I can't wait for the March release. Viz has been putting their mangas out faster than they have posted. I think the release date sheet is a week or so back from when they hope to have it out in stores, so that people don't get bitchy about the manga not being on time. I'm going to buy 3 for my birthday, oh happy days.

KaramelKat I hope the first two manga release dates 7/1/05 and 11/1/05 set a precedent for the March release of #3 - 3/11/05 (four months between releases). I just got this series last weekend and I must say -- I couldn't put it down. I definitely like Genbu Kaiden way better than the original, although it's possibly because my favorite character in FY (Yui) is construed as evil which she is NOT. Genbu Kaiden is awesome though. I love the dynamics she's created between Takiko and Uruki. I forgot that Rimudo turns into a female and for a while there (in the first few chapters) I thought - OMG! Yu Watase is going to do a girl-girl romance!!! The Uruki changed into Rimudo and I thought - Oh okay she's been reading Ranma 1/2 and Sailor Stars for inspiration (KIDDING!!! You do know Yu and Naoko are best friends right?) Anyways it's a good series. I can't wait to read more and find out if the end really is the 'end' or if we'll meet Uruki/Rimudo in school. Only will Uruki be a girl or a boy? Only time will tell. Just as with everything else. I mean, in the original, didn't some sort of misfortune fall upon Takiko in the end? I really need to reread them when I have the time. sweatdrop

Even Yuu herself said she regretted making them seem so unimportant in the first two novels and writing their endings before the legend had been told. So maybe she'll change the ending? Eh?

I finally got Genbu Kaiden! The first one.
I love it. Yu Watase does it again. I'm not too fond of Limdo, though.
Personally, I like the original FY better, but that's just me.
*sigh* Now I have even more manga to buy. I need to get the last Imadoki, more of the original FY, more of Genbu Kaiden, more of Fruits Basket, etc. Great...
Maybe I can ask my Japanese friend for manga for my birthday in a couple of months.

The third volume comes out next month...It's almost too much to bear gonk But if it's for a Watase classic then I'll wait forever if I have to.
Anyway, I wonder how The Song of the Gondola really sounds...It'd be wonderful to hear it someday.

Whoops. Well I've been told to post here, so I'd like to ask a question! (shamelessly copied and posted from my locked topic... hopefully that's alright?)
I'm wondering what theories people have come up with regarding the 8th seishi who mentioned by Anruu in the Genbu Kaiden. Seems like a pretty bizarre twist to the story, and I've heard a lot of different ideas about who it could be and why there's suddenly an eighth seishi.
So far I'm betting on it being Hagasu (sorry, I don't know what his name is in the Viz translation...), mostly because of his ability to mimic the powers of the other seishi. What do you think?

I'm a horrible person when it comes to speculation, and fairly lazy as well. I'm just waiting to see what happens really. I have no theory, no ideas, and no speculation regarding the eighth seishi. Only because at this point I really think it could be just about anyone. Though Haagasu is a very good candidate, since he's a huge a** conundrum in all this.

How Takiko dies in mentioned in the orriginal series was never 100% confirmed. Yes, they find a letter from Einoske saying he was going to kill her, but there were no new articles or anything written other than that in the story to confirm that he really did kill his own daughter. Not even Suzuno mentioned anything about what happened to Takiko. So really, there's still a lot of story that Watase can use as to what really happened to Takiko.
I always love trying to guess what will happen next. If GK goes on for as long as the SS arc did, I predict many, Rimudo and Takiko break-ups, and a Takiko thinking she was raped... the traditional stuff Watase does whee

I don't know, Takiko and Rimudo are more mature than Miaka and Tamahome. I don't think Takiko would hide as much from Rimudo. I don't predict many breakups between the two because of how low-profile their relationship is. Miaka and Tamahome were very touchy feely, but Rimudo and Takiko understand that Takiko is the priestess and they cant be as close as they would like to be. I think Takiko will face more of people trying to murder her than rape her.

I think Takiko will face more of people trying to murder her than rape her. I totally second that. If you've really read and paid attention thus far you can already see how different Rimudo and Takiko are from Miaka and Tamahome. Miaka and Tamahome went just barreling through not really thinking about the consequences or what might happen. Unlike Miaka, Takiko hasn't exactly gotten the greatest reception as a priestess, so essentially, she probably understands that at that moment a relationship with one of her seishi isn't the best of ideas. To love each other enough that they can be able to hold back. Now that is admiring and mature.
