Tomorrow

"Hope your seeing-eye dog eats your cane, you blind bimbo b***h..." John growled under his breath, before looking to Dr. Sarona.
"...Look...I'm stressed out, i haven't eaten anything in three days and I got pretty drunk last night. I'm going to need a minute to process this..." He let out an irritated sigh, rubbing his eyes with his hand. "I...How bad could it get?"

Verani kept on going this time, closing the door softly behind her as she left the room.
"That would be me... unfortunately." Grace muttered a bit dejectedly. "I will have some lunch sent in to you, any allergies we need to worry over?" She pulled the films down and tucked them back into her folder

"Hey." John said, looking her in the eye. "What do I have to worry about? Whats the potentials for this to all go pear-shaped? Do you think that lump of s**t in my head is what caused me to 'flame out', or could there be another explenation?"

" I'm sure it will."

And at that, he wasn't so sure, but it was the right thing to say at the time. Damion had never looked away from her as he sat down and when she looked up at him his anti-freeze green eyes met hers. Normally he would have avoided that, found some excuse to look away, prevent the challenge of eye contact, but this time he let them meet.

" You have pretty eyes."

The observation didn't slip out as most people would assume, he'd intentionally said it as the thought had come and he bore no embarrasment from it. As easily as the comment had come he turned away to look into the water at the fish that swam just below their feet in tiny schools. It was easy to picture him like that for all eternity, content to simply sit and watch the fish in silent contemplation. But his mind was busy, processing new feelings and emotions that burbled up in his brain and clouded his perceptions. Talking with people had suddenly become that much more confusing for the elemental.

Blinking once noticeably, a blush spread across her face like a wildfire, causing her to stammer a bit with her words.

"I-I--Thank you.." Touching her hand delicately to her warm cheeks, she looked down to where he was, the fish eluded her thoughts. "No one's every said that to me before.." A proper smile grew. "Everyone doesn't seem to notice me whenever Mr. Kazamaru is around..."

Her heart twisted a bit, she could feel the strings wanting to snap, but the compliment kept her smiling.

" I am not everyone." He retorted, snorting softly and smirking as he lifted his head to gaze out on the horizon.

" I am Damion H. Hedley, Guardian of the Temple of Dagon, Beast of Battle, and guerrila expert."

His pride was evident in his voice, each name or title coming stronger than the last. Damion had collected each title by himself and hoarded them in the way a miser hoarded his money and to give them voice was to show his accomplishments to the world. They were nothing without an audience after all. His head turned towards her again and his smirk turned into a smile that revealed teeth and fangs. No matter how amused he may be that smile always made him seem hungry.

It faded fast though into a more closed lip affair and he turned to watch a boat sail into the harbor, sails at full still as men scrambled across their white surfaces like ants. He wanted to ignore her blush and yet found the image imprinted on his brain. Better to change the subject he felt, such feelings were odd and alien.

" So, Tilly, What do you like to do when not tracking the illusive scaly paladin?"

Tilly let slip a giggle at the sheer pride in his voice. Confidence was terribly becoming, and even more so attractive. Especially on him, it made her blush stay.

"Me? Oh.. I'm afraid I'm fairly boring." She smiled shyly and shook her head. "I-I like writing a lot, because it's what I do best. I-I tend to keep to myself, watch things." Looking down, she nervously fiddled with her fingers, letting the, trace along her ornate bracers. "I can bake a mean cake too- hehe~"

The normal Tilly was finally showing through with colors, her mind sufficiently off of darker things.

" Boring is also a matter of perspective, as such I do not find you boring."

As she spoke he let his eyes drift back to her, the ship quickly becoming boring despite the promise of interesting new things it might bring. When he was here, Damion enjoyed meeting the new ships, investigating their goods, fleecing the sailors as they became drunk and stupid. To his consternation he found he wanted to stay here and talk instead.

" What kind of things do you watch? People? I enjoy people watching."

He smiled still to show her his interest and even went so far as to shift just alittle closer, leaning back on his arms and letting the open shirt fall to either side of his torso in folds. The serpents there on his stomach and hips writhed as if alive even after he was done moving, the empty holes of their eyes somehow seeming to see her without the means to do so.

