Maddy was sitting on top of the Team Aqua submarine, stripping off some of the old paint in preparation for the new coat. She wanted the sub to look good as new. She had been at work for about two hours now and the submarine was looking pretty paint-less by now.

Michael was wandering around the base when he saw Maddy stripping the paint off of the submarine and decided to help. He looked at the tools available and picked up the electric sander, and began to sand the areas that Maddy had scrapped the paint off. After about three hours he was done sanding the sub. 2/10

Maddy gave Michael a high five and went to grab some buckets of paint. There was enough to paint the whole submarine a nice royal blue. Setting the paint down nearby and prying open one of the buckets, she got to work painting the front of the sub. There was quite the job ahead, so she hoped others would join in soon!

Ace came by and noticed the others recoating the old sub with a new sub of paint. They could have bought a new one to ease off the trouble, but she assumed it was probably too expensive. And so, she joined them-grabbing a nearby paintbrush and started off painting the left side.

"Countess, you're holding the manual upside-down. Flip it over, I can't read like that."
A young man holding a can of paint tried in vain to read a colorful booklet with a Smeargle on the cover, entitled "Even YOU can Paint!" The book had instructions on how to paint on various surfaces, with illustrations of Smeargle doing each step. It seemed easy. It was easy.
Rei had no idea what he was doing.

Since others were now helping with making the sub blue overall, Maddy grabbed herself some more colors of paint; red, black, white, and yellow. She started painting on the red lines that adorn Kyogre's body.

Michael smiled as the others join in on the renovation on the sub. He finished with the sanding and then grabbed a paintbrush and began helping Maddy paint the white lines of Kyogre's body.

Rei looked at the sub. It was still patchy, but the general idea of a Kyogre came across to the casual observer. Rei shook his head in admiration. Some people were just good at painting.
He turned to his section of the sub.
Some people should just never paint again.
He sighed. How is it even possible to mess up painting in one color? He offered the brush to his Zubat, conceding defeat.
"Countess, you give it a try. I'll hold the can for you." She squeaked her agreement and flew into action, making bold, even strokes with the brush held tightly by her delicate feet.
Rei grumbled. "We can't all be artists..." He heard his Zubat cackle with glee.

Michael heard Rei's grumbles and decided to help him. He walked over and said, Need some help dude?' He then picked up a brush and began painting the area blue over the blotchy spots. 9/10

Rei turned to Michael.
"Help would be appreciated, yes. As it turns out, I have the artistic ability of, well, a Trubbish." He shrugged, thanked Michael for the assistance, and tried his best to not ruin everyone else's work. In due time, paint was on every possible inch of the submarine's exterior. Michael and Rei worked in the wet sanding and polishing to make it shiny and lasting, and at last, the submarine's cosmetic work was done.

Rei cleaned his gauntlets in the water, pleased with the results.
"That wasn't too bad, I guess." His thoughts lingered towards their other objective: gathering information on the Legendary Pokémon. The deadline was coming up, and he had a feeling Team Aqua didn't have enough information.
"Hey, Michael, remember how we were told to look into the Legendary Pokémon? I had a thought. Laverre City's old. Legendary Pokémon are old. We received scanners to detect life signatures. Think it's worth a trip, at least?"

Michael looked at the sub and smiled. It looked perfect. He then turned to Rei and said. "Yes I do." He then let out a shrill whistle and Squirt surfaced from the water and clambered out.

Caleb showed up with a unopened can of paint and his Marshtomp. Both of them looked ready to work. That is, until they saw that the sub had already been finished.
Caleb wasn't pleased. His Marshtomp looked disappointed.
"I wonder if they'll let me return this still..." Caleb mumbled, looking down at the paint.

Rei laughed apologetically at the duo who marched up.
"Sorry guys. Maybe you can return it; the seal isn't broken. Michael and I are heading off to Laverre City with our scanners to look for Legendary-related stuff. Care to join?"

That was very true. Caleb did remember not to throw away the receipt this time as well.
"Might as well...the rest of my day is pretty much open now," Caleb shrugged.
The Marshtomp seemed to cheer up a bit. At least they had something else to do!

Rei nodded.
"Well, no time to lose, I suppose. Let's head off to Laverre, then. I hope you guys don't mind a bit of a walk, unless one of us has a Psychic Pokémon that can teleport us there." He glanced at a map.
"Let's see. We can take Route 17 to Dendemille Town, then Route 15 to Laverre, if you guys prefer walking."
