She didn't push him away. In fact, she pulled herself closer to him, her warm body melting against his as though they were meant to be. He could feel her heart thundeirng in her chest...or was that his? He pressed his forehead against the warm bare skin of her shoulder, his hand playing with the collar of her dress that now rested halfway down her upper arm, thumb stroking her skin. "I can't leave." He mumbled, still sane. Somehow he hadn't flown to pieces yet. "Why do you have to go? Why can't you stay?" There was a soft whine in his voice.

Sighing softly she nuzzled his neck gently. Foggy mind trying to figure out what words she should use nest. "Becuase...I have something to do...and I can't do that if I stay here. I want you to go with me...to stay with me." She said softly in a pleading tone. It almost seemed nice...and easy to stay here but she couldn't do that.

His mind went blank when she nuzzled him. What were they arguing about? Why did they have to be arguing? Couldn't they just cuddle? He wanted to die when he heard her pleading voice. He was still hurting her. Even when he showered her with affection, he still hurt her. He wiggled out of her hold once again. "I can't Kelala." His voice was broken. "I have to be here. I..." His wings flittered nervously. He wanted to hold her so badly. He wanted her to be happy. But he couldn't!

Kelala whimpered and shook her head stepping back...away from him. "Please Ovaan...come with me...I want you to stay with me...please." She whispered softly as she stared at the ground not bearing to look at him. She was so confused how she came to this from her orginal plan. How did it go from trying to get his trust to this intimate begging for him to come with her. She couldn't understand why he effected her so, why she longed for him to hold her and wanted him to come with her. But she was always one to go on what she felt...it was just never this confusing.

His mixed emotions exploded into anger. "I CAN'T!" He bellowed, sobbing. He turned on his heel and dived out the door, flying away from her into the trees. He had to get away from her. He had to think. How had it come to this? He'd been fine before. Upset, yes, guilty, yes. Now he was so confused! He wanted her to stay. He had to stay! Go with her? Out into the WORLD? Leave this forest - his forest - behind? No! He wouldn't. He couldn't! He had to be here. People would get hurt if he left...

Kelala shook her head willing herself not to cry. Growling softly she worked on her anger of being told no and him running off like that. It was better then being sad....resorting to crying. She can't let him see her like that it would only make things harder cuase he would try to comfert. THrowing her hands up in the air as to say to the ashes with it all she flopped onto his bed. Not caring that she wasn't suppose to be on it or not.

Hours later strong hands gripped Kelala's upper arms. "Kelala! Wake up!" There was a note of urgency in Ovaan's voice that had not been there for a long time. "Hurry! Get up!" Ovaan's hair was a mess, he was panting as though he'd flown very far very fast, and he was practically dancing with nerves.

"mmm what?" She mumbled as she slowly awoke from her slumber. But once her eyes were opened and she took in the urgency of his appearnce she bolted up from the bed and stood up. "Whats the matter Ovaan did something happen?" She asked as she looked him with all seriousness. Eyes darting about briefly to check if there was andy immediate danger.

Ovaan seemed to wrestle with himself for a moment. "Go." He pointed to a rug on the floor. "There's a door that leads all the way down to the base of the tree. Go. Get out. Leave now." He looked frantically towards the door. "Go now, there isn't much time! Leave and don't come back!"

Ovaan hissed, eyes flashing and wings flaring out as she grabbed his hand. "No! Go, now!" Again he turned towards the door. "Get OUT! Now! I don't want you hurt!" There was a beg in his voice. "Hurry!" His antenna were on end in alarm. "Please, just go!"

"Alright Ovaan...I'll go...just stay safe...please." She whispered softly as she began to kneel down on the floor. Moving the rug and opening the trap door. Before climbing down she gave him one last look, worry clearly written in her eyes. Shaking her head she descended down the tree.

Ovaan was dancing with nerves. He slammed the trap door shut as soon as she'd gotten far enough down for him to do so, throwing the old moth-eaten rug over it.

Hidden in the compartment leading to a crudely carved staircase that wound all the way to the base of the tree, Kelala would hear something like the following.

A few moments of silence. Then the sound of the door practically being ripped off its hinges. Ovaan crying out in alarm despite himself.

"Oh, are you so surprised to see me?" A deep, masculine voice boomed.

"You aren't supposed to come-" Ovaan's voice was shaky.

"Yet?" A deep laugh. "Times have changed, Ovaan. Give me your arm, I'll be quick."

"You weren't-"

When the man spoke again, his voice was harsh, "Are you questioning me?! Give me your arm. You dont want It after you, now do you?"

In a voice that was surprisingly clear, Ovaan replied evenly. "It doesn't exist." A silence. Then the sound of the back of the larger man's hand connecting with Ovaan's cheek. Ovaan falling to the floor.

"You. IDIOT. Your impudence...! Such gall you have to deny the entity that grants you life! I should just-"

"No!" Ovaan's voice, childish and full of fear.

"Then behave."

Silence. A soft whimper from Ovaan, followed by more silence. "You've been working out, keeping yourself in shape like I told you to. Good." No sound as Ovaan nodded, pleased with the compliment.

Silence.

"You-you're taking more than usual..."

"Times have changed."

"It hurts." A whine. "I feel dizzy."

"You will for a while, Ovaan."

"Ouch!"

"HOLD STILL!"

A whimper, then more silence. A soft moan, then the sound of a body hitting the floor. A soft chuckle.

"Good boy."

A long time later, there was no more sound. The strange man had gone, leaving Ovaan unconscious, sprawled on the floor where he'd fallen from the chair he'd sat on, a tiny rivulet of blood on his bicep where the needle had struck him. He'd passed out from loss of blood.

"Ovaan." Was all that Kelala could whisper as she stayed right below the trap door hearing everything. Tears pricked her eyes as she stayed there foolishly. She wished she had gone up but she didn't know what would have happened if she had...what would happen to Ovaan. After a few moments of silence she moved to open the trap door.

It took a moment to do so the door creaking as she did so. After crawling out of the hole and coming out from being under the rug she franticaly looked about. She couldn't hold back the gasped that escaped her lips as she saw Ovaan.

"Ovaan...Ovaan!" She nearly screamed as she rushed to his side looking over him to see what was wrong for him. But all she could find was the needle p***k on his arm that was still bleeding but seeming to slow down.

Rushing about the tree she gathered the catrage of water and some scraps of fabric and towls. Cleaning the small wound from the blood then dressin it incase it started to bleed again. Sighing pitifully she shifted his body so he was using her lap as a pillow. "Oh Ovaan...what happened to you?" She whispered softly as she ran her fingers through his hair tears running down her cheeks.

Ovaan mumbled something softly, but he was too weak to form a whole sentence. He felt weak all over, like Davonin had just pile-drive dhim rather then just taken his routine draw of blood. What had gone wrong? It was usually so quick and painless. Davonin wasn't supposed to have come yet...he was early. And something went wrong. Something, but what? Ovaan's abused mind couldn't figure out that the man had simply taken more blood than Ovaan could stand being taken from him. He, of course, felt that it was his fault. He had done something wrong. He had denied It...

What had he done?!

A soft, pitiful moan escaped his lips. He was still unaware of where he was, too weak to open his eyes, too weak to move, too weak to think straight.
