Awesome. The more the merrier.
As far as pure force goes, the clerics will obviously have the option to abandon their charges and return to the Temple ( or flee elsewhere ). If they insist on oaths and honor and all that jazz, the mercenary forces will battle them into submission, shackle them, and deliver them to KB for eating. If they're SUPER non-compliant, then they'll just be killed and strung up on the road as a warning to others.
Same goes for the unarmed civilians that travel the road to the Temple, since one of the main objectives is to stop the flow of worshipers.

Got it. The use of force is only authorized if there is any resistance involved. Should a few examples be made to strike fear into the rest of those who choose to fight anyway? Like, if they're encountered in a group and captured, should one or two be executed for the sake of order through fear?

And, since I highly doubt it will happen anyway...
...the coffin that KB had delivered to his room is actually just a big bomb rigged to explode when someone opens it. A precautionary measure, to test and see what lengths the Temple will go to to protect itself. If an assassin was sent after KB seeking to slay a vampire, it would be an obvious target.
Though, like I said, I doubt I'll have a chance to play that hand.

The clerics are zealots, they don't fear death. Their demise serves only to dissuade the non-clergy of their faith. Still, there should be at least a few corpses, you're right.
Though, if possible, I prefer for them to be executed by KB's eating habits. There's a lot of information to be had in each drop of blood, not to mention the amusing games we could play with them. Force them to fight one another for the fate of innocents, maybe... or starve them, offering them only their dismembered clerics for food.
I'm sure something will come to mind.

The Crossed Fox Got it. The use of force is only authorized if there is any resistance involved. Should a few examples be made to strike fear into the rest of those who choose to fight anyway? Like, if they're encountered in a group and captured, should one or two be executed for the sake of order through fear? If you want to cause fear in a group of people, you give them impossible tasks to do... then torture one or two, and release them back into the group when they fail. Let them hear it, but be unable to see what it is that you've done to that member of the group. Because that person won't talk about it, and the rest of the group will fill in the blanks with their imagination which will be deeds far worse than anything you've actually have done. Death is inevitable, it's the whole living part that is terrifying.

He likes to think he's a student of a Meilekki-style nature god ever since he abandoned the God of Death. But he really, really likes bacon. Meilekki better deal with it.
