Oh hey, do you have enough time for a wuick fight at the stadium? Mael is just kind of standing around there, because he was expecting some one else to fight them but they never came.

Non-deathmatch, I assume.

Trei_Shouri Maelthorn Yep, He's outside the stadium toward the left side if you want to approach him. my char's making his first approach. You'd prolly see him before he'd notice you xd Technicality, Trei, in your character. There is no such thing as a 'straight-bladed katana'. Because if it was straight bladed, then it wouldn't be a katana. I believe what you are looking for is a chokuto. =) But, eh, it's your character do what you want.

I believe what you are looking for is a chokuto. =) But, eh, it's your character do what you want. Technicality in the Japanese language: "katana" just means "sword." Plain ol' "SWORD," meaning any long blade, east or west. The Japanese-style sword that's always referred to as a katana is called a Nihontou. 3nodding So yes, folks, even a Claymore is a "straight-bladed katana." The choutou, daitou, and shoutou/wakizashi are basically just different lengths corresponding to the Japanese sword you see every time--but remember, a straight-bladed Japanese sword is s**t for drawing speed. 3nodding

@ Mael: Back sooner 'n I thought
@ other peoples: Feh on your technicalities. It's a straight-bladed version of the Tachi, that's all that matters. I am not a japanese historian, nor do I speak Japanese. Sooooo...I'm bound to make mistakes. xd
As to drawing speed; Trei's style relies too much on shifting and moving around to perform Battoujutsus, so it's just as well.

The choutou, daitou, and shoutou/wakizashi are basically just different lengths corresponding to the Japanese sword you see every time--but remember, a straight-bladed Japanese sword is s**t for drawing speed. 3nodding Yes, it is true that in Japanese katana is a 'catch-all' word for sword, but katana specifically means - and as it means to most people - the type of sword that is a curved, single-edged sword traditionally used by the Japanese samurai.
Now, I've never heard of a choutou, do you mean the chokuto? And the ninhontou? Never heard of it, but then again I'm not the dictionary on japanese weapon terms. =/ Now there is the ninjato which is the straight-bladed supposed weapon of the ninja - although it is unlikely they would use it as it basicly shouts: "IM A SPY KILL ME NOW". They would probably use the daisho.
=/
