Rojiza smiles at Silver. At her question she looks up toward the priestesses, whose attention is fixed on the woman at the center. She sticks her tongue out at the nearest one to her. She grins back at Silver and bobs her head. It hadn't been a bad day so far.

"It's interesting that we've been placed here together," Irina said, giving Mirlea as much information as she knew, which sadly, wasn't much. "I'm pretty sure this is when they choose the woman to bear the spirit's child," she said. "I wish I could tell you more, but I was a bit busy before now--I had to search for something that would make Kalpana grow."

She motiioned over to the crowd, pointing out the priestess who was holding her daughter. "See, she's become an infant!" She smiled at Mirela, a most joyous look on her face. "It look some searching, so unfortuantely, I didn't get a chance to ask my priestess many questions. I don't know much else about this process. I should have been asking about more I suppose. Have you learned much about this?"

Mirela nodded in agreement with Irina, murmuring in reply - “Especially so close to the centre, by the priestess”. The young woman didn’t know whether their placement had merely been an accident, or whether there was a hidden purpose for their position - but such things would reveal themselves in time. As the conversation drifted from talk of the building festivities to that of Fortunette growth, the gypsy positively beamed; the news that Kalpana was now an infant bringing a broad smile to Mirela’s lips. “That’s wonderful!” she exclaimed, following the line of Irina’s finger and beaming at the badger child. “She is absolutely adorable, congratulations Irina” the teenager added, continuing to smile. Mirela had been elated when Tafari had grown, despite the task the Meij had required, and was glad that she was able to share such a special moment with her gypsy sister.

“I’m sure you could be forgiven for being distracted” Mirela said in jest, talk returning to the affair of which they were part. “Not much more then what I already mentioned” the young woman replied with a shake of her head, although the priest did say that the Spirit is the embodiment of the White Magick of the Sect, and that once born it will be raised like a normal child; although to the Sect this child will be their Savior. He did say something odd though, and a little rude, namely that the Meij was nothing more then a gypsy myth!”. The words caused Mirela to frown, shaking her head in an angered manner; clearly still unable to believe that the priest had said such a long. Falling silent and after searching her mind for various other details, ones that she hadn’t already spoken, Mirela’s scowl lessened as she nodded her head slightly - content with all that she had spoken.

Leshya'e smiled and bowed her head slightly as a scepter was handed to her. She gracefully and gently ran her fingers along it, examining it with wide eyes, wondering what exactly it was for. Running her fingers over the black stones that adorned it, she couldn't help but smile, as they reminded her of the dark beady eyes that Anezka once possesed as a small rabbit. Chewing lightly on her lip, she thought quietly to herself, Patience? What's that about?...And what are these for anyways? She shrugged and then began to look around at the other people with scepters, hoping to spot one of her wagon sisters in the crowd.

Anezka took no time at all to take on the effects of her scepters engraved word, Charisma. Once it was handed to her she began to wave it like a wand, dancing and hopping in place with a wide smile. "I'm a queen!...A fairy!...I'm a knight!...a sorceress!" She laughed as she began to pose and make-believe with the scepter, not caring what it was really for or to look it over like her mother.

Heather nodded, "Its understandable. I just hope once the two cats have got this out the way one might maybe grow so they can't fight as much." Heather sighed watching Kala's attacks, she was very clever and it worried her sometimes.

Kala followed him but if he ran too fast she would return, to bite Al. She has never done that before but to get at that cat she was willing to do anything. She pounced again, she was going to get him, no matter what.

Oh I don't know. I can see one of them going after a babe in arms.... Altaira was trying to think. She liked the caravan her want-to-be-a-wagon cart had joined. She was just making friends in it. She loved Sindri, however, and if needs be...she'd leave after this fight. Go back to where the caravan was, leave a letter, hitch up Dan to Wind Wheels and go. Ever since the bobcat'd grown from the flint, he and Kala had fought and now, with some of his fur turned red-gold by his own blood - and maybe some of Kalas? - she'd had enough. Maybe she should leave.

She was not a fighter by nature and even for preditors, this fight was unnatural.

