She was sure that almost nothing lived in this desert, so Kathryn was somewhat surprised when a sandshrew jumped from the ground, spraying sand everywhere. She stepped back a pace and released Kai, who would have an advantage in this fight.
"Water gun!" she ordered, and Kai leapt forward, spraying a small blast of water from his jaws. The sandshrew retaliated with rapid spin, knocking the totodile off his paws. He leapt back up and swung around with an aqua tail, dealing a more severe blow, but the sandshrew barely held on. It used slash, its claws sharpening to score a wound down the totodile's shoulder. The pokemon shrugged it off before finishing with bite, knocking the pokemon out.
Kathryn casually chucked a pokeball at it, and the ball wiggled three times before closing securely. She walked over and pocketed the small ball before recalling Kai and wandering back over to their means of transportation.

Arekku felt the ground rummble but thought it was his imagination so he just continued to stare at the purple item sticking from the ground. The ground shook again and a little blue Wooper hopped up from where the anntena was sticking up at. It quickly ran passed Arekku and Shin towards the water. Arekku watched the pokemon take off and heard a loud burst of sand from behind him then a yell from a much larger pokemon, "OOOOOOONNN!!" Arekku slowly turned around to see the Onix staring at him. "You've got to be a rarity around here! And you've gotta be mine! Let's go Shin!" Shin floated in front of Arekku with a using Psychic.
The Onix accepted the challenge and began things with Iron Tail, the massive tail swung and hit it's mark but didn't do very much damage. Shin just answered with a Cosmic Power raising it's stats to prevent more damage from being done. Onix just seemed to chuckle and tried a Slam, using it's tail again to try and strike, but it missed! Shin took the chance and attacked with Psybeam. The attack hit and dazed the large pokemon into confusion. Onix roared and smacked it's head against the ground hurting itself, Shin took advantage of the Onix's confusion and used another Psybeam, That just angered the large pokemon into another attack, to bad for it, the confusion made it hurt itself again. Onix fell over barely hanging on.
Arekku pulled his last pokeball, which was a Great Ball, and tossed it, striking the pokemon on it's head and pulling it inside to struggle to get out. ''Wriggle,, ''Wriggle,, ''Wriggle,, 'Ding!' The ball chimed and Arekku had caught the Onix. "Awesome Job Shin! do you feel like you need to rest?" He asked and Shin shook it's head no. Arekku picked up the ball and continued on, staying near the group.

Berg continued to walk through the sandy ground around the ship. Nothing to be seen around really. He went over to a small rock pertruding from the ground; it looked off because it was green and he wondered how a rock could grow moss out in the desert.
He kicked it and it rolled through the sand. Slightly startled, he looked around to see if anyone else had seen it, but to no avail. The rock came to a halt and unrolled to show a Larvitar.
It had a great scar over its left eye and several other damages to its body, but it looked intimidated and scared to see Berg.
Berg sent out Totodile to get a quick capture; he landed to hear a command to use Water Gun. And with the same response time, he cast out a jet of water into the timid Larvitar. Larvitar whipped up a Sandstorm in order try and make an escape. It pelted Totodile but he called forth another Water Gun to stop his attempt.
It was ill aimed but hit the Larvitar and injured it. Berg threw one of his last two Pokeballs and waited for it.
DING!
He captured it.

Maddy was sitting on one of the Arwing's wings, waiting for everyone to return from their little desert trek. She was still examing her map and satelite image. "Hmmmm..." She looked up as people were starting to return, and waited for them all to gather around. Maybe a little brain storming session was in order?

Arekku returned Shin and walked over to stand near the end of the wing Maddy was on. "What'cha thinkin'?"

Berg walked over to where Maddy was, seeing her slightly confused. He kneeled down and released his new companion and comforted him. Larvitar came around and began to like Berg, seeing as how he was timid and needed companionship.

Maddy gave a light sigh and decided to just throw the question out there. "What reasons do you think there are for a whole land region suddenly becoming bigger? And I mean dramatically bigger."

Kathryn frowned, hearing Maddy's question. Now that was an unexplained phenomena if she ever heard one. "Hmmm....Decrease in the sea level, revealing more land?" she suggested, drawing on what she knew of the Earth and its unexplained mysteries that she learned from her parents. "Major terraforming is unlikely." She paused. "Uhhh...volcano eruption," she joked, knowing that one was probably even more unlikely than the first.

"That's a very simple answer. One of two things; one, the water is receeding from some natural cause or two, Team Magma is up to something."
Berg was confident it the second of the two options.

"The continent is at least 10% bigger than it was last week by Porygon2's reports." Ginji reported as he walked up to everyone. "And it looks like the soil composition is from the bottom of the ocean." he also said. "But no abnormal activities have been spotted by the Orre National Guard, or by our intelligence gathering groups."

"So seafloor rising is most likely. But, as strange as the planet gets, something like that doesn't happen over just a couple months. It takes years." She said, going into a state of deep thought. "There must be something at work here..."

Arekku threw his two cents in, "Well remember thet rising water level from a little while ago? that water had to come from somewhere... say any surrounding waters?" He thought a little longer, "and from what I hear the waterlevel there is still very high..."

"This is very perplexing indeed," Berg said. Noticing how smart he sounded, he smiled.
Larvitar was now smiling under his petting hand.

Ginji sighed. "Does that mean we're done here? I'm not sure there's anything else we can do." he said as he opened up one of the doors on the Arwing.

"Yeah, not much happened but I guess it's time to go." She said, boarding the Arwing. She situated herself in the pilot seat before anyone else could.
