My cousin is getting married. My mom offered to hold her a bridal shower. When we saw the guest list my cousin put together, my jaw dropped. THIRTY-EIGHT PEOPLE. How does anyone think that's an appropriate bridal shower? There is no way to fit that many people in our HOUSE, not to mention the cars in our driveway/street/neighborhood. Even if all of the aunts bring chairs, there won't be enough chairs or room to seat everyone, and the cost of feeding that many people, we're looking at the hundreds of dollars. My mom is apalled and angry about the whole thing. Who invites all of their friends to a family bridal shower?
I sent my cousin a very nicely worded WTF on Facebook because my mom is afraid to tell her that it's INCREDIBLY thick-headed of her to expect that out of us herself. I hope she responds favorably, and if not, well, I'm the bad guy here, not my mom.

Bridal showers vary in numbers a lot. 38 doesn't actually sound like a lot to me, although when I've known of people hosting that many guests, they're usually renting a location or holding it at a park/garden. Very rarely is in in the home unless they have a lot of outdoor space. My family who've had celebrations of that size and type tend to have a lot of family too (though we don't tend to have "showers").
Sounds like a crossed wires about exactly what kind of bridal shower this is supposed to be.

My mother volunteered thinking it would be like my last cousin's bridal shower - just family.

Maybe there's a best friend of the bride to be that can help out? And also, hold it earlier in the day so you can get away with serving brunch-lite, like, coffee, tea, mimosas, finger-foods, and a green and fruit salad. And assign people to bring stuff.

Gay Days is here in Orlando, and everyone's having a faaabulous time. However, not to be forgotten in this time of MONEY MONEY MONEY celebration, one of the LCSes is co-sponsoring a comic/collectible convention. The name of the convention? Mari-Con.

I am so excited! First, I went to the GI doctor today. He told me that after the Protonix prescription is up, I don't have to take them anymore. He also said that he thinks my improvement is 80% the Lexapro and only 20% the protonix.
Also, my mom told me about this house for rent. It's in a good neighborhood and it's the same amount of rent we're paying now in this duplex. She knows the owner really well. I called him today and he's going to call mom when it's ready to be viewed, although probably couldn't move in for a month. Still.. I'm sooooo excited. Always wanted to live in an actual house and not an apartment or duplex. It's not a huge house, but it's a house and I don't share a wall/ceiling/floor with anybody!
HOORAY! heart
Praying that it all works out.

Brian and I have an announcement to make (since half the town knows already, I figured I may as well announce it here). Today, I went to the doctor's office and through a faint line, they have confirmed that I am indeed 4 weeks pregnant. It's very early though, so please send me prayers/good vibes. I'm TERRIFIED that I'll lose it like last time. They gave me a prescription as a precautionary measure, although it's not 100%. Blood was taken today and then will be taken again on Monday. If the hormone levels double/triple, it's good. If not... not so much. I'm scared and happy, but.... gonk

Great news!
And well, after that explanation I'm not completely sure if I should go ahead with lots of congratulations or not, so these will be the quiet type wink
In any case, good luck! All the good vibes for you both.