"Sindri, schwibzik!" She got up, bobbed her head and started to go. He'd go to his 'room' at that and with her running though the people too...Al would snatch him up as soon as she could. Sod getting bitten.

Turning tail, as some would say, on a silver dollar and running towards that last pounce would make it a long shot - under her and straight into the people milling about with their torches. If he had no large size, no damage advantages, he had the grace of being a small target and having a cat's agility on his side. He wouldn't be able to keep up the in-the-open dodging for long. Flat out escape up trees and through people however, may do the trick.

This is not submission, Kala. This is tactical retreat. I am not broken.

Lorelei was, to be quite honest, disturbed by the whole show. Sindri was bleeding. Al had let it get to the point where her child was injured. They may have been animals still, but that made no difference in her eyes. She clutched Vanna close, remembering Aisrhan and the stones and "betrayal on the water."

"I... think I'm going to look around for a bit. See if I don't find any of our other sisters." Smiling, trying to put on a brave face to hide her retreat, Lorelei stood up, making sure Vanna was out of Kala's reach by settling her on one shoulder.

And then she wandered back into the main crowd, though not to wear Kala was, clutching her torch with white knuckles in one hand.

Heather sighed, they were all leaving. She stayed where she was, Kala coming back after her victory and Amkia was upset about Vanna leaving. "One day you will behave Kala."

She sighed looking at the crowd wondering where Susa was.

Altaira let Sindri sleep across the top of her haversack as she found her small pouch of herbs, a vial of the old womans 'cure all' and cloth strips. As her gran said, always be prepared. Finding a lonely corner of the celebrations, she sorted out the few cuts the bobcat had picked up.

Gods, she should have just thrown her torch at that panther the second the fight started. If it happened again, she would, fear of those fangs or no. No...if it happened again, she'd leave the wagon for sure.

"Yes, I find it a bit odd that both of us are so close to the inner circle," Irina said, looking around again to see the other women who were closest to the priestess. She saw nothing that made them different from the other women. Perhaps they had more spirit energy?

At Mirela's joyous congratulations, Irina broke into a large smile. "Thank you! I'm so glad that she's an infant now. We can start to work on things like walking and talking now. How's Tafari been? I heard that he grew as well. Congratulations to you too!" she beamed, giving the girl's shoulder a squeeze. "It's exciting to watch them grow and change. You never know what the meij has in store..."

Irina listened with great interest in what Mirela had to tell her about the White Sect and the Savior. She frowned as well when Mirela came to the part about the meij. A firm believer in gypsy magic, it frustrated Irina that some people didn't believe in it. She knew the magic was real. She had seen Kalpana transform not long ago! "If they do not believe in the Meij, why would they allow us gypsies into the circles? You'd think they'd keep us out...Especially those of us in the inner circle. What if one of us was chosen to bear the Savior? Would we have to give up our gyspy magic?" Irina didn't know quite what to think. There were so many questions...

"Illyana!!!!" DeArca said, the shock of seeing her before him being extraordinarily great. He had finally found her...."Illyana" he said, his hands pressing against the crystal as he looked at her within. "Its her...its really her!" He said, beginning to calm down as he took in more of what was in front of him. "But...this crystal box. Priestess, what is all this?" He asked, his hands roaming the structure to find an opening.

"Why is she inside this? What has happened to her? Why isn't she moving?" He asked, his heart full of so many questions in the excitement. But what if this was not to be a time of joy....what if...she wasn't living in there? No air, no space to move....oh no. "Illyana, its me...open your eyes!" He said, tapping the crystal, not knowing if he hit hard enough to shatter it. But if he destroyed the crystal, would it harm Illyana rather than free her. "Its like Ice...she's frozen within" He said, falling to his knees

"Illyana....its me...." He muttered, his face so close to the crystal that it fogged from his breath. "I've searched so far for you" He said, closing his eyes. No, DeArca! Keep running! Those are your people and you belong with them. Find you a family and love them with all your heart!... Illyana's last words from when they were separated apart when DeArca ran from the lumber farm to escape, hoping to find the truth about who he was and his parents. "I did, Illyana....I found a family....a little field mouse, named Ash....I wanted you to see him for so long. I...I haven't found information on my parents, but I'm still searching" He said, his forehead was against the crystal. "Illyana, you've been on my mind ever since we were apart....I've....I've wanted you to see the things I have. Such incredible things...we were supposed to see them together! Do them together! Illyana....please, just open your eyes" He asked.

