"Ike, Reid could you please come over here?"

Chao glanced at Rabid, wondering if the damage Ike had wrought would make for something to go in the book o' blackmail. She'd already caught a picture of Reid with his pants halfway down.
Reid stopped his humming and slid off his chair with a flutter of his wings, impulsively giving Ike's floffy tail a fond, gentle tug as he headed over towards Maggie. Catching sight of the small mirror and its reflection of the room Reid looked up at it curiously, what was that for?
"Wha' tha'?"

Rabid watched curiously. A dental mirror? It had something to do with his teeth themselves?
Ike slid off of the chair and followed Reid over to Maggie. The random objects were a bit unnerving. At least they were shiny.
"Ike dunno..."

"It's to see if Ike's teeth are alright. He's been chewing a lot, so it's the best place to start"
"Chao, could you please see Rei's weight and height while I check on Ike?"
She turned back to Ike "Open wide and don't move your tongue too much ok?"

Nodding Chao moved up, "oki Reid, onto the scale."
Getting one last glance at the shiny thing that was going to be in Ike's mouth Reid turned and hopped onto the scale.
Chao moved about, having pulled out a small notebook out of her pocket she quickly jot down her son's weight then measured his height. With the two figures written down, she motioned for him to hop off the scale and waited for Maggie to finish with Ike before giving her the numbers.

Ike opened his mouth as wide as he could, being sure to press his tongue down as flat as it would go. Why was the lady going to stick things in his mouth?

Maggie checked all of Ike's teeth before removing the dental mirror. "Well, they seem to be fine. A bit sharp but nothing abnormal for a vampire type"
She went to one of the drawers and took something that looked like a hard rubber cube "Lets do another test. Bite this repetedly for 10 minutes. And don't worry if any piece falls off"
She then turned her attention to Reid "So, what are the measurements?"

"Forty pounds... 1 foot, 10 inches..." Chao read off, giving the numbers an odd look. That seemed a little... small. Moreso than usual even, she was sure Reid had passed the second foot line a while ago.
Reid's wings twitched slightly and he looked up. What did the numbers mean anyway?

Ike, although embarassed, took the cube and shoved it in his mouth. He began chewing, slowly realizing that 10 minutes might as well have been forever. He cocked his head at the funny look Chao was giving her paper, though. What was wrong? He approached Reid and hovered over him protectively.
Rabid watched her son with an eyebrow quirked before peering over Chao's shoulder at the numbers.
"Hm. I'd thought he was taller than that before..."

"Yeah, that's strange. Wait just a minute" she steped out of the room
A few seconds later she returned, along with Jabir
"Maggie told me about Reid's height not being right" he kneeled down in front of Reid and put his long hands on his shoulders "Don't worry, I'm just going to check something up"

Reid fidgeted slightly and looked up at the long necked man, a worried frown settling on his lips. He really didn't like how everyone was sounding now.
Chao fidgeted as well, nodding in greeting as Jabir came back and wringing her hands slightly, "is something wrong?"

Ike, continuing to gnaw on the little block, moved a bit closer behind Reid. It wasn't that he didn't trust Jabir with Reid.
It was that he didn't trust anybody with Reid.
Rabid placed a hand on Chao's shoulder.
"I'm sure it's nothing," she attempted to comfort her friend, "You would have known before now if it was something serious."

"He's receding" he said plainly before removing his hands and getting back up again
"What do you mean?"
"His body is growing backwards. Instead of getting taller, he's getting shorter. I don't know why though. But it doesn't seem harmful at least"

Reid's wings twitched and his expression twisted in a mix of shock and fear. He was getting shorter?!
Nonono, that wasn't right! Quests meant getting taller!
"O-oh..." Chao managed, blinking in shock. Of everything she'd been expecting that hadn't been part of it. She moved forward and knelt down by Reid, wrapping her son in a tight embrace, vaguely noting that he was shaking slightly. "Do you know how much he's going to, erm, reced?"

Ike immediately threw his arms around Reid, and was therefore partially squashed by Miss Chao. He choked a bit as a little piece of Block broke off and slid down his throat. Augh...when was 10 minutes up?!
"Kinda like Merlin," Rabid murmured, a look of profound shock plastered on her face, "He's gonna be alright, right?" The poor kid...
