Kolako LIVES

The shifting and tugging made the redblood stir a little, the blood seeping down her torn up jumpsuit, the furs on her coat making the redblood struggle some. It was a strange feeling, being lifted without knowing what was happening, exactly-- Was it Papi? It didn't feel like Papi, and Kolako didn't exactly have the strength to check. With no fur, however, the redblood felt a little tenser-- Definitely not Papi. But the smell was calming, relaxing, something rather familiar to her that she couldn't help but force her eyes open, just a little.

Seeing it was Nictor was only half the surprise-- The scream that came after was enough to jolt Kolako out of her sleep, muscles tensing immediately, body snapping up to watch a certain yellowblooded friend of hers flee in a rush of movement, bots following after him. With a struggled breath, the brownblood managed to stand up, feeling some of her energy back. Remembering what'd just happened, the redblood felt her cheeks dust with a little brown, feeling embarrassed that the meek Nictor had to help her. It wasn't that she was ungrateful-- She was thankful for it, definitely, but the fact that her own lusus wasn't around to do it made the brownblood feel awkward, strange. Papion was always there. What'd happened?

The lion had gone a little behind, to scout and check if the coast was clear to go back down-- But when he returned, the redblood stared at Papi and pointed ahead. "Vamonos, Papi." She said firmly-- No games. She wasn't leaving. Papi growled, mentioning her leg, but she shook her head, interacting with her guardian in a firm and dedicated way. She wasn't leaving, she needed to help. She and Mera were some of the only ones that new the code. She hadn't seen many of the others, and she didn't know how ahead they'd gotten, but...

      She needed to be there.

She had a responsibility to Alternia.

Before Papion could say anything, she pushed forward, rushing the way Nictor left. After a few minutes of seeing her struggle, the redblood was suddenly lifted by a large force, pushed onto the back of her large lusus. Koko giggled, patting him firmly before pointing ahead-- "Let's go!" She called out, and Papion continued.

Within seconds, the yellowblood was within sight. "EYYyyyyYYyy!! Nictor!!" She exclaimed loudly, waving an arm with a wide smile spreading across her face. He'd helped her. So she'd help him!

She saw her roomie start to sag. "Perore...? No, no, don't you do this, too." Mera stated, firm and unmoving. Not another troll, not on her watch. She was prepared to pull Forera out of the abyss if she had to just so no one else had to go down.

Perore came back, though. Just a moment, that's all it was. Good. Mera could work with that. "You're so strong," she murmured. But, like Leeroi's problem, fiery. Too fiery. She hadn't fallen yet, though.

"Okay, just...a little more. I think. I hope. After so many stairs," she let out a tired chuckle. "I don't know how many more stairs I can deal with."

Nictor is healing Luxara with a Novice Support Trinket A!

Quote:

Heals another troll by half their maximum HP, 1x per battle.

Uses left overall: 2/3

Nictor did his best to steer Bee through the hall, away from the droids leaping after them. All the swerving and ducking, while second nature to Beehemoth, was making him a bit woozy, considering his battered state. The two diverted their path down a side hall, temporarily losing the droids as they angrily skittered past.

Taking a chance for a breather, Bee landed, still not feeling amazing. Nictor hummed and rubbed soothingly at Bee's fluff, clambering down off his lusus to get a better look at Bee. Except when he got down he saw that same greenblood adult from before hiding in this same alcove, presuably to avoid being over run.

If Nictor had been able he would have leapt out of his skin. As it were he wavered on his feet slightly and stared. Nictor almost ducked away but he couldn't help but notice the way the adult held herself spoke of her fatigue and injuries. Maybe it was having just spent the past couple hours watching over Kolako, maybe it was that rare moment of bravery earleir still lingering, or maybe it was exhaustion, but he scooted forward a bit, rummaging in one of his pockets for something.

Pulling out the device, Nictor pondered it a moment. Maybe he should have tried to wake Kolako up so he could use this on her? What a great assist he'd been. Damn.

Well, the greenblood was the one that needed help this time. They all needed help, he didn't doubt.

Cautiously but quickly, Nictor applied, feeling tense the whole time he had to stand so close to the adult and when he was done healing her, he skittered back to Bee.

"I-I ho---pe th-that helped," Nictor said, blinking back at where the greenblood was. Nictor could hear the droids skittering back this way, intent on finding their targets and Bee might have freaked out and taken off before Nictor could say anything else, to busy clinging for his life. The two sailed into the main hallway again except the droids were covering the walls. Well this was bad.

Nictor's eyes went wide then he saw droids clinging feebly to Bee's fluff and trying to climb up towards his neck.

