*Kigen was also aware that the rest of the inhabitants of this place were watching..and she was making quite a fuss...this would not do. he was not afraid of her strike...he would take it gladly if it meant her cooperation. As the priestess, she would be entitled to such power...in fact the only mortal who would weild such power. He didn't bother trying to respond just yet, with all that was going on, they wouldn't accomplish much before somone interrupted. He held fast and the closed his eyes, grunting as he focused. The character on his forehead glowed brightly, a strain on his body, but he felt it neccessary. A sphere of power once again formed around them, Isolating them in the rift of time. Truthfully, her past experiences were not something he could contest, nor do anything about, but he needed to get some things straight..and put his cards on the table. His grip on her loosesned as his primary focus was on the energy surrounding them...even if she moved away, she would remain in the rift until he passed out, or lifted it...either was possible at this junction.*

"I fear there will be deaths if you do not help me."

Yui snorted, but hesitated in her reply. There was something about the way he'd said those words that made her wonder if he might not be telling the truth. But of course that was ridiculous.

"Why would you think that?" she finally answered, though her tone was a bit more concerned and a bit less hostile. "What difference would I make? I don't have any power, and even if I did at some point it's long gone now." She looked down at her hands, remembering those months of Hell and fighting back a shudder. Though she knew that many positives had come from that experience, it still wasn't something she relished remembering in great detail. "I'm not... I wasn't really fit to be a Priestess, you see."

::Kage wavered just a bit::

"I don't know...Exactly where it was...But it must have been a park or something...there was a very larch tree in a clearing...And you were bleeding...pretty badly...somone must have beaten you up quite a bit..."

:He chuckled in spite of himself::

"And I'm sure you deserved it, with that angry disposition of yours..."

"Besides, you shouldn't judge an entire group of people just by one from their group. Entire ethnicities...groups...sects...peoples and ways of life have been wiped out by such things."

Takashi frowned at the stranger's sudden irritability. Well, he supposed he couldn't blame him -- Kyo wasn't exactly being friendly. The college student stepped in and attempted to make amends again. "Listen, I've known Kyo his whole life, an' while he's been in a lotta fights he's never been in th' kinda condition you described. I'd definitely remember somethin' like that -- his mom'd never let us ferget it. An' I apologize fer his unbelievably rude behavior again. Fer what it's worth, he makes all Osaka natives look like a buncha cavemen."

Takashi turned to pop his friend jokingly across the head, but stopped when he noticed the strange look in Kyo's eyes. The high schooler's brown-gold orbs stared wide-eyed at a spot past Takashi... or maybe it was more appropriate to say he was staring through him, with the way his eyes were glazed over, just slightly...

"Oi, Kyo..." Takashi said quietly, taking a cautious step towards his companion. "Somethin' wrong?"

Kyo winced and grabbed at his ribs, but at the sound of his friend's voice his eyes snapped back into focus. He blinked several times, still groping at his chest as if he'd been hit. "Eh? Wrong? No... no, nothin's wrong." His eyes slid past Takashi and towards the stranger. He said nothing for a long moment. Then, quietly, he muttered an answer to the man's earlier comment. "Deserved it, eh? Y'know, somehow I don't think I did."

Takashi's eyebrows rose, but he said nothing. He couldn't think of anything to say, and to be honest, he wasn't sure if Kyo would hear him anyway. The young man's attention was centered on the stranger, and that sense of foreboding was growing in Takashi's stomach again... something was wrong here, deeply wrong...

"It has nothing to do with what i think...It has to do with what I know. You see...I know the Avatar of Seiryuu...we have met...and fought on many occasions...and if she succeeds...Not only will it be the end of me...but of everything and everyone related to Seiryuu."

*He gained a little more composure and held himself up a little better*

"It is not your power that is important...it is your connection with Seiryuu...through the priestess the true power of the beast gods can be channeled. So to that end...you can make all the difference. The problem is...I am not enough as I am for us to complete the task...my power is not what it should be....there are others...here...in this world who have stolen it from me. Everything is getting more and more difficult..."

