*As the Crew began to man the bars, the capstan began to turn, slowly at first, but then steadily, it began to revolve, bringing the lanyard's leading line about the crank and then soon after, the mooring line itself. Finally, it had begun, but there was still a quarter-mile of line to heave in. If they didn't hurry, the ship would loose the tide and the ship would be left high and dry upon the shore, too far out in the bay to do much good. Her bottom would be ripped apart for sure if they stayed where they were.

Doubling His & hopefully the Crew's efforts, he continued the shanty...*

We'll lower him down on a golden chain,
Walk him along, John, carry him along...
We'll make bloody sure he don't rise up again,
Carry him to his buryin' ground...

Tim'me way-hay, ye' Stormy,
Walk him along, John, carry him along...
Tim'me way-hay, ye' Stormy
Carry him to his buryin' ground...

Oh General Taylor, he died long ago,
Walk him along, John, carry him along...
He's gone me boys, where the winds don't blow
Carry him to his buryin' ground...

He died on the field of Monterey
Walk him along, John, carry him along...
An' Santiana he won the day
Carry him to his buryin' ground...

Tim'me way-hay, ye' Stormy,
Walk him along, John, carry him along...
Tim'me way-hay, ye' Stormy
Carry him to his buryin' ground...

*Smirking at Mr. Ilor's comment.*

"I'm sorry Mr. Ilor, but if any supernatural forces are used here, this ship's company will never be able to comprihend their fullest potential as Able Seamen. Believe me, mankind did this way before your vampyric race ever showed their face upon this Earth, Mr. Ilor.... I'm sure we, as mankind, can still keep with tradition and do this the old fashioned way."

*Putting his full weight into it..*

"Now, heave to and dig into it. I know you've more physical strength in you without having to resort to vampyric talents. Why else would you have all that muscle?"

*Nodding Ilor back to his work, Captain Kurisutofa keeps to it*

We'll Haul, Me Boys, an' wake the dead,
Walk him along, John, carry him along...
Let's stow him in his little bed,
Carry him to his buryin' ground

Tim'me, way-hay, ye' Stormy,
Walk him along, John, carry him along...
Tim'me, way-hay-ay-ay, ye' Stormy,
Carry him to his buryin' ground

I wish I was Old Stormy's Son,
Walk him along, John, carry him along...
I'd build me a vessel of ten thousand ton,
Carry him to his buryin' ground

I'd load her up with ale and rum,
Walk her along, John, carry him along...
And every deckhand would have some
Carry him to his buryin' ground

*As the hemp rope dipped in and out of the deep murky depths, the line drew tight, and continued to run through the cathead and wind about the capstan. The Lady was going ashore...*

Tim'me way-hay, ye' Stormy,
Walk him along, John, carry him along...
Tim'me, way-hay-ay-ay, ye' Stormy,
Carry him to his buryin' ground...

A tot of rum for every man
Walk him along, John, carry him along...
And a bloody great barrel for your shantyman
Carry him to his buryin' ground...

I Thought I heard the Old' Man Say...
Walk him along John carry him along...
One more pull, lads, and then belay!

*As the word 'belay' sounded from out of the Captain's throat, the Lady gave a mighty shiver and a shake. Anchors banged against the side, the blocks and tackle sang with fright and the sound of the rocks on the briney bottom wailed loudly as the ship's copper bottomed hull drug across the newfound footing. The Lady had beached. As the rain blew across the faces of the tired and exhausted crew, the ship seemed to give a mighty sigh of relief as she rolled over on her side. The deck pitched to the Starboard and anything and everything loose rolled from where it stood to the starboard rail and was lost over the side.*

"GRAB ONTO WHATEVER IS NAILED DOWN, ME' LADS!"

*Grabbing hold of the shrouds, the Captain climbed over the side and stood vertically on the side of the LAdy, which now found herself high and dry. The great royal blue paint was chipped in places and screamed to be rid of the ship, and the sooner the better. Kurisutofa missed her original colors.

Untying a halyard line from the mainshrouds, he lowered himself to the beach far below the ship's spine, the keel. As he lowered himself, he found it hard to breathe. The barnicles and growth on the bottom of the ship wreaked and smelt of the worst abnormality that the lord ever set upon this green earth. It needed to go, and soon for all the crews sake.

Kurisutofa took a look at the ground beneath him and dropped the last five feet to the rocky coast. Scouting for the superb support beams, the Captain walked fuirther up the beach. Here the rocks turned to sand. Wet snad, but sand none-the-less.*

"All Ashore That's Going Ashore!

