Lin glanced at Miyuki and then to the other children. She liked encouraging Miyuki to do things on her own because it helped her learn (at least that's what it felt like to Lin), as long as she kept up with her own lessons that is.
"That might be wise, especially if the children would like to explore," Lin admitted.

"I'll stay with them!" Lalwen volunteered eagerly, thrusting one hand into the air to get the adults' attention.
Amora laughed and put one hand on her daughter's head. "I had a feeling you would," she grinned. She turned to the others and winked at them. "Lalwen doesn't like being followed around by servants. Thankfully, she always behaves quite well, so unless we're under a time of threat, she does not have to be."

Lin grinned at that, she couldn't blame Lalwen for not liking people to follow her around. Also, she was at least somewhat close to the children's age (though perhaps a bit closer to Amalirahc's seeing as Miyuki was getting on there chronologically and almost mentally speaking).
"I'm sure Miyuki would like that," she glanced over at her little girl.
Miyuki didn't have to think about it and nodded her head, giving her parents a foxy grin. She was more than happy to have Lalwen stay with them. Besides getting lost, she was sure they couldn't get into any trouble here.

Amora chuckled softly. "Indeed. We will allow Lalwen and Maeglin both some time free from their studies while you are here, then."
Maeglin smiled at that, but Lalwen blinked up at her mother. "But Mama, you always say lessons are so important!" she protested.
Amora smiled at Lalwen and put one hand on her head. "Yes, dear, that's right. But there are some things that are more important. Properly caring for our guests is far more important than going to lessons."

Miyuki was curious about these lessons, because she knew there was always a lesson to be had when visiting somewhere. Maybe she would ask Lalwen's mother about these... "important lessons".
"It'll be fun," Miyuki told Lalwen, "We can go and explore the city."
She was looking forward to that.

"It will be strange, too," Lalwen replied to Miyuki. "This is the first time Mama's ever said no lessons!"
"Except for holidays," Maeglin spoke up, slowing down slightly to walk beside her sister and Miyuki. "And Uncle Pengolodh's wedding."
"Those don't count, there are never lessons on holidays," Lalwen pointed out. "So that's not Mama saying no lessons."
Maeglin smiled at her. "It's happened, just not since you started lessons."

"I'm use to lessons starting and stopping, or having a completely different set of lessons because I want to learn it," Miyuki replied.
Lessons were an ever changing thing for her, and she was use to it. In some ways she was happy for the choice she was allowed to have with some of her lessons, but other times she wished for something a bit more consistent.
"Except staff, I need to do those lessons every day unless there's a really good reason to not to."
Like traveling and even then they could always take a half an hour there or here when they stop.

"Staff?" Lalwen repeated.
"We're taking lessons from Alassëa," River explained. She turned and pointed out the woman. "That's her there." She turned and faced forward again. "She's blind but she uses a staff better than anyone my grandparents have ever seen, and they've seen a lot."
She wrinkled her nose. "We're supposed to be learning how to see with our eyes closed, how to sense things ... but it's still hard."
Still, she knew she had it easier than some people. Her sensitive elven senses were very helpful after all.

"It is...."
Miyuki wasn't going to deny that because she would probably never feel fully comfortable with a staff. At this point in her life it wasn't even that she wasn't trying hard enough, it was simply that Miyuki and weapons didn't seem to go hand in hand so far.
"But it's kind of neat."
That was because Miyuki felt like she noticed more when her eyes were closed and it helped that her mother decided it was time to teach Miyuki the basics in meditation.
Though Lin was obviously not very much of a magic user in a Gaian sense. There were many times Lin forgot she had magic at all.

"Here we are," Amora spoke up then as they entered a wide corridor. "The guest wing." She led the group to the first room. "Shiro and Kaito, for you."
The two nekos headed into the room, and Amora moved on. She put Daeron in the next room by himself, and then the next two rooms were for Earendil and Lin and their family: one room for Lin and Earendil, and the next room for Miyuki and Andarien.
"I hope it's all right that they don't have an adjoining door," Amora said apologetically.
Earendil looked down at Andarien. He hadn't been in a different room from him and Lin since he had grown from being an infant, and he wasn't sure how that would go.
Andarien stared back up at Earendil. He hadn't understood most of what Amora had said (or most of what had been said since meeting her, for that matter) and so he didn't know what was going on. "What?" he asked curiously.

Deciding it was better to get to the point than having to slowly teach him, because Lin felt the same way too, she told her son out right.
"Andarien, would you be alright if you slept in a room with just your sister, and your father and I will be in the other room?" Lin inquired.
Though she knew Andarien would have to get use to it eventually. Miyuki was actually easier because practicality (as in the tails) caused Miyuki to prefer her own sleeping space.

Andarien didn't even have to think about that.
He grinned. "I like sleeping with Mi! Her tails are warm!"
He didn't like being cold, and despite the fact that they were in the desert, the nights did indeed get quite cold.
Earendil chuckled. "There we go then," he grinned at Amora.
Amora laughed. "In here, then, for you and Lin, and Miyuki and Andarien will be right next to you."
Earendil headed into the room with Andarien and waited for Lin and Miyuki to follow. They could drop their bags before getting the kids settled in their own room.

Lin put a hand against Miyuki's back and led her to the room that she and Earendil would be staying in.
"Come on, let's get settled first before doing anything alright?" she murmured.
Miyuki followed along, though she knew it was going to be her parents settling since they (her and her brother) would be getting their own room.

Earendil set Andarien on the floor and looked around. There was a large bed in the room as well as a writing desk and chair, a couch, and two sitting chairs. A wardrobe was on the other side of the room, and in the large window sill, which was big enough for a love seat, there were cushions and pillows to make it comfortable.
As Earendil set the bags on the bed for sorting, Andarien wandered over to the window seat and lay down.
"Andarien, come get your bag," Earendil called to the boy, holding up the small bag that was his. "You need to bring it to your room."
Andarien blinked at him, still laying down. "What?"

"Bag," Lin repeated, "Your bag Andarien."
She switched between the two languages without thinking too much on it as she was taking out some of her things.
"You need to get it."
