“Feeling better?” Adencia inquired to Kayoe with a slight smile. She was a bit surprised to see the sudden gathering of people about her and Thorn but couldn’t complain. This was more company than she had had in about a year. She had no problem in having listeners as she spoke about her curse either. It was rather important that all of them be truthful about such things. Nothing short of life depended on this knowledge.
“I hope you didn’t hurt yourself,” she continued as she stood, “There are better ways to go about that you know.”

They were distracted from Adencia's question by the awakening of Kayoe. After seeing that his newest friend was alright Thorn turned back to Adencia. "Yes, that is true I am actually in my twenties. I was cursed as a boy and since that day my body has stayed the exact same except my mind. Since I am cursed to stay the same as I was the day I was cursed I do not get sick and I heal much faster than any other being. I'm sorry but I don't really like to talk about my curse. But I also pryed into your personal life which was rude of me I am sorry." Thorn glanced at his reflection in his ax seeing an eleven year old stranger staring back at him. "It just brings back painful memories, the other kids picking fun of me, the disapointment in my fathers eyes." A single tear rolled down Thorn's cheek as he thought about his early years with the curse.

Adencia looked to Thorn and put a hand on his shoulder.
“It’s alright, you weren’t prying.” She said softly, “And I’m sorry for asking, I didn’t know it bothered you so much. Don’t worry about things, they’ll get better. You have a friend right here that’s got your back.” She smiled to him reassuringly and patted his shoulder slightly.
Garren walked up to the group and saw Kayoe back on his feet.
“Good to see you’re awake,” he said, “Sorry to rush everyone but we need to get back on the trail. If you need a moment, Kayoe, then we can spare a time for you to get yourself together. I’ll go saddle up Meena again so we can get along – the sun is getting high in the sky now.”

Thorn looked at the elf and realised he wasn't the only one that had internal struggles with a curse. "Thanks." Thorn told the elf. "Its been a long time since any one has cared about me. If you ever need any thing I will be there. You have helped me more than you can imagine, thanks." Thorn grabed the elf in a hug doing so he thought of somethign and asked so that only she could hear. "Adencia, when you were the eagle did you notice any strange weather or storms or anything? I can't shake this feeling that a big storm is creeping up on us."

Adencia smiled and returned Thorn’s embrace affectionately. As he asked her about storm clouds she looked to the sky and thought about it.
“Yeah,” she replied, “There were some pretty nasty ones. They looked like they’d been brewing for a while, almost black. They’re drifting towards us from the direction we’re traveling. Looks like by tomorrow we’re going to be in one tum-tigger of a storm. Either that or they’ll pour out before they get to us.”
As she spoke a familiar call came to her ears. Ekko was back on her shoulder after his little wander. It was extremely convenient that he be gone while she was an eagle, otherwise he would have become territorial. Adencia supposed Ekko just seemed to know when things were going to happen – when he should be around and when he shouldn’t. He was a very smart bird.
Adencia stroked the hawk’s speckled chest and he nibbled at her finger lovingly. Then, ever the curious bird that Ekko was, he hopped from each person in the group and landed on their heads to peer down into their eyes. His little way of becoming an acquaintance. Spotting Zera he flew to her. She was another of the Elvin kind and ever since Adencia helped him Ekko knew them to be friends. This wasn’t a friend he had met yet.
Picking at her hair, Ekko crooned at the light haired girl and looked to her with dark eyes.
“Ekko,” Adencia called with a smile, “Stop being silly and leave everyone alone.”
Ekko did as he was told and glided down to the ground but continued to jump around the grass excitedly. He had never seen so many people in one place before.

((Tun-tigger? You read Pendragon? Cool!))
"Its alright, you were no trouble." Tanyeera assured Kayoe but she was more interested in the news of a storm. "Ah... that storm you mentioned," she said with uncharacteristic diffidence. "How strong were you thinking it might be? In regards with winds, amount of rain, lightning... that sort of thing?"

((Yeah, I'm only obsessed. xp Pendragon is awsome.))
Adencia regarded Tanyeera and shrugged.
“I’m not quite sure about the specifics. It definitely looked like it would be a thunder storm with some pretty heavy rain. The clouds weren’t moving all that fast so I’m sure the wing ought not be too strong. I’m sure we’ll all be fine under the cover of the forest.” She assured her though she didn’t think assurance was the problem.

((Totally. Can't wait for the book after the Quillan Games to get out.))
Tanyeera made some mental calculations. Heavy rain but not much wind.... probably some lightning flashes but nothing too strong she hoped.... yeah, she'd probably be fine. Probably.
"Yeah, fine." Tanyeera wasn't very happy about it, but she was even less inclined to tell people her weakness.... even if those people were to be her travelling companions. Besides, it wasn't as though those.... quirks... of hers made her a danger to anyone except maybe herself.