" I usually people watch in the stadium if I'm not fighting."

Her nails picked meekly at her bracers as his shirt fell open. His tattoos were intriguing, he was intriguing. And what was more, he was actually wanting to talk to her. Looking back up she smiled happily.

"Oh-- I love to people watch!" She straightened up, her legs kicking a little as her palms found the ground. "Seeing how they conduct themselves, their auras, personalities, body language. Everything. Humans are so strange, don't you agree..?"

That twinkle in her eyes had come back.

"Hey." John said, looking her in the eye. "What do I have to worry about? Whats the potentials for this to all go pear-shaped? Do you think that lump of s**t in my head is what caused me to 'flame out', or could there be another explenation?"
"There could always be another explanation, my counterpart is the one who makes the tough diagnosis... but I really think it is plausible." She took the water jug away from him and quickly filled it up again to return it o him.

"When we were in the bar, I tried to heal you! I am a very good healer, capable of things your friend Hono'o can not manage due to a simple lack of power.... Now, when I tried to heal you, your power tried to kill me... In most beings clean healing power does not trigger any internal defense powers or spells... it is why sleep spells are still so effective even against enemy mages! At any rate, if 'Andi had not been there your power would have killed me, and likely everyone else in that building.. and you were working up to that before we stepped in to help!" She looked over her notes again in the file, frowning at how small they really were.

" Yes! and when they meet and communicate! I don't know about aura's but I like watching them move around one another."

His voice came out more excited than he had anticipated and now it was his turn to blush, already dark cheeks becoming just abit darker as he moved on.

" Even when they're alone they produce such interesting things. When they think they're being followed they start looking over their shoulders, speeding up, trying to throw some unknown predator off their trail. Or when they're talking with a friend how they relax, bodies going loose and unprepared. Sometimes I can't beleive I used to do the same thing."

Laughter bubbled out, deep and rolling, and was brought back into control slowly to manifest as a smile.

" But I suppose for you the feelings aren't the same?"
PostPosted: Sat Jan 08, 2011 5:04 pm

Shyly smiling, Tilly giggled a little more at his reactions. His blush and laugh. This feeling was familiar.

"Well, it's a little complicated, Damion. I'm allowed to feel everything, anything. But somethings are.. amplified? I don't know if that's the right word but.." She laughed out a bit. "Because I have to write everything down, sometimes it's like I can feel what the person is, like an extreme form of empathy. It's so I can get down every detail, as if the people themselves are writing their experience down.." She looked down, a sweet smile, warm painting her features. "One day I wish I could feel some things for myself. Like the way the butterflies tickle someone's stomach when their loved one brushes their cheek, the simple feeling of satisfaction and comfort of being held close."

Her mind had strayed a bit, pulling from the memories of a certain someone. She did wish for those feelings, but her time might have been too short. Her smile stayed though, unwavering as she looked back up to Damion. Her voice had grown soft and kind.

"You know~ Some of the finer things in life.."

Is that all it took? The brush of a hand? Being held close? Sometimes he wondered if his sacrificed humanity had been worth the trade of his power and the strength of his body. His eyebrows drew down in consternation as he puzzled out the significance of such actions, the biological responses they brought. He did not crave these things as she did and that made it hard to relate to those wants and desires. The most complex want he had had in a very long time was simply the want to hurt another, to feel their blood pulsing down his hands or over his mouth, to taste their pain in their blood and for the world to light up around him in savage exultation.

He never felt more alive than in a fight.

But if these things were what she needed, wanted, then perhaps he could provide them? Damion reached up suddenly as he made up his mind, reaching out from his leaned back position until his fingers found Tilly's cheek or not depending on if she moved. The rough skin of his fingers would meet the smoother skin of her face in a touch that was oddly gentle for the normally violent and destructive elemental. He would sit up more to cup her cheek, marveling quietly at the warmth there, the soft flesh, everything he had denied himself for years. His heart beat more rapidly and yet no adrenaline pulsed through his veins and while he knew that there was something off about this he also knew he did not care.