The priests and priestess were surprised at the man's outburst- so much so, that they stopped touching their foreheads to the cobblestones in prayer and looked up at him.

"You know the Crystallaureate? I mean, she was once a real woman?" The priestess said, no less surprised than the gawp-eyed priests. "We found this... a solid block... with her inside, waiting one morning several months ago in the deepest part of the White Sect Shrine. No one could have gotten in- so we knew she had been sent to us as a sign of the Saviour. We didn't know what to call her, and so... the Crystallaureate."

DeArca listened carefully and looked down. "Its been months since I ran from the lumber farm. Illyana might have escaped and tried looking for me..." He muttered, closing his eyes as he shook his head. "I have to get her out...please, Priestess, tell me how." He begged, looking at them with such scared eyes.

She put her hand on the man's shoulder. "I'm sorry- there's nothing more I can tell you for now. You might as well... try to enjoy yourself." Even as she said it, it seemed empty.

The Choosing

A priest moves through the cheerful crowd in The City Park, with a small armful of scepters. He is offering any last person who would like to Express themselves a scepter. One who takes one- a Corphori who has already been encountered by one member of the caravan. Clostho takes the scepter, and smiles, then slips through the glade and makes her way into the city center with the others.

In the city center, the priestesses encourage all with scepters to gather around the siphoners bowls that have been collected on the ground in a haphazard group. Then they tell you- connect the tip of your scepter to the person next to you... and wait.

All Saviour's Day

The rings of women grow quiet, and a priest comes along behind and tells those in the back rows to connect hands. If you have children being cared for by a White Secter- they are being sheparded into one final ring- the outer ring, though they are not connecting hands.

Then, the priestess in the middle, sitting on her stool with the white cloth- so small it could almost be a handkerchief- stirs. She looks up, and then... tosses the cloth into the air, when all is silent.

"Find her," was all she said, and then watched as the cloth fluttered in a nonexistant wind... floating upwards as if to disappear into the blue sky. Almost when it was out of sight, the cloth erupted in a burst of light, and a white form with no shape- and yet, not any bigger than an orange or an apple... floated back down to hover just above the priestesses head. It floated there, lazily, for a minute... as if considering.

The priestess raised her hands to her shoulder level, palms up and her smile wide. She addressed the rings of women, though her eyes were upon the inner circle.

"What are you thinking, these mothers of hope? ...Do not tell me. Tell yourself. And tell the Saviour. It will hear what is in your mind."

This was not fair...it...it just wasn't. How could he just wait?....Grrrrrr....."It's not fair!!!!" He yelled to the air as he ran off, to be by himself.

Before Irina could get more information from Mirela, the crowd of women began to grow silent, in preparation for what would soon occur. Irina watched nervously as the priestess in the center of the circle shifted in her seat, pulling a handkerchief-looking cloth from her hand.

Irina watched wide-eyed as the priestess threw the cloth into the air and it exploded in a blinding light. The ball of light came down again, resting over the priestess' head, looking as if it was thinking about its next move. Perhaps this would be the time it would choose...

She listened to the priestess' instructions, and cleared her mind to concentrate her thoughts on the Savior. I am a new mother, and am not sure I am worthy of such an amazing opportunity. But if I am to be chosen, I will do my best...just like I am doing my best with Kalpana. I love my child, and will love all of my children relentlessly. If I am fit to be your mother, please, feel free...I welcome you with open arms.

Mere minutes ago, Irina wasn't sure what she'd be thinking at this point. Before, she wasn't even sure she wanted to be the mother of the Savior. But now, at the thought of giving birth and having a child of her very own flesh and blood, she relented to the Savior. She did love Kalpana with everything she had, but giving birth to a child was what most women desired more than anything.