((You mean the Pilgrims of Rayne? It comes out May 8th. I cant wait.))
“Alright.” Garren called out, “Time to get on the move. It’s getting late.”
Garren lead Meena back to the trail and patted the black horse fondly. Pulling out his pocket watch he saw that he had about another fifteen minutes left in his ‘shift.’ Hopefully they could get somewhere during this time.
((Sorry for the oober short post of doom, I'm a little busy. I'll post later and fast forward to Soul's River in that post so if you're going to post something make sure it won't take several posts in the 'present time.'))

((Alrighteee. Fast forward post done . . . here we are.)) The group traveled along the trail again and none of them stopped. They went without further trouble and neither of them was disturbed by anything as they walked. It was long and dull but they needed to enjoy the tranquility while it lasted because in the weeks to come there would be no break from the danger. As the sun began getting lower in the sky they neared their destination. Isarelle looked to the sky to see hues of yellows and oranges then pinks and dark purples. The skies would be clear that night and the stars would be bright, though this would be the last clear night for a little while. The storm was coming up on them quickly and one could be guaranteed that it would not pass them as quickly as it had come up on them. Meena gave a whinny as her keen ears caught the sound of rushing water, the very liquid she was longing for to quench her thirst. Just a little further down the road they came upon the river and looked to the bridge that would carry them over it. It seemed sturdy and would prove to be so. Before anyone crossed Isarelle looked to the great white trees that stood in the middle of the river with lanterns attached to their boughs. Travelers placed them there to light their way across the river in the late hours of the night. With a simple spell Isarelle lit them and sent to group across the bridge in the glow of the lamp’s flame. Soon everyone was on the river’s bank to the east side looking at the trail on which they would continue the next day. Quickly finding the small site that many a traveler had used for camp, Isarelle directed everyone to it and cast a small fire as the sun set and left it’s last rays dancing on the skies which here beginning to twinkle with stars. “Welcome to Soul’s River” ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Soul's River

Kayoe had walked along and had since regained his balance and composure. Zera and he had chatted idly about various things, what Kayoe had been up to since Zera had seen him last, how things were at the dojo, and other pleasantries. As they approached the river Kayoe asked a question he had had on his mind for a while. “Who did you leave in charge?” He asked “Oh, Mikana!” Zera replied “Hmm...” Kayoe searched his brain, tiring to put a face to the name, Zera saw the look on his face and laughed. “Even if you’re not ready to stay, you should at least stop by more, you hardly know any of your students!” “Well, honestly they’re much more yours then mine,” The half-elf chuckled “I barely stop in for an annual ‘keep up the good work’, and it’s not even for them...” He trailed off, he was referring to his annual visit to Merinas’ grave, she was buried quite close to the dojo, both of them knew there was no place she would rather be... Kayoe sighed as he sat down at the campsite, “So is she up to it, or are you going to be heading back here soon?” “Well, she’s not much of a substitute for you or I,” Zera said truthfully “but all she really needs is experience, and she knows her stuff. I’ll see you to at least Kendica, I haven’t decided yet if she’s ready to leave in charge for as long as you say this trip will take...” She looked to Kayoe, hoping to get a request to come along further, or something along the lines of ‘if you trained her then I’m sure she’s ready’, as such she was slightly disappointed with Kayoe’s response, “Well, it’s really up to you...”

Tanyeera looked about their camp site with interest, paying particular attention to the lattern-strewn trees because they were such a pretty oddity. The sight and sound of the rushing river brought up a certain restlessness in her, an ache if you will. However, she firmly restrained herself and went to gaze into the fire instead. She was in no danger from this little blaze, it wasn't big enough to pull her in... much. It did draw her gaze in though and spread a quiet pleasant lassitude throughout her body. It was... soothing though she knew that would not have been the case had it been larger than it was now.

Thorn who was sitting across the camp watching Kayoe and Zera talk, when he saw a break in their conversation and stood up and walk to them pulling his ax off his back on the way. "Well, how about that duel?" Thorn asked turning and walking out of the camp to a clearing across the trail. He turned around waiting for the swordsman ax drawn. Thorn had to prove that he was just as skilled a fighter as any in the group, not only to them but also to himself. This was going to be his chance if he could match the swordsman in combat then the group would have to except him as a skilled fighter. Thorn after seeing Zera and Kayoe fight was hoping that the swordsman had never fought against an ax wielding opponent before, therefore giving Thorn an advantage of fighting with a completely new technique to the half-elf swordsman.

Tanyeera looked up in interest as Thorn issued the challenge for the duel and waited to hear Kayoe's reply. Things could turn out quite interesting if Kayoe decided to accept.
