IMPORTANT NOTICE
This post contains a responce rant (aka severe ownage). The elderly, people with certain heart conditions, and pregnant women are advised to skip ahead to where it is marked as safe to continue reading.
Thank you for your time.Since the only time I like to kick a man when he's down is when he keeps tripping over the stupidest things...
Ertai Vexic
Never the less Jello, history will repeat itself. What history? You and I don't have a history. You're a nothing, and I'm a never intended to be. The only minscule way that you matter to me is that I'm concerned of how you're being a
bad influence on everyone in the kiddy pool.
Did we have a rivalry of some sort? I didn't notice. You are to Gaia what the captain of the chess club is to highschool... you talk like a bigshot, but you really don't matter at all to anyone outside your little circle of like-minded friends.
*waves a hand at him* Begone, yon nerd.
Ertai Vexic
People like me are winners. We are the ones who climb the ranks and cut down all of you at the knees. ...wait... how short
are you? The knees? Only midgets go for the knees.
mad Ertai Vexic
I find it funny that you talk with so much wisdom and so much omnious knowledge like your someone that has seen it all and has been around for a long time. You talk like an elder looking at the youth. Funny thing is, you dont know anything beyond where you live. Like a little boy in the country, trapped from the rest of the world. Knowing nothing but trees and other people like you, never having the taste of what the world is like.
You speak from experience that is not there. You try to pull logic for which you have never seen nor fought against. So, in essence, you're saying that I'm not allowed to give advice unless I know what I'm talking about?
Well, that's a perfectly valid thing to say, except for the simple fact that, as we've already established, you know
absolutely nothing about me.
And I make it a point not to fling blind insults at people I don't know. If you've proven yourself to be a dipshit or an ignorant ********, you'll know it. If I have no idea who you are, I'm sure as hell not going to address you as "Hey! N00b in the corner!".
As it stands, allow me to respond to your insults in the appropriate matter. *Hits CTRL-C, then CTRL-V.*

Oh... s**t... you just shot yourself in the foot, didn't you you ignorant *********?
rofl *note: 'ignorant ********' is my new pet name for you, since you seem to think it's a good idea to say things without knowing what you're talking about.

Try your best combo of words and logic, it still doesnt change that you have no trump card to anything I say but the same broken logic that has no point in your words. Best combo of words and logic?
Let's try the one from about 45 minutes before you finished typing that post.
"Dark Samurai XGP: Ertai is back claiming superiority again. XD
Dark Samurai XGP: God, as much as I hatre him, he's fun to laugh at.
Dark Samurai XGP: He just needs a good a** whupping.
TheMightyJello: Yep. *snack*
TheMightyJello:  And in an hour or so, he'll make a responce that completely avoids any mention of fair play. It'll be noticable how out of the way he goes just to avoid having to talk about fairness.
Mark my words! :O
Dark Samurai XGP: I'm sure they'll ring true"

OKAY, KIDS, IT'S SAFE TO LOOK.Nihilistic_Impact
But I'm going to put a wager down that Ertai here DQs himself somehow.
Didn't he do that in HoH?
I dunno, I was on vacation at the time, so I didn't have to endure grading his fights.
Ryugi Kazamaru
In all truth I don't think he cares how unliked he is.
xd Negative attention, like a crying child, or Tom Green. There are two ways to get people to pay attention to you: either get them to like you, or get them to utterly despise you. Apparently the first one isn't really working too well...
xp @ Clash's rant: I agree with most of your points there, except for "why not just make up a spell/ability to make yourself immune to a certain type of attack?". I don't really agree with the 'I don't want to deal with it so I'll just negate it' style, and I know that you don't either because you specifically said so a paragraph later.
It's tricky business, it is.

So I can knock their characters out ASAP, so I can rub it in that they lost. So that's the only reason you're here? Do you even enjoy roleplaying or does all your pleasure come from belittling other people?
I'd be a fool to outright state that you'll never beat me, because, as I've said before, I don't really pay attention to a damn thing you write. Though from what I'm seeing, any victory you get in this tournament will be one you brag about for months or years, while everyone else will wonder why you're so proud of the fact that a 1400 lb bull trampled a 7 lb rooster in a cockfight.

