Mutsu I play them all from bass to saprano Aren't they all the same fingerings, just different embrochures? Could I pick one up without instruction and play it if I had music? Just curious.

Mexra--I would reccomend definitely NOT dropping band because of the teacher. I dropped band at the very beginning of seventh grade because I was the teacher's scapegoat for everything. If a trumpet squeaked, it was my fault. stare But now I really regret quitting, because I'm so far behind the other band members now, and I missed out on a lot of fun. Try it out for a while, and if it's REALLY bad, you can always drop the class, right?

Your sig is beautiful. My entire band is obsessed with Phantom of the Opera. This just inspired me to put on SCV's 1989 field show. wink
I think your sig is a little too big, too. 500x500 and less than 100kb. 3nodding

Rico is a swear word to my band. 3nodding We have to use VanDoren or Hemke reeds (Hemkes are an exception) for marching and concert, but in jazz they let it slide.
One of my friends bought these reeds from New Zealand and our BD freaked out when he used one. xd

I don't know how exactly he manages that... I like Vandorens a LOT better. Eh, I guess it's all personal taste. I'm on tenor for concert band now, too. The other flute players were just... eh. I didn't want to deal with it anymore. And after playing sax for two weeks because my flute was in the shop, I'm more used to it now. I heart flute, but I can't stand my section. I love the sax players, though. Actually, in the wind ensemble concert band, the sax section's ALL guys except for me (there's four of them). The freshman alto is kind of irritating at times, but the other three are fun. XD

My middle school director insisted on using "La voz" reads. They were okay, but... meh... Vandoren's are all I need. The java has a good sound... I think it's softer than a regular Vandoren, because it's pretty easy... And they certainly don't go... funky fast. (You've all seen what happens to a reed that's left on the sax for an... extended amount of time, right? That's what I mean by "going funky". These reeds don't...). I'm bored. Is anyone else bored? I'm always bored...
Oh, and Mexra: Don't quit. You'll regret it if you do. Just get on the teacher's good side. If you try hard enough, you can. One of our directors is... hard-a** too (for lack of a better term). Actually, two out of our three directors are (though most only realize that it's two and not one if they're in the drumline or pit). Don't quit. It'll be worth it in the end.

I play the sax now. I desperately want to switch to tenor in wind ensemble, but I'm 2nd chair for flute, and don't want to give it up. And, the tenor's in my class are either annoying, or I dislike them for some other reason. I'd still really like to switch, though.
