ph34r_the_dark_faerie oh s**t. uhm, it might be a better idea for him to take music in school. or else, do you have any brass players in your house? he.. no really. He can't take it in school. He's going to Options right now, and they don't have a music program. And I'm the only musician in the family. sweatdrop I can KIND of play brass, though. Like, I can make sounds and stuff. xd

Hullo.... I'm a French Horn section leader. I have four people in my section, and two of them usually play sax.... so there's mostly two of us. I love Fench Horn nonetheless.....

Heh... I'm not a section leader, just a lowly member (although, being of french horn nature, I am naturally above any other sections' section leader. wink ) I'm a sophomore and I'm gong to be assistant section leader next year, although I will be the best player by far... Our BD has a strong senior preference rule. gonk
But yeah... I have a nickel silver large bore Holton Farkas H179, and I love it more than life. And mellophones suck hardcore - I hate how the valves stick incessantly.

w00t w00t... go Holton... die mellophones!
Hmm... I wonder what our freshmen horns will be like next year... without our current one, there's not really a hard hand to rule the section. Then again... you're mean sometimes... "HEY! *STOMP* GET HERE NOW!" "Guys... listen to her. Common. GUYS! GUYS!... ah forget it..." "I SAID GET HERE NOW OR ELSE YOU SUFFER MY WRATH!" "What wrath?" "That's mean." "UHH! *STOMP*"

Uhh, if you just started yesterday, just about the only thing I can suggest is play whatever notes you can in your chromatic scale comfortably in long tones to build up your embouchure.

Yo. I play F horn. I think it's cool, but I eventually want to go for trumpet...however, since MY trumpet's valves are stuck tight, I'm happy with the F horn.
Oh, I just got back from a marching rehearsal that lasted 3 hours and 15 minutes. Fun. Region's tomorrow at my school's stadium, so there's a home-field advantage.
Any questions? I'm crazy.

We are going to get 9 horn players next year.... we will allready have 9..... so that will be 18 horns in one band!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOT!!! I'm so excited. I mean 19 is nothing compared to our 40 something trumpets and 60 something clarinets, but still it is more than the saxs

Still learning it, since I started actually thinking about playing it about six months ago.. but now our Band Director said I could switch to it for concert, and jazz band if I wanted. It's awesome though, because I know -no- notes on any instrument, since.. I'm used to playing drums. I think I got most of these down, though. I'll probably ask if I can practice in a back room today during band. sweatdrop But.. yeah. During pep band when I'm not playing the drumset (two drummers can, myself and my friend Justin), I'll play the Mellophone. Wee.

Your band director will let you play french horn in a jazz band?
That is so unfair because Mr. Joe only allows trumpets, trombones, and saxes. razz

I just saw the Army Band's brass quintet. It was so amazing!!! they sounded awesome, and were just hilarious. at one point they started playing "hose-ophones". they taped their mouthpieces to rubber hoses with funnels on the other end, played a full song, and their tone/pitch STILL sounded better then half our bands'. so awesome.