Nictor, like Bee, was feeling battered and tired and was ready for every froid and trollbot to please junk itself. Clinging tightly in a likely painful hold, Nictor swung a leg down and punted one of the droids off Bee's fluff. Before he could boggle at his own audacity, he began slipping when Bee swerved again.

Yelping, he scrambled back up but almost lost his balance again when there was an increasingly familiar call of his name.

Looking up, Nictor was met with the sight of brave and lively Kolako, grinning as she rode atop her giant lion lusus. Smears of grit and blood made the duo a more fearsome sight as they charged down the hall towards him. Oh man, was she mad about something? Nictor didn't think she'd be smiling so bright and trying to wave him down if she was. Angry or not, those two were bounding with purpose and a fifteen foot lion bearing down on anyone, friendly or not, is probably gonna be at least a little terrifying.

Nictor almost slipped again and stopped staring dumbly in surprise. He hadn't expected Kolako to get up this soon, she seemed pretty out of it, but he had sat there with her for a while. Maybe that had been enough for her to get a second wind. That was one worry assuaged though. He glanced back at her and a small smile worked it's way onto his face, almost unbidden. He was happy she was awake though.

It was weird, but not in a bad way.

The droids shattered and fled under Papion's charge, carving a swathe through the horde until eventually, all but the stragglers remained to get broken.

With the danger gone, Nictor gave the okay and Bee fairly well flopped on the ground, exhausted. Both he and Nictor looked a bit of a mess, with fly away hair pulled loose from his braid and matted from sweat. Both had smears of yellow blood staining them and one of Nictor's sleeves and a shoe were torn open, making him look more haphazard than usual. They both felt like wrecks too, to be fair. Nictor was stressed and tired and Nictor had been feeling a bit vancant and absent minded, like he wasn't really in his body, for a while now.

Nictor breathed a sigh of relief as the last of the droids scuttled away. Small blessings. He'd be happy if he never saw another droid for as long as he lived, those things were a menace. Turning to Papion, he looked up to see Kolako on her perch.

"T-thanks," he said. Nictor took the chance to look over her and Papion's state and found them to be decently haggard, but still standing strong and firm. It didn't surprise Nictor though, he would think at this point that Kolako and Paion could handle themselves well enough. Still though. "A-a-are you o-okay?" Nictor asked, biting his lip nervously. She was awake and riding Papion, wasn't she? She should be fine. But she'd been passed out for a while and he'd been worried that she wasn't going to wake up and the bomb would go off and they'd all be buried and die and she wouldn't even have a chance to escape.

Kolako is moving RIGHT.

On the way, Papion had somehow managed to step on a yellow tile, making the furry feline explode into a large puff ball. Kolako felt the electricity course through her like wildfire, shocking her very being. Kolako shook it off, however, her curly hair becoming a singular ball of puff around her head. Honestly, Kolako didn't mind-- Her body was okay, hair came later! Papion didn't stray from his path, continuing and running right into the bots, electrifying a few with the shocks still in his fur and catching the attention of a few others, running into the lusus. Papi simply swatted at them all, playing with a few almost like a cat with mice. Kolako slid off, and with a wide grin, she giggled at the yellow kid with a grateful expression. With no explanation or response, the brownblood simply reached to hug him, before yelping and flailing backwards-- She hadn't realized she was so shocking! She'd somehow managed to shock them both!

She stood dazed for a few seconds before settling with a shoulder pat, releasing a nervous giggle. "Bien! I'm great! Thank you so much for before, jejeje!! We gotta keep moving, though! Nunca sabras-- You never know whats to come!!" She exclaimed eagerly, pointing ahead with a smile and continuing on. "Let's go!"

Luxara is going right!

HP: 19/40
DMG: 2 +2 =4

Luxara stopped along her way. Not proud of it, but she needed a breath. Maybe, uh, well, maybe this wasn't the best idea. Now they were all separated, and she was on a wild honkbeast chase. Cool! Awesome. Swing and a miss.

Luxara sighed as she straightened up. "God I feel like s**t."

And then she...didn't? Something had touched her, she knew the feeling. Luxara whirled around, seeing a yellowblood scuttle away. Had Nictor...? God, had he healed her? No no no, she needed that for the others! But the kid had gone out of the way to heal her, as bad as everything was.

She gave him a thumb's up. "Thanks kid." At least now she knew she could run back. "There're lasers n' stuff ahead. Stay safe!"

