 Saiga GirikoSaiga had an incredibly close call there with the trumpeter...A demon being sacrificed to save her from her grisly fate.
She wanted to look back and figure out who had saved her...But, the powerful force of Trumpeter made that kind of impossible at the moment.
Rather, she started around the area again, seeing a small demon trapped under some rubble. It wasn't until after she lifted up on it did she realize part of the demon WAS the rubble...an earthen demon buried...But, appreciating the help.
A light jab from the girl later, a fist-bump to mark their friendship...And Saiga had a new companion to blast enemies with.

 Youmu KonpakuYoumu glanced up as she saw a single demon hobbling towards a path...And trailed it a short ways.
While the demon was of little note, what it was going after caught her eye...the battered form of her Senior friend.
"Ah...!" she sounded..before seeing him dip through the Amala network. "Oh..he's probably headed back now."
She paused for a few moments, taking out the demon with a slash, before starting down herself, heading through the winding maze of a path.

Something that he had a lot of practice with, but was getting a bit tired of.
"Hmm Hmm....I wonder if I'll get to see something amazing soon.." he mused, turning towards where he thought the Trumpeter was. It was starting to get late....So, if they were going to kill him...

Minori Koroko  "It's okay to cry... to scream...to be angry..." The blond held him even tighter, her voice broken, her lips trembling. She wanted to spare him this pain...she hadn't wanted this. "It is also okay not to do any of those things. If you want to be alone... I will give you your space. But know that I am here...and I won't be going anywhere." Right now he needed that support...even if at times, being alone was the only thing someone wanted. Having someone there...just their presence was enough. It had been like that for her. Soji had been there for her back then...back when her parents had...died, Soji had been by her side. It had been a long process...and even now, there was still that scar in her heart that ached at nights when she was feeling homesick. It would never go away... that pain.
"If you want me to stay here...then I won't go anywhere. Genji..." she shifted on her place...sliding in front of him, taking his hands in hers. "Genji... I am so...so sorry. Love, I wish...it hadn't happened like this." The girl lowered her eyes, her thumb brushing over the back of his hand gently, so tenderly. "Right now... we can only...give them a proper ...farewell. It is the least we can do." After that...they had to keep moving. But...she'd give him his time. She couldn't take that away from him.

 Nix Gallen Nix tried to follow after Soji after she had seen him across the wreckage. He was alive but something about him just seemed.. troubled. So she had to try and cheer him up! That's what friends were for and he would do the same for her. Though before she could get close enough, a powerful demon had gotten in her way. The worst part was that Nix couldn't run from this fight, it would only chase her and Soji would get dragged into it too.. So as she fought against the foe, another demon came around and she was able to gain it's aid. This was happening quite a bit actually. Despite her apparent luck with recruiting, it seemed that she lacked that luck when it came to catching her friends. There was no sign of Soji once the foe was disposed of. Nix Gallen This wasn't fair, it simply wasn't fair.. Nix was alone again and now she wasn't sure if Minori and Genji would be at his home still. She told them that she would find Soji and find them. How was she supposed to go back and tell them shat she had found him but lost him too? She just had to keep searching though and pray the others were safe and sound.. Well as safe as one could be in this new world order. As the silverette walked through town, she was surrounded by demons but her own made quick work of them all. "...You see the surface, but my eyes see more..."It was more painful than he could have imagined, but it couldn't be avoided. Sitting in the ruins of his house last night, it had gotten dark enough that the only option for survival that night was to camp out in the ruins of what had once been his home. What remained of the walls of the Main Wing was the best defense they would get against any intruders; badly as sitting there, remembering what those demons had said twisted his gut into inconsolable knots, he also couldn't have brought himself to leave the ruins just yet even if he wanted to. It was just...too personal, too dear to him, living within this place for so long only to see it reduced to this. And so he slept that night, never quite separating himself from Minori but shifting to encompass her tightly in his arms all the same, and though he knew he should have been alert to watch for danger...there was no energy, no will in him that night to do so. So he slept, and as he slept he dreamed of a world in which none of this had happened...when he had been at home, with family, with Minori, living happily and talking about little, silly things...like his latest date, trying to stop her from seeing baby pictures, and about his grandfather, the lessons he had taught to his only grandson. It made the pink-haired heir smile...
...But then it had faded, the white light of Conception swallowing the world and reducing it all into dust and ruin, his parents' bodies disintegrating into bone and dust, and at the center of it all, the only ones who remained were he and Minori, and she was nearly slipping through his fingers into the abyss that slowly crept in. He held her hand tightly, pulling her towards him...and just as she slipped through and cried out his name, he jerked awake where he lay, beads of sweat rolling down his body as he looked up into the morning sky and realized that a new day had dawned.
A new day, but was it one that he wished to greet? He sighed...unsure, but sure of only one thing anymore. He wanted...needed to protect this girl, to do for her what he could after she had stood beside him, slept beside him, held him when he thought he had nothing else in the world at all. For her alone, if nothing else...he would survive. He would fight.
And he knew, somewhere in his heart, his family would have wanted him to.

