"Hm?" The lizard looked up at him, flicking her tongue. "Oh, yeah. Thanks." She gave him a forced, lop-sided smile that looked rather foreign on her reptilian features.
Now that she had spilled everything off her chest yet was still rather depressed, it seemed she wasn't exactly the best when it came to conversation.

Gaius fidgeted in his seat, the awkwardness growing with each second. Should he talk? What should he say? Should he just stay quiet? A barrage of questions bounced around his mind. It seemed there was only one safe course of action, when it comes to dealing with females - Gaius decided to run away.
Picking up one last sugar cube for the road, Gaius got to his feet, giving Amaya a friendly, if apologetic, smile. "I should probably get back to work on my carving... otherwise I won't have time before the mosquitoes come out later!" He waved as he turned towards the doors and called back, "If you ever want to stop by, I'm over in duplex 62, or just look for the piles of scrapwood on the lawn!"

Amaya watched him go, looking up from her lap. "Okay. I'm in number 22. Bye Gaius." She waved her own large hand back.

22. Amaya. He'd have to remember that, and try to keep it straight among all the other names and numbers he was learning. Gaius gave her one last wave and grin, then vanished out the door. He'd have to remember she liked strawberries.

While it wasn't exactly the crack of dawn, it was still early enough for Anatoli to sneak in while he thought the cafeteria was still empty. He figured that he should get some breakfast, and grab something quickly before he chanced a run-in with another islander.
Although his wounds were slowly healing, he still had a slight limp. That wouldn't do him much good in running from predators! As he hobbled down the buffet line, he occasionally peeked over his shoulder in between picking what he wanted to eat -- and finally, grabbing a knife before going to a table and sitting down.

It was an odd day for Marshall, seeing as how he was up before 10 for the first time...ever. The large-footed and large-nosed young man had spent some of the morning sitting in his room, finally cracking open that book about Judaism he bought so long ago. "Huh...So I should've had a Bar Mitzvah at 13...Here I thought it was 16..." he muttered to himself, before looking at the clock. He wasn't particuarly hungry, but he could snack at least...And it WOULD be nice to eat a Pancake that hadn't been sitting for three hours.
Marshall tucked the book under his arm as he took the quick walk towards the cafeteria, enjoying the crisp morning air. It was a little chilly, but hey, Halloween was coming up. So it was supposed to be cold!
As he opended up the front doors, he was some what pleased to see some one else already in there.
"...Heya." Marshall said bluntly as he walked up to the curly-haired man.

Before he even managed to dig into his bowl of cereal, Anatoli heard someone approaching. The hairs on the back of his neck stood up and he froze, gently putting the spoon into the bowl and warily feeling over the handle of the knife. His fingertips twitched, and the man forced a smile.
"Good morning," he said, equally as blunt. "Just because I'm in tha cafeteria doesn't mean I'm edible. I just wanted ta get that across tha board before ya got any ideas..." He glanced down at the knife beneath his hand, although he hadn't gripped the blade yet.

Marshall raised an eye brow. Was this guy serious? "Ummm...Okay...I was actually more in the mood for Pancakes...But thanks for that bit of information." Marshall said, rubbing the back of his neck with his free hand. He noticed the bandages on the Man's stomach...Was he attacked by some one?
That'd explain the hostility...
"Um...You mind if I join you?" Marshall asked the unfamilar man.

"Sorry." Anatoli waved his hand dismissively, although his expression still implied wariness and distrust at the changed youth. He lifted his hand about an inch, hovering it over the knife for a few moments before he picked it up and went on to tuck it in the waistband of his pants. If he needed it, he'll pull it out later.
"Go ahead. Just... ya know. Don't try anything crazy with me."

"I promise, I won't." Marshall said, putting the book down as he walked over the Breakfest pastries. As he put a pancake on the ceramic plate, all Marshall could think about was about the stranger's scars.
Who would attack another islander? Probably some one pretty far along in their transformation...Hm...Yeah, Zach, maybe? Yeah, that'd be the straw that broke Gaius' back...
Marshall continued to ponder as he absent-mindedly put some sushi on his plate. It took him a minute to register what he had done. "...Weird." he murmered. One? Raw fish was NEVER Marshall's choice of food. Two? Raw fish was NEVER Marshall's idea of a good breakfest. Still, it probably had SOME thing to do with his transformation.
Whatever...Hm...Now who else could attack some one? he thought, not taking the sushi roll off of his plate.

Anatoli absently propped his chin up on a hand and swirled his spoon in the cereal. It had already gone a bit soggy, much to his dismay, but he shoved the spoon in his mouth anyway. He glanced over his shoulder to watch the black-footed boy, juuuust in case.
Poor man, he hasn't been here for very long and already he's a little paranoid.

Marshall sat back down, his Sushi moved to another plate. Because no matter how much Marshall changed? He knew syrup-covered raw fish would just be nasty.
"So...Um...I'm Marshall." the young man said, trying to start up some sort of conversation to prove he wasn't a threat. "So, um...How long ya been here?" he asked.
Long enough to get hurt...

"Anatoli," the man said rather tersely, eyeing Marshall's plates to see if he had any bloody steaks or anything of the like. Okay, so maybe the guy was telling the truth and was trustworthy, and human wouldn't be on the menu today.
"Since befoah tha end a' Septemba... so a coupla weeks, I think," he answered, then asked, "You?"

"Lets see...Um...August or some thing. Yeah...I took a late vacation that just happened to run a bit long." Marshall said, smirking at his own bad joke as he cut his pancakes with his fork. Marshall couldn't help but glance at the man's bandages. They HAD to be from Zach. I mean, its not like there were any other dangerous psychos on the island, right?

"I'm heeah on a family visit. Or I was supposed ta," Anatoli shrugged, "Haven't seen ma cousin since I came heeah. Not that I care ta, knowin' he has tha same sick sense a' hyumah my great-great granddad had."
He wondered what the guy across from him was turning into -- and of course, pondering his own fate on the island.