The distant, hazy voices drifted through and around the skeleton of the tower. They were the first thing Sascha became aware of as he regained consciousness. For a disturbing few minutes, he believed he'd died. Eventually the pain dragged Sascha back into the waking world. He registered the cold concrete pressed against his face, and the stickiness of clotted wounds binding his clothes to his filthy body. Sascha groaned. The darkness of the room helped stave off the pulsing headache building between his eyes. However, he also appeared to be lying across a field of broken light bulbs.

He peeled himself off the floor, careful to move only one joint at a time. When he made it onto his knees, he looked around. The droids were gone--well, the ones still capable of moving. He'd managed to reap quite a bit of carnage before passing out, he noted with no small amount of pride. The room was dimly illuminated by the reflections off robotic shrapnel. Sascha couldn't hear any of their creaky, uneven footsteps down the hall either. He could, however, continue to make out the sounds of oncoming trolls, and a lot of them. Reinforcements. Sascha sighed. The relief buoyed him into a standing position, where he wobbled for a moment before steadying. He had to wait for the blood to rush back to his head. He could do this. He could keep going.

s**t, wait, wasn't there a bomb around here!?

Sascha rolls for a Second Wind!

You arrive at another dead end. Drat! As you turn to limp back, you notice a door set into one of the walls sits ajar, and from inside the room comes the humming of machinery. Well, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, so you push open the door and peer inside.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

The room beyond is large, industrial-scaled and filled with powerful generators, rumbling away. A switchboard hangs open on the wall, which could probably be used to kill the generators, and along with that, any electronics running in the construction site, including machines that might be controlled by say, an out of control artificial intelligence. If it were shut down, perhaps all the other trolls in the building would be able to advance safely to the room, without fear of more diabolically stupid traps getting in the way. Of course, this is just speculation, but you feel that turning it off might be a really, really, really, really good idea, just saying. You saying, to yourself.

On the floor by one of the large generators sits an unassuming black box with a flat screen display showing a timer on it. While five of its sides are smooth and black and matte, a sixth has various wires running out and around. From a glance, you can spot a green wire, a black wire, a yellow wire, a red wire, a blue wire, and a teal wire. Huh. You're certain you have no idea at all what to do with those. In troll tv and movies, you can usually disarm mysterious devices by cutting the right wires in the right order, but what are the chances of you being able to do that.

Apart from that, the room seems empty enough, where it's not crowded by the running machines.

Rianon had just been getting bored of climbing up and up, not that she was doing the majority of the work. Still her and Crowma had made quite the team so far, and she'd commend her brilliant lusus on all she'd done for her later.
As the witch contemplated things, another dead end appeared in front of them. "O'course," she muttered. Luckily the observant little girl caught a cracked door from the corner of her eyes.
Stepping in she was overwhelmed with all the machinery. She couldn't tell heads from tails about most of it, but it didn't take an engineer to guess what all those levers did. "Night, night, you monstrous pain in the toosh," Ri said in a sing-song voice as she very quickly heaved all the levers off, praying to Alternia that it would indeed turn this madhouse off.

The ticking box in the corner though...that was a whole different story. "HEY EVERYONE, GET YER GREY BUTTS HERE PRONTO!" she hollered, hoping some trolls were close enough to hear her.

Sephos Arbola
HP: 0/40

Second wind attempt...
Nope, but whatever, crawling UP

Sephos awoke, not because of a sound, but a sudden... lack... of sound. That was the only way he could describe it.

In the forest, sudden silence was a sign of danger. The animals of the wood respected strength and size, and attuned as Sephos was to his home, he had learned to be wary at these times... and ready to be awed.

Maku stirred. THe treebeast had managed to tap into it's energy stores and restore itself somewhat. Weakened, battered, but not beaten, the treebeast roused itself. Sephos was jostled by the movements, and bit back a cry. Maku hummed in drowsy curiousity. What, he wondered, had happened?

The treebeast began to move, slowly at first and then more steadily, forward...

Something was calling him.

Poeias Claudy & Lanata
HP: 0/40

The silence between him and Mahmud seemed to last forever. Poe's pumpbiscuit beat hard, waiting for a response. Before it came though, it was suddenly much darker than it had been to the greenblood just a moment ago. The power went off. The absence of the insistent humming made Poe's spongeclots ring. He hated that feeling. His chest felt tight, but he knew someone had disarmed the AI. That meant... "It's safe! We can get out of here, or go, or something!" he said. He grabbed Mahmud's hands in his, lingering for a moment before he said anything. "I... I can explain later," he whispered. "We should go."

Akkira had caught her breath in time to hear the shouting of Rianon, not a voice she could ever forget now and it gave her what seemed to be a new serge of energy which she used to run in the direction she heard the voice. "Ri! where are you???" the young redblood shouted, her voice echoing in the now quiet halls of the tower.