*He coughed and tried feebly to stand*

"Don't you see? Because you have been a priestess already...because you recognize what it takes to be one...even though you feel you are not fit...you are...that only shows it more!"

*The same glazed over look could be seen in Kage's eyes when Takashi tried to make appeasement, and he also appeared to be looking through him. His stance was changed, not a calm freindly one you might have when meeting a new person, but a strong menacing stance.*

"Moron...Such an annoying distraction...You might as well give up."

*A sinister smirk formed on his lips*

(( I assume you meant the Avatar of Suzaku, seeing as how you are the Avatar of Seiryuu... whee ))

Yui hesitated. The idea of Seiryuu, of her old seishi, even of this stranger who called himself an "Avatar" being destroyed unsettled her deeply. She raised an eyebrow at his comment about "others," wondering who else could possibly be involved with this mess on her world -- then her breath caught in her throat.

If Taka had... then... could it be possible that... was he referring to...?

Miboshi. Ashitare. Tomo. Soi. Amiboshi, the seishi she had never met. Suboshi, the seishi who had looked after her for so long. And him, the one she had never understood, the one who had saved her, manipulated her, loved her, used her, nearly gotten she and her entire world destroyed... and the one who still, somehow, intrigued her so much.

Nakago.

Was it possible... could they all be... and there was so much she needed to tell them, so many things she'd never said because of her blindness and stupidity...

Yui glanced down at the kneeling Avatar, all but begging for her assistance, but couldn't quite bring herself to say "yes." Because she'd been tricked before, and hundreds had died, and she had no intention of having that happen again.

"And what will you do to get this power back from these 'others'?" she inquired calmly. "Furthermore, what will you do when you get your power back? Destroy Suzaku and his allies? I won't be a pawn in a race to destruction."

Takashi kept a grip on Kyo's arm, and that familiar touch anchored him just enough to reality that he didn't lose himself in that illusion again. Because that's all it was, Kyo told himself firmly; just an illusion. Just a vivid, intense, painful, furious illusion, the kind of illusion that made him feel truly alive, truly complete for the first time in -- oh, he couldn't even remember...

But it was still an illusion.

Wasn't it?

The words that growled out of the stranger's mouth almost startled him back into that fantasy. They sounded familiar, especially the tone -- it invoked a fire inside of him, and it took almost all of his will power to keep from attacking the young man. But attacking him was ridiculous -- he'd done nothing wrong. He was just sucked into a dream, same as Kyo had been. But was it the same dream? There was only one way to find out.

A name came to Kyo's mind, and a place, and vaguely, so very vaguely, a face with a pair of icy blue eyes. Timidly, Kyo called across the small clearing, praying that he wasn't going insane, praying that they shared a dream, praying that this would work. "Ya c'n come on back, Nakago. Th' past is a nasty place t'get lost. Old wounds ain't gonna heal any faster if we add some new ones, and we got no reason t'fight in this place."

*Kigen was on the edge now...he wasn't going to be able to hold out much longer...and it was obvious that her issues..her past...would not allow her to rush into anything...and if she found him lying to her...he he would lose...for she held the power in this case, and as her past experience was not a good one...she would likely use it if the time came. He decided honesty was the best thing for him to do...deceptive honesty at least...his intention..yes...to beat Suzaku...but the joint intention...to survive and defeat the power that had destroyed the Avatrs of Genbu and Byakko, rendering those beast gods innefectual. That was why they had made their way to this world...to escape, at least for the time being, that power, and then after settling their age old score, overcoming that power and setting supreme his or her beast god. But he could leave all that off for the time being. He needed to turn her focus to the "evil" that was destroying their world.*

"Could we...Get somewhere a little more private...where we can talk...I can't hold this much longer...and the people here will interfear...after the recent scene..."