" Hm...finer things in life? What are those to you?"
PostPosted: Sat Jan 08, 2011 5:44 pm

His actions didn't quite register until his fingers brushed against Tilly's cheek, making her stiffen up in surprise. The only fright she carried was not knowing what to do or say as her small, mousy heart started to skip beats, or at least it had felt that way. Her pale cheeks burned as the blood rushed to them, painting them a deep rouge. And when he cupped her face, she let out a soft gasp as her lips parted.
Her heart pulsed in her throat, making it impossible to speak, no matter how much she had wanted to. Her eyes hadn't left his until they slowly began to swoon and close, her body turning towards him as her hands found his, her fingers weakly grasping in the spaces between.
If Tilly had ever seemed small and fragile to him before, now she would feel simply brittle. He had taken it upon himself to show her such kindness, something that perhaps she hadn't been emotionally ready for because of the events of the day. Swallowing the knot in her throat, her eyes opened, looking back up at his with little tears pooling at their corners.

"I.. Just... Want to be cared for.." She whispered, her voice on the verge of being raspy. "Loved.."

So that was what fear was like. What had started out as a vague notion had become a grim certainty that he was going to bloody break her. His arm tensed up when she grabbed his hand but he never pulled away, too scared of hurting her to dare chance it. Which, in and of itself, was amazing as he had never cared wether he had hurt someone before, regardless of FtF status. His fear was only confirmed when she began crying or close to it and Damion was left frantically trying to come up with a way to stop it from happening. Like a computer his mind brought up rows and rows of images, data and the like gathered from months of study of people and their ways, forgotten when he took on the mantle of guardian.

One image seemed best though and actually seemed safer than anything he could come up with yet and for it he sat up completely, coming very close to her for a long moment until his free arm wrapped around her. His trapped hand moved and joined its twin around her smaller body and with them he brought he close, holding her against him in a hug that bordered on the way people carried delicate objects. Where most muscular folks were soft, somewhat squishy when relaxed Damion seemed all smoothed angles and hard surfaces, heat rolling in waves off his body like a well sunned rock and the faint smell of vegetative matter. Gently he held her to his chest, hoping this would stop the tears.

He didn't know how to handle those after all.

" I don't know how to do that, but I can try?"

It was a half question that he wasn't even sure he wanted to ask. Was this the right thing to do? Was this what she needed or wanted? No scientist he, Damion could only test and see how she responded.

Tilly made little nervous noises as he pulled her close, her hands reaching for him in a panic, scared to lose contact with him, as if it was a fleeting moment escaping her grasp. As her hands touched to his chest, she hesitated, bringing them away for a split second before laying her trembling fingers on his skin. He was so warm, he felt so strong even as he tried to hold her tenderly. Her swimming eyes closed as she nuzzled her cheek to him, her fingers splaying out curiously. Tilly took in a deep breath, filling her lungs with Damion's scent, filing it away so she could remember him by.
Her tiny body seemed to melt in his arms, allowing herself to meld to his contours with those of her petite curves. He had succeeded in calming the muse, lulling her into a sense of protection.

"But.. Why..." She crooned, her fingers gathering his shirt's material. "Why do you even want to--I don't understand.."

" Don't ask me why, I'll never have the right answer."

And He wouldn't. He didn't understand the why of it, didn't even really understand the question, and it rankled in his mind. All the Hydra did know was that he wanted to protect her and make her feel better in a way that didn't precisely match up with the way he felt for his friends. He knew without testing the theory that he would go as far as was needed to make her smile or to keep her from crying, and the tanned humanoid lowered his face into her hair slowly.

" Just...please, accept what I'm doing? I'm not sure why but this is better than nice."

And it was, and he felt that he could do this all day if demanded of him. His hands gently gripped at her sides as he held her gently and felt the gentler curves she possessed as opposed to the harder ones of his own body. She fascinated him and that was enough for now. His heart pulsed beneath her hand strongly, beating no faster but harder for the touch of her hand, the skin of his chest just as rough as the rest of him. Damion took a deep breath and took in her scent the same way she took his in, another file for his brain to put away and filling in his mental picture of this woman, this muse.

" Is it nice?"

The sudden doubt didn't suprise him but the overpowering nature of the question froze him in place and sent a shock through his system, almost making him jump. The source was easy to locate and that was pacifying in a way but he needed to know the answer.