Hemera is going up!

She had lost Leeroi. Kolako. Even Perore had nearly fallen. Hemera herself was ready to collapse. She panted, she wheezed, she could barely keep a grip on her boomerang. But she couldn't! Give up! Just, please, no more dead ends... Hemera only paused when she heard a voice float from down the hall, not long after the place went...oddly quiet. The bomb? Maybe it was? Someone might have gotten there and disarmed it?!

"Perore. We need to go!" She mustered what little strength she had left and booked it. Mera ran to what looked like another, final dead end, but- a door! Someone left a door open! She shoved in, and squeaked to a halt at the size of the area. Who could hide such a large space?

She shook her head. Not the time for that. She noticed the greenblood nearby. "Did you find this place?" she asked, breathless. Impressive! Very impressive. "Is there- Is there..." She was so tired. "Is there anything else in here?" Mera sagged to the ground, soon sitting. Her entire everything hurt.

To call Leeroi a mess was a total understatement. His ruined robot arm had been wrecking his body to the point he had ripped it from its socket, and the numerous cuts and blunt trauma were enough to completely exhaust him. Still he carried on, a bit confused, running in circles with only Hemera's blood trail to follow. At least, he assumed it was Hemera's.

Busting through the door, he laughed at the sight of Hemera. Good, they were gathering a team to disassemble the bomb! Leeroi clapped Mera on the shoulder and gave her a light shake. With a thumbs up and a wink, Leeroi addressed the tealblood with a simple question.

"Alright, what do we do now?"

Nictor is going up!

Nictor blinked owlishly when Kolako slid off of Papion and went for a hug. Of course, neither had been expecting that zap from the leftover static, but really, Nictor should have seen that coming. It happened with Bee enough over the cycles for him to be familiar with it. Nictor only cringed a little when she went for a shoulder pat, though that was more so a reaction to what if there's another shock? Nictor gave a shy smile, feeling all kinds of strange that she had thanked him for helping her. He'd thought she was out, but apparently she somehow knew he'd tried to help keep the droids off her prone form.

He could still feel the pressure on his shoulder as her hand dropped and Kolako turned to lead them down the hall.

"R-right," Nictor answered. Right, they were still in this hellish steel trap, even if Nictor had lost grasp on it for a second there, distracted by the whirlwind that was Kolako.

Reality crept back in and the budding strange and worm feeling evaporated back to the stressed numb sensation Nictor had fallen into. Nictor's attention quickly reverted back to focusing on Beehemoth and his sorry state. Nictor clutched onto his lusus's fluffly, trying to encourage the buzzbeast to keep going with comforting chitters and small tugs. Bee was exhausted, with the acrid scent of burnt fur following him and welts, bruises, and cuts littering his mass. Nictor hadn't gotten by completely unscathed either, considering how often he tripped about, but Bee had shielded him from every dumb trap he'd walked into.

Nictoe wanted to go home. He wanted Bee at home. He wanted them both unscathed and curled up in a soft blanket fort where it was safe.

Nictor looked Beehemoth over, as much of him as he could see from where Nictor had pressed up against Bee's side and flinched. A nauseating worry churned in his stomach at the sight and he clutched tighter to his lusus.

Nictor's head whipped around in the direction of the call, now audible and almost ominous in the empty quiet hallways of the space tower. His braid whipped around with the motion and smacked him in the face, distracting him for a moment to rub at his stinging eye, but was still looking in the direction of the call.

Was that where they were supposed to be going?

"S-should we g-go there?" Nictor asked purposely. Of course they would head towards the noise after everything else went off. That meant real living trolls, not the ai and robot assailants they'd been dealing with. Maybe. Probably. Hopefully.

Well, either way, they needed out of this tower before something terrible happened, like the power restarted. Nictor wanted Bee out and away and safe. He really hoped whoever it was was friendly.

Slowly but surely they made their way through the halls and found an open doorway with some faint lights and what seemed to be a gathering of other battered and tired trolls. Nictor kept back a bit, surveying them nervously. No one looked to be in too good of shape, and this wasn't even an exit.

Of course, then his eyes landed on the bomb and he just kind of stared blankly. That. That was the thing that was going to blow up and kill them all. And they're all just... standing around it? Nictor was going rigid, leaning up against his lusus in this attempt to both hide himself and somehow manage to impossibly hide Beehemoth. Bee couldn't take a blast like that, not in this state, not if what Nictor's minor knowledge about bombs was in any way right.

Well, this was bad.
