He moved away from the prince almost at once, returning to the space he had occupied before. He looked back at the prince and then stared dilliberately out the window in the carriage door. "I... don't know," he siad finally in a quiet voice, his cheeks slightly flushed. He had no idea what had made him do it. "I won't ever do it again..." he said in the same detatched voice. That one moment of contact between them had been enough to tell him that there was nothing between the two of them - that no matter how much he cared for the prince, his feeling would never be returned. It pained him, but from now on he would keep a respectful distance from the prince.

The dark haired man sighed, hoping to get the man back to the castle safely and leave with his cloak within the next 5 minutes. He could feel Peyton's glaring blue eyes on his back and it wasn't a pleasant feeling.

Pitching forward as the teen took hold of the front of his shirt, Haar quickly grabbed hold of the railing next to the apparently slippery steps while his hand tightened its grip on the back of the man's shirt. Attempting to keep both of them upright Haar steadied himself before wrapping an arm around the teen's waist, propping him to a standing position as quickly as he could with an exasperated sigh.

He felt the other's arm arround his waist - that grip and his sudden almost fall seemed to sober his and he shot bult up right. "Don't touch me," he said suddenly, slipping out of the man's grasp and moving to face the man. He brushed himself off, an expression of contempt and fear held in his eyes. He'd had bad experience with contact... he didn't want any more...

Haar took a careful step backwards before yanking his cloak off the teen with a solid tug. Folding it over his arm, the young commander frowned softly as he attempted to explain in an icey voice, "Well, excuse me, sir. I was simply trying to keep you from falling after having you pull you out of the road," he muttered, bright eyes darkening as snow continued to fall from the heavens, dotting his hair and dark clothes with specs of white.

"I'm suggest you go inside before you kill something," he said with a tense expression, fingers curled up around the handle of his sword as he turned around to finally return to his carriage.

Faryn couldn't prevent his jaw from dropping slightly in disbelief. "You don't know?" he asked incredulously. It was now clear to the petite prince that something was seriously up with Jillian. Neither of them had drunk much champagne. The other was risking frostbite one moment, slapping him the next, deserting him, and finally kissing him for a reason that he DIDN'T know?! "What do you want from me, Jillian? You're acting strangely!" he declared.

After a moment of seething quietly, he quietly spoke up. "Don't kiss me..." he began before staring angrily at the other, "If even you don't know what it's for."

Jillian heaved and sigh and rested his head in his hand, covering his eyes. "I told you, didn't I? I love you..." he said simply. He slouched over, not even trying to hide the emotional pain he was feeling. But he wouldn't cry. No... if nothing else, he would not allow himself to cry.

**

He stared back blankly at the man, eyes fixed unblinking on the other's. And then he was... turning away? He scowled and made a gesture with his hand. The wind suddenly picked up around him, the snow swirling in a blizzard around him as he was picked up. He was going home. Enough of this stinking party. But he had miscalculated and the wind took him not home, but to the Kingdom of Fire - an enemy Kingdom. The impact of landing knocked him out.

Faryn looked at Jillian as if the other had been taking crazy pills. For the first time since he was a small child, a genuine chuckle erupted from his lips. He shook his head before that chuckle actually became a full-out laugh. "Oh, Jillian," he said through his laughter. When the laughter died down, he shook his head again. "Believe me, Jillian. You don't love me. Maybe what I have or what I'll be, but not me," he stated before frowning, "I haven't given you any reason to love me. It's not possible."

Haar quickly made his way down the icy steps, wrapping his cloak around his shoulders. So much for helping people...

Slamming the carriage door shut, Haar muttered under his breath as he situated himself into a more comfortable position. Thankfully Peyton didn't ask any questions, staying silent as they started their journey home. Pulling his young apparentice close, Haar ran a gloved hand through light locks much to the appreciation of the boy, red eyes drifting outside to make sure they were going in the right direction.

Haar hoped they would be home soon...

Sayael sighed, watching Jillian leave. He turned back in time to catch Dax's eyes. He grinned sheepishly.

For some reason, Dax thought Sayael looked like a guilty cat proud of tearing something up, but in actuality, he may have helped the two in a sense. After both Faryn and Jillian had left, he strolled over to stand beside the remaining prince. "They definitely have one odd relationship," he stated. ".. What did you say to Faryn?"

"No... well... there's never a reason, is there?" Jillian smiled faintly but was thuroughly releaved when the carriage stopped and the door was opened. He remained sitting, courtessy demanding he let Faryn exit first.

**

Sayael shrugged. "Nothing much.... Just told him he victimised himself too much and assumed too much. He thought Jillian was out with one of them," he said, pointing to that group of giggling, over-talkative girls.

Faryn gave the other an odd look and raised an eyebrow. "There's always a reason if there's a purpose. People love me because of my power or the fact that I'll be the next king. People love you, I suppose, because you're... cultured and can be helpful in keeping the peace... " he rationalized, pausing as the door opened. He stepped down from the carriage and his dress shoes hit the pavement with a tap. The hood of his cloak was pulled down and he waited a moment for the other teen to exit the carriage as well. Once Jillian was up to speed, Faryn spoke up again. "Do you know why I'd rather not accept a spouse, Jillian?" He didn't wait for answer. "It's because love only exists in the pages of old books," he declared while he began walking up the steps of the palace. His tonal volume stayed low, "You say... you love me? I can't believe you're being true. I want proof." A sudden idea popped into Faryn's head and he smiled inwardly. "How about a deal? Would a bet interest you?" he asked.

He stepped out of the carriage carefully. He caught up with Faryn easily and listened as he spoke, bot voicing his own opinions. He frowned. "What sort of bet?" he asked curiously. How could he ever prove he loved Faryn? He had already nearly lost his arm on whim for the boy, and that wasn't proof?

Pools of black looked off to the side, noting the face of an onlooker from an upper balcony whom he would have to pay a visit to later. "If you can prove to me that you really love me... I'm not talking about this superficial nonesense, but actually would want to be with me until the end of your life because you care as much as you say you do.." he trailed off, trying to put together the very words he despised. The words he couldn't stand. It was all such gamble... and Faryn felt he was safe. They came out in a rushed undertone. "I'll marry you, Jillian." There was just one catch...

"The bet? ... You have to accomplish this before the new moon. Which gives you about 3 weeks, I believe."
PostPosted: Mon Jun 05, 2006 2:36 pm

He nodded. "And I'm guessing if I can't pull it off, I'm to never see you again?" He frowned. How could he possibly convince the other of that? And if he failed - seeing Faryn, being with him even like this, would be better than not seeing him at all. Three weeks. Just three weeks when he had no idea of what he could possibly do.

"I'll give you that pink, frilly dress Muertian presented me with earlier for trying, but yes, that's the idea. And if you do... for some entirely unavoidable reason, you'd be forbidden from communicating with me in any way," he matter-of-factly informed the older teen. He led the way up the stairs toward where Jillian had originally picked him up. "Think you're up to it?"