I'm off to search for the right timber that shall be used as the ship
s new mainmast. Mr. Ilor, you've run of the Ship, until I've returned.
I want the ship in tip-top condition and ready for admiralty inspection by the time I return. The Crew is to build a makeshift stand for the ship to sit within so as not to cause any further turnover. Make sure it's strong, Mr. Ilor. I want this ship in one piece when I return."

*Smiling at the Ship's Company, Captain J. Kurisutofa walked to the tree-line, and disappeared into the brush, not to be heard from for the next few days. Why he hadn't taken anyone with him, no one could tell...*

((I've business on the hard, so Mr. Ilor is in charge. Be good and treat him as you would me. With the utmost respect... (isn't that right Sparrow?) I'll be back within the next week. Play nice.))

(pretty sneaky Cap'n! xp )
-Upon hearing the cap'n request, he recovered his tools from the ship. He immediately began to stack up a few crates and box to use as a sidestand for the Lady. He called for some assistance from the crew. As they helped out he searched his tool box for the proper scraping tools to rid the Lady of its barnacle infestation.-

*as she was clenching onto the railing as the ship tipped, her nails dug into the wood. When the ship had grounded, she let go and slid across the deck to the beach, where she went ashore to search for some things she hadn't gotten after the battle because of her injuries.*

[[ Gasp! I'm almost offended that you'd think I'd be any trouble... -sinister grin- But, alas... I'll behave. ]]

-She let out a small wail as she slid along the deck, grabbing at a heap of barrels that were tied down. With a sigh, she strained to hear what the Captain said as he vanished into the bush. She eventually let go of the strings that held the barrels in place and slowly slid to the railing, then dropped down onto the moist sand. At the sight of the barnicals, she gagged, then called up onto the deck.- "Oie! If there's anyone still up there, could one of you toss me down soemthign to scrape these...things with?"

Lutra tumbled down the deck, bracing herself against the railing. she heard Sparrows call and looked around for something to scrape with. finding Quasan, she retrieved scrapers and climbed down to the sand.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 27, 2006 7:11 pm

-She stood and watched as Lutra climbed down and stood beside her. She smilled at the girl, then held out her hand, slightly.- "Might I be able to take one of those off your hands?" -She let out a little laugh, then looked at the side of the ship again, her smile turning into a frown.-

'certainly.' Lutra handed the tool to Sparrow and turned to work beside her. as soon as the smell of the barnacles reached her, Lutra gagged and stepped back, a sleeve over her face.

Destiny picked up some tools from Quasan, and dropped down onto the sand a bit down from Sparrow and Lutra. As soon as the smell hit her nose, Destiny worked her bandana loose from its place in her pocket, and she fashioned it into a mask around her nose and mouth.
Then, she walked over next to Lutra and began to scrape.
I think singing would make the job go faster wouldn't you think" she asked her fellow scrapers.. Anybody know anything good worth singing?

*Taking his orders from the captain he turns to the crew which is already hard at work*
"Well you all seem to know what to do already. Anyone that isn't scraping should be helping build the stand. Like the captain said we don't want the Lady to tip now. if you'd like a job other than those then feel free to ask and I'll figure somethin out for ya!"
*Goes and helps Mr. Quasan with the stand*

The stand sounds infinitely better than the barnacles...
*she makes a sneer towards the ladies scraping the side of the ship, and walks over to help with the stand*

Destiny looked up at Ares' sneering face.. She sighed inwardly.. no matter what she did, she could never get on that woman's good side.. did she even have a good side? There was nothing Destiny could do about it.. then she had a thought twisted ..she paused in her scraping for just a moment, frowned, then smiled as she resumed scraping..It would seen that there were some befits to elven magic......

From out of the dreary forest, a raven flew out, braving the storm winds. Over the company he flew, circling, as if looking for something.. spying Ares, he swooped down at her, and at the bottom of his swoop, left a dropping on her coat..and swiftly made its way back into the safety of the trees..

"I think a few more boxes should do it. Now all we need left to do is scrape the junk off the ship. Sadly, I have no inventions to assist us on that task."

-She wasn't breathing through her nose, but through her mouth as she worked at the ship. The task was alot harder than it looked. When she heard Destiny's suggestion, she stopped, taking it in to thought.- "Well, unless you have another hankercheif to lend me, then I can't sing along. I'm ussung my mouth for breathing at the moment, and I can't sing through my nose." -She let out a small laugh, then went back to her task.-

-She caught Ares sneer through the corner of her good eye, and gritted her teeth. She felt liek she was being mocked, and she'd not tolerate it. But, for the moment she'd let it slide, she didn't exactly have any friends aboard the lady as it seemed, and she wasn't looking for any new enemies, though once the bird dropping landed on Ares, she let out a howl of a laugh.-