"Show me a hero, and I will write you a tragedy"He hadn't made it out to Genji's house, even though that had been the goal when he made his way back from the Inn last night. Things in the town had gotten...complicated after he stopped into the Liquor Store, with demons roaming the streets in massive packs, fighting one another lead by generals who did not seem to notice the single human presence peeking out of the shattered windows and the slightly-ajar door just to the side of the road. Soji was grateful for that, as he hadn't been in the mood for a life-or-death battle of that magnitude, figuring that someone of his bounty would be enough to turn the two fighting forces towards a temporary alliance to take him down. Or at least, that was the impression that he had gotten form everything he encountered thus far that knew he had a Candelabrum in his possession. There was no way he could fight an entire army of demons on his own, no matter how much stronger he had gotten with these devils under his control. He needed more experience, more time, more training, and even then, the smart thing was to avoid battles wherever he could to hold onto his stamina for the tougher battles that lay ahead. One Fiend was down, one Candelabrum in the possession of Obelyn Cernunnos, but another Fiend that both carried a Candelabrum and bore the name of 'Bel' was ready to lead the Forces of Hell against them today, regardless. It was almost as if they were telling them that killing the first one didn't matter at all.
He sighed as he awakened in the small back office of the Liquor Store, deciding quickly as he took a sip of the last Cielo Mist what his next play was going to be. Did he stay here and look for the others, or did he check out another city and look for answers. Judging by the hint that the Red Viper had given them, the most likely spot to encounter Belzaboul was going to be in Iwatodai...but that didn't always mean it was the only place. And there was somewhere else that he wanted to check out first, an instinct leading him there in spite of how out of the way it might have seemed.
"All right, today...Okina City," he spoke to himself as he pulled out the Candelabrum and let that sinking feeling begin to take over, "Tomorrow...the world!"

Minori Koroko She hadn't dared sleep. She couldn't have been able to do so even if she had tried. The sun had gone down and they had taken cover on what was left of the Main Wing of the ruins that once had been the Amagai Estate and she couldn't lower her defenses in case more demons were to appear. She knew he wouldn't want to leave just yet...and she wasn't about to press him to move on, but...she needed to be prepared, just in case. He was in no position to fight right now... he needed time, he was tired and in pain and she just wanted to let him rest. he deserved as much. And so, she let him sleep, his arms surrounding her so tightly, her fingers brushing soothingly through his hair.
They spent the night in silence, Minori looking up to the sky in search of any remains of stars she recognized...only to find darkness and smoke and a deep sense of despondency. She could hear cries in the distance, see the fires closer to town...demons never seemed to rest. It sent a shiver down her spine...and instead, she focused her gaze upon Genji's sleeping one. In sleep, he looked so frail, so tired...and it almost broke her heart. There was a serene air about him despite all though... as if he could find some kind of solace in his dreams. Her own exhaustion made itself noticeable to the girl then...the silence and the stillness reminding her of her aching muscles, her throbbing wounds, her drained spirits...Her vision blurred for a moment, and the girl jerked back up when she felt her body relaxing, her head bobbing in a drowsy haze.
Maybe... she could...rest her eyes only for a minute.
Only for a minute.
...
His light moans and tensed movements in his sleep woke the blond, her hand resting on his cheek as he startled himself awake, a haunted look on his eyes. A bad dream... She could only imagine what had been going through his mind. "Hey..." Minori whispered, her fingertips brushing his cheek before retreating back to her lap. " How are you feeling? Do you need anything? I am here..."

