"Hmm...? Oh, a while... let's see... about seven Turns now, I believe. Time kinda flies by, doesn't it?" He regarded Rayi for a moment. "What about you? How long have you and Wrath been together?"

Announcing themselves again, T'rin and Morkth make a swift landing. T'rin yawned, stumbling a little as he dismounted. He looked around. Where would Rayinte be...? She'd requested an egg... and he wasn't about to ask Morkth to bespeak Wrath. Not when she was in the state she was! He may be a glutton for punishment, but he wasn't that stupid!

He sighed and began to wander around the Weyr until he bumped into her. Not saying a word, he shoved the pot into her arms, nodded to the anonymous rider talking to her, and hightailed it out of there.

"To be honest, I forget to add them. I think it must be getting really close to four turns though." She was about to add more when a vaguely familiar face ran up to her. He shoved a flit eggpot into her arms and ran away.

"Oh my. I wonder if he's afraid of me."

Blinking as a rider quickly deposited something in the goldrider's arms and abruptly left, P'las raised an eyebrow. "Odd guy..." The man's voice trailed off as he spotted the object in Rayi's hands. "A flit egg? Those seem to be getting common recently. Perhaps I should get one of the little buggers..."

Ray shrugs. "I have a queen, she's rather useful when she isn't avoiding me... but when a Weyrling I met briefly at Fort mentioned something about having a lot of extra eggs from her queen's clutch, I figured I may as well raise another."

She puts the pot on the table. "If nothing else, they're good during Threadfall. I don't know if that Weyrling still has flit eggs, but I'm sure you could send word there and ask, just to see. Who knows? I think one of our Weyrlings' queens just had a Flight, so you could ask here too in a few sevendays."

P'las nodded. "We don't have that many in High Reaches. I've seen several of them around here. I may just start asking around for a few to take back sometime." He paused, looking back at Rayi. "They fight Thread? I've never seen that..."

"Yes, all colors of Flits can chew firestone, even the Queens. First time I saw Isskio do it, I was completely stunned... but it doesn't interfere with her clutching. She patrols Wrath's wings during Threadfall, catches stray Threads and warns us of clumps we haven't noticed."

"Even the Queens?!" That surprised P'las. He knew that the gold dragons couldn't chew firestone, but the flits could? Amazing. That was rather hard to believe though, as dragonriders were told that the golds couldn't chew. So to see a gold chew firestone... That must've been quite a shock.

"Yeah. But then, although they look so much alike, there are a lot of differences between dragons and flits. I guess this is one of them." Ray smiles wistfully, wondering where Isskio could be at the moment.

"That's interesting... I know that the bond isn't as strong as one with a dragon and that you can Impress multiple flits. Are there any other differences?" P'las now looked like a little boy, curious as could be about flits. Looks like he'd be searching for someone soon to find one.

T'thia's thoughts of her lessons were interupted as Lira popped from between crooning at her

"you're more subdued now, good flight?"

she offered her flit some pieces of bread and a few chunks of meat. she rubbed her tiny belly

"fill it up, you eat for more then yourself now"

she gave a small chuckle as she shared her meal with her gold flit

"Well, Greens and Blues don't always make strong bonds, especially if they don't get a whole lot of attention as hatchlings. Bronzes and Golds are known to be especially loyal, and Browns can really go either way. But given a lot of loving attention, any flit will be incredibly devoted to 'their person.' If someone so much as shakes a fist at me in anger, Isskio is right there clawing at their hand." Ray sighs at that particular memory... the lecture she'd gotten after that!!!

"They also seem sometimes to share bonds. If two people spend a lot of time together, a flit raised by one of them will often listen to and communicate with both."

"Interesting. They do sound quite different from dragons." Sure, dragons would speak to other people, but they didn't share bonds. "I've heard that they're rather hard to understand, too. That they don't speak, but give images...?"

Ray winces. "Yeah, they can be confusing at times. Dragons are pretty good at interpreting them though. High Reaches is pretty far north, isn't it? Probably why you don't see many flits, they like sunnier climates, and they don't always clutch in convenient locations for their owners."

P'las laughed at Rayi's expression. "Yeah, it's usually cold there, so I guess that would be why. They like to clutch on beaches, don't they?" He grinned. "No beaches at High Reaches. Though the dragons don't seem to mind the cold weather..."