*He pushed himself up.*

*'Nakago!' He had never heard that name before had he? Then why did it feel like a part of his very being that was empty or missing, was now full...complete. He blinked and saw a gazebo of sorts...he was looking down on the clearing...that tree...and there he was, squaring off with another man in black...some things were so clear..others still not coming to him...and then in the next instance, He was down in the clearing...and as his eyes opened he was back in the real world...with a new found sense of self.*

*Kage took a step back. He wasn't backing down from the fight, no...that would not be allowed, but he was recomposing himself, speaking with a strange new confidence*

Kyo's eyes widened at the name that he knew but had never heard before. "So it is th' same dream," he said quietly, excitedly. He took a cautious step towards the stranger who he now recognized, but didn't recognize at all. "You c'n remember it too? Somethin'... somethin' from a long time ago. From another place? Only it don't make any sense, 'cause none-a that ever happened... We were fightin', sorta, only I wasn't fightin' you exactly, not that one time... there were other times too, though, wasn't there? I know there was..."

Takashi jerked at his friend's arm, his own hazel eyes wide with fright. "Kyo, what th' hell are you ramblin' on about?"

"Th' dream, Takashi... I think I've had it b'fore too, or different parts, only I never put 'em t'gether 'till now. An' this guy knows it too, he must or he wouldn't-a called me 'Tasuki.'" Kyo stared at his comrade for a moment, watching him with an intensity that almost made Takashi wince. "Oi... you were there too, weren't ya...?"

For a moment Takashi saw a ball of flames, a fiery-haired youth, and a young girl dying in his arms -- but he blinked and things were back to the way they should be, and he didn't want them to be any different. "I don't know what yer talkin' about!" he insisted. "Look, we got other things t'do, let's get outta here, this is ridiculous--"

But Kyo wasn't listening anymore. Rather, he'd turned back to "Nakago" and addressed him like an old friend, though he knew it was more fair to call him an old enemy. But none of tha mattered right now, because he was Kyo and not Tasuki, and the man before him wasn't an enemy but a link to something strange and wonderful. "What c'n you remember? Maybe we c'n piece this mess t'gether... maybe we need a shrink t'tell us what it all means... 'r a psychic 'r somethin'... only it's gotta mean somethin', right, 'cause people don't dream the same dream, not like that.?"

*Kigen didn't even respond...he stumbled his way to the end of the block and around the corner and the power surrounding them fall. They were still out in the open, jjust on a nearby street, and that should fit her demand. He all but fell back aagisnt the wall of the building on the corner, his body drained...sweat falling from his brow...his breathing heavy. He doubted he could do much to anyone in this condition.*

"Getting used to this...is difficult...*he said in a raspy tone*

*After a moments catching his breath and complete relaxing against the building, he looke dup to her as if he was going to say something...but paused*

"I think it will be better if I show you...rather than try to explain..."

*Despite his body's condition, his mind was still as sharp and ready as ever...and he knew he could do better this way. A little concentration, and the symbol on his forhead glowed ever so lightly.*

"Touch your hand to the symbol...and I will send my life force to you through it..and through that...you will see the memories that lead us up to this point...and then...perhaps...you will trust me."

Sanjiro had been silent, stepped away from the others and was now staring at his arm. A small message had begun to scrawl its way across his skin. He pulled up his sleeve and quickly read the message.
Watch out for weird guys talking of 'recruiting.'
People with weird powers about.
Meet me at my dorm.

Sanjiro folded his sleeve back over the note and had started to walk away when his flute case slammed against his knee and flew open. The instrument fell onto the grass and rolled in between the others. He cussed under his breathe.

*With the advent of the new revelations...Kage had been conpletely distraccted from his musically talented acquaintance. He paused for a moment, not seeing him where they had last been talking, and then a small glimmer of something caught his eye. he looked down to the "lost" flute that had rolled between them. He leaned down, taking his focus from their companions and plucked it slowly out of the grass. He rose just as slowly, almost transfixed on the flute*