This is a logic that I fail to grasp, so could someone explain it to me.
Showing your skill through different characters?
How can you make yourself seem shitty with one character but go
"Uhhh my good character would uber stomp you!"
I dont understand it because one characters talents is a projection of your rp and combat skills. So if you suck with one you suck with the others. Sure, I'll explain it.
Versatility.
Showing skill through different mediums. Maybe you're good with RPing swordfights, but are you good with fistfights? You can throw a punch, but can you kick? Are your spell moves interesting and creative, or bland and geared towards winning through brute force?
Characters have different fighting styles, just like people do, and they use the skills, weapons, and abilities that they know in order to make a combat style that is uniquely their own. I have dozens of different characters, and only a few of them fight in a very similar way to another one.
Likewise, one character's talents are not your talents. Just because you know how to RP something doesn't mean that a single character must embody all those things... if your character is a martial artist who's trained hand and foot for thirty years, they probably won't be able to fire a gun straight until they've practiced enough to compensate for recoil, bullet drop, and several other things.
To have a character that is good at
everything and held back only by your ability to bring that out through RP is the very essence of Mary Sue, isn't it?
Characters do things differently because they are their own person, if they are made well. I have one, Brutus, who's weapons are a blade and a heavy hammer... of course, his fighting style includes a lot of twisting, pivoting, and spinning to throw around the weight of that hammer. I have another who is actually in this tourney, Kenji, who is a trained swordsman; instead of spinning circles or bum rushing at opponents, he'll drop into a stance and make quick, accurate strikes. I have a mercenary, #387, who practices baton fighting and close range gunplay, but when unarmed will make attacks that are very direct, fast and forceful.
Each character has their own style of combat... some work better for you than others, some don't. As a general rule, the closer the character's style of combat is to the way that your mind tends to work, the better you'll be at RPing it... that doesn't mean that if you want to play with a fun character to entertain yourself, and you lose, then you just utterly suck at combat entirely.
Hell. I used SWORDCHUCKS at one point. It didn't really work too well, but I had fun with it.
biggrin As for "my uber character could-"... that's sort of the point, isn't it? Uber characters are described as 'uber' because they have all strengths and no weaknesses. They exist simply as killing machines.
I have a few of those, most of which aren't really 'uber' by FFA standards, but are beyond the limits that I wish to RP with... As for those, I don't allow them to participate in combat, and if someone wants to spar or mess around with them, they'll usually just joke around with it and then wander off somewhere.
Ertai Vexic, for like the millionth time,
JelloValyon
Jello, least use the whole message.
wink Nah, I'll take it out.
I was just reminded of how for a month or so I had a "place of honor" there for the most profoundly stupid things I came across, being replaced when someone said something worse...
'course, this was before I ever spoke to Ertai.

Ertai Vexic
What you call too much I call normal. If you want I can spit out a few 1000 word post and describe how the ashes fall from my cigar and throw in an attack while I do it. That's one thing worth mentioning.
As I've said, I haven't really seen/payed attention to anything you write... though of the few posts I
have seen, it almost seems like you're trying to hide the very fact that you're making an attack with the length of your post. Spend 3 pages on cigar ashes an then throw a sentence and a half about a side kick in there, followed by several paragraphs about shoelaces, and then just
hint at the fact that you rended the earth in twain with your mind.
If they don't notice it, it counts as a hit, right?
rolleyes

Watching it has actually done something almost completely alien to me. I want to create a swordsmen with TK abilities.
::nod:: I once had the inspiration to create a 90 lb shrimp as a brawler through TK abilities to enhance blows and buffer hits taken. 'course, in the RP Elevar had set up, the TK was limited to moving like 20 lbs or less... which really was more or less perfect for a small-scale thing like that.
Instead I opted out and went with a puppetmaster type.