"...You see the surface, but my eyes see more..."He instantly felt guilty for having woken her from her sleep, but there was nothing he could do about that now. Letting out a small breath, he found it hard to swallow the guilt and anger that he felt...not really about that, but about what had happened to his family, what had happened to the world, and his own lack of ability to stop it. It was hard to look at her knowing that all he had lost, he couldn't stop it...and if one day, the same fate should nearly befall her, not knowing that he had the strength to protect her from it, too. But he couldn't ignore the worry in her voice, the comforting, gentle touch of her hand on his shoulder, and in spite of himself he forced the corner of his lips to curl into the tiniest of smiles. Nodding his head once, he had already resolved not to tell her about how he had sneaked out of the ruins of his home last night to hunt down the Trumpeter after the Red Viper's message. It wasn't like he had been able to land the finishing blow on that one, anyway. In the end, the most unassuming girl of all had done it, and he supposed it was more appropriate that way. He was impressed by her, by the others who had fought, but missing that catharsis that he so desperately needed, he found himself slumping back home and falling asleep beside the blonde quietly. Now, with the morning come, his emptiness was only matched by his desire to protect her.
To do that, for now, he needed to move. He needed things to be all right, and for her to know that they were. She couldn't be focusing solely on him if she was going to stay alive. And so he forced that smile and took her hand for just a moment, slowly rising in the ruins of his former life and looking out into the ruined sky peering out into the town beyond.
"I am fine..." he told her, forcing enough steel into his voice that even if she knew it wasn't true...she could hear that he was trying, "...we need to search for your family this morning. And reunite with Gallen-senpai and Soji-senpai. If the enemies are only going to become stronger, then they likely won't be able to survive on their own. Even Soji-senpai..."Quote: 31 Tokens

Nix Gallen The first day of this hell on earth was utterly exhausting for Nix and every other survivor out there. Though with the combined efforts of the others, the first major demon had fallen. That only meant that a worse foe was lingering out there somewhere, waiting for its chance to destroy them. Well the silverette wasn't going to let that happen! She was going to help bring the world back to its former self. Though when Nix woke up in her desolate home, it just reminded her that she was by herself for now. She needed to reunite with the others and her brother if he was still out there. As soon as the teenager left the safety of the house, a small group of demon jumped out to attack but didn't last very long against her. After the demons were defeated, Nix decided to fuse some of her demons to gather some power. "...You see the surface, but my eyes see more..."It had taken some effort, and without Minori there beside him, he wasn't sure he would have had the strength to do it, but at last as the morning passed and the early afternoon began to rise in the sky, Genji stepped beyond the ruins of his house and back out onto the road which would eventually lead them back into the town of Inaba at large. He didn't look back at his house once he was out of it, not wanting to remember it the way that they had found it last night...instead, he wanted to remember it how it was before the event, before the destruction, before the bad memories had tried to taint and replace so many of the good ones. He hadn't even had the stomach to go out to the Grove and have a look at what must have happened there. Judging by the burned trees, Throne hadn't left much of anything that was worth seeing, anyway. And as gluttonous as its companion liked to act, any life that was out in the trees and the river had probably already been devoured. It was a wasteland back there, a landscape truly reminiscent of the end of days. But the end hadn't actually come yet, had it? Just because the world was destroyed didn't mean it was over, right?
In spite of all that had happened, he was still here. And so was Minori. And so was Soji-senpai, Gallen-senpai...and that had to mean something, didn't it? As long as they were alive, there was a hope for the future. There was a hope that they could put the pieces of this world back together, find the power to restore the world to the way it was, or something...something! He had to believe that such a thing was possible, or else he would go insane entirely.
He couldn't...would not give up. No matter what happened. That was what his family would have wanted...right?
