Michael listened to the little girl and said. "That sounds an awfully lot like Xearneus. Right guys?"

A Fletchinder flew overhead on wings of fire and Maddy leapt down from the sky, landing next to the group of Aquans in Laverre City. She recalled the fire bird to a Poke Ball in her left hand. She smiled at everyone, her green eye flashing in the sunlight. "Sorry I'm late." She said, brushing some dirt from her clothes that had been kicked up when she landed. "Any luck so far?"

Rei nodded casually to his captain's arrival. The young girl's jaw dropped to the floor at the spectacle.
"Hey there, boss. Just chatting with some locals." He turned to the girl.
"Can you tell me more about the deer?" The girl shook her head.
"No. You have a bat. Bats are gross."
Rei was ready to throttle the girl. That's such a horrible stereotype. "Well, what about the boss?" he asked, gesturing to Maddy. The girl's face lit up.
"I can tell the cool lady," she chirped, her eyes never leaving Maddy's face.

Caleb sat there listening to the girl ramble on and on about fairies and trees. Then he heard Michael mention Xerneas. Caleb's eyes grew huge. He started digging through his backpack before pulling out the book he had bought in Lumiose City and started riffling through the pages.
He acknowledged Maddy with a nod before laying the book out on the table for everyone to see. There was a painting. It depicted a forest full of fairy pokemon, trees, and all sorts of plants. Smack dab in the middle of the painting was a fairly large, blue deer.

Rei, now largely ignored by the child, turned his attention to Caleb's book. He thought over the implications.
"You don't suppose... This is the forest?" He questioned aloud to Caleb and Michael.

Michael looked at the book and did some mental calculations. "Well comparing the story of the little girl and the legend, I actually think that you are right Rei."

"It would make sense if you put two and two together...." Caleb pointed out. "The entire city is built around these trees...and the gym leader had to get the fairy theme for her gym somewhere. It would also explain why the scanner is acting as it is."

Maddy glanced over everybody at the book. "Hmmm... Xerneas supposedly turned into a giant tree when it went to sleep." She said, recalling the few conversations the Team had with Professor Sycamore. "Isn't the gym here a giant tree?"

Rei nodded.
"Yeah, it's huge. And creepy, depending on who you ask."

Michael nodded and said. "How 'bout we go check this weird tree out then? I mean if we can find Xearneus before Lysandre we can stop his whole plan hopefully, unless his plan also involves Yveltol."

Caleb got to his feet again. "It's the oldest living tree in the city if memory serves correctly..." he said, adjusting his glasses. "At least, that's what I've heard," he quickly added.

Rei rose from his seat, glad to have a goal.
"Let's go see what we can see." He turned to invite Maddy to join, but the little girl had her pinned down.
"-and it's so pretty because it glows and the colors are everywhere and-"
"Er, see you soon, boss." He only felt a little bad leaving her to the rambling child.
The group headed off towards the largest tree in the area: Laverre's Gym.
"Well, we know it's not in the Gym itself. Perhaps if we send our Pokémon to check out the tree, it'll find something we couldn't. Maddy's Alakazam should be able to interpret their thoughts and redirect them to ours, right?" He shrugged, hoping his plan wasn't absolutely insane.
Send one Pokémon out to investigate Laverre's giant tree. Each Pokémon involved earns an Evo Point.

Michael nodded about this and pulled out a pokeball. "Duckworth go. I need you to fly to the tree over there and tell me about it." His farfech'd looked at him and nodded before heading off in the direction of the gym. As it arrived at the tree it noticed a ton of fairy types hiding in its branches. As it flew around it noticed nothing else and returned to Michael.

Maddy eyed the little girl queerly."P-Please get away from me..." The girl just kept rambling on. What was she talking about? Maddy didn't know; she wasn't listening to a single word the child was saying. She casually reached to her belt and took a Poke Ball off of it. Pressing the button, the ball opened with a 'click!' and her Dragalge appeared. The girl stared at the Pokemon for a bit before realizing it was a Poison/Dragon, one of the few Dragon Pokemon that could withstand the Fairy type and destroy it. The girl ran off with a terrified squeal. "Thanks." Maddy mumbled to her Pokemon, recalling it. "I don't like this city."
Finally catching up to the others, she noticed they were all sending out Pokemon to check out the tree. Maddy sent out her Fletchinder, warning the bird not to catch the tree on fire, and watched as the bird fluttered up into the branches. She zipped through the canopy, looking for any clue that may be hidden among he leaves. She eventually started circling the entire tree. She returned to Maddy a few moments later. "Think it's a Legendary Pokemon?" Maddy asked her. Fletchinder shook her head. "Hm."

Caleb had his Sneasel climbing up to investigate. His Marshtomp looked disappointed. Caleb noticed this before sighing and letting out his Chinchou.
"You two go check the river near the tree...." he said. The Marshtomp cheered up and raced the Chinchou to the water. Caleb examined his Trapinch's poke ball, contemplating if she should help as well.
