves. And paint on some occasions. <.< Nothings worse then seeing a model having been either dipped into the paint or having it colored with marker pen. Dx
On a side-note, gonna have a changes to test a old DA-suplement (2nd Ed with erratans) codex with the "new" marine codex this week. Nostalgic, makes me wonder now why gw took away the stubborn+intractable rules away? Those two we're the ones that made the DA's a DA in the first place; an army that just doesn't know when to fall back, even when being bloody and beaten.

My friend thought that because it says Feel no pain, Infiltrate and some other stuff, as special rules in the DA codex, that only specific units could have, he thought that everyone in the DA codex had it. xD

This is a piece of Horus Heresy Comedy my friend sent me and i loved it, hope yall do too!
THE HORUS HERESY: Emprah: Horus, go reconquer the galaxy so there can be a new golden age. Horus: But I should be Emprah, bawwwwww! Emprah: Magnus, stop it with the sorcery. Magnus: But I know what's best, bawwwwww! Emprah: Horus, tell Russ to bring Magnus to me because I said so. Horus: Emprah wants you to kill Magnus because he said so. Russ: Fine. Emprah's always right. Plus Ole Red has already been denounced as a traitor and I never liked him anyway. Russ: You're about to die, cyclops! Magnus: O noes! Tzeentch, I choose you! Bawwwww! Russ: Ah well. Now to go kill Horus. Russ: Rowboat, how have you not been doing anything? Guilliman: . . . I've been writing a book. Russ: Sigh. Let's go. Guilliman: And I fought the Word Bearers! Horus: Oh s**t-Spess Puppies a'comin? Abbadon: And the Ultramarines, sir. Horus: Who? Anyway, this looks bad. *enter Sanguinis* What are you doing here? Come to join me? Sanguinius: *throws self on Horus's power claws* Alas, I am undone! When you play Castlevania, remember me! *enter Emprah* Emprah: Horus! So my favorite son killed my favorite daughter! Horus: What about the Lion? Emprah: Never liked her. Horus: No one does. Now prepare to die! *mortally wounds Emprah* Emprah: Au contraire, you d**k. *kills Horus* Dorn: Okay, now I just plug this into this and . . . okay, it works! Emprah? Hellooooo? Jonson: I did nothing! Guilliman: I did more nothing that you! Jonson: Nuh-uh. I was the most worthless! Guilliman: Have you read my book? Dorn: No one likes that book. Khan:: C'mon guys. It's not that bad. Dorn: I guess not. Russ: You all suck. Ima go bring the Emprah back to life.

The whole Ultra's as either lack of creativity or not is a fine line. Since they are the poster army for the SM, it's hard to tell if people lack creativity by using them. But then again, you can say that at anyone colouring them with a GW scheme. And really, treating people like that will actually get you less repeat customers if they treat new people like that.
Personally, I like the DA just cuz *Spoilers from Angels of Darkness* how close to turning Chaos they could have been. Plus I really like the robes.

i personally support the Ultra's... they are in all aspects, the BEST chapter in the Imperium, and are by far quite tactical, as opposed to the way most think they are... In the game no marine player need strategy, just walk and shoot. But if you look into the fluff of the Ultra's they are very strategic.
