Mishka chuckled, finding her bashful hair touching rather endearing. Luci's little throat clearing caught his attention, drawing his eyes downward to meet the little girls with a curious look. "I promise I will not keep your mother long," Mishka said, assuming the little one was tired of sharing her mothers attention. After all, he imagined Liv had been very busy that evening dancing and overall being adored by her many friends at the Order. "I know it is late and I'm sure you are both quite tired from such wonderful party. You must be quite loved, Ms. Liv."
He paused, fdigiting with the box in his other hand, which he soon produced for the young woman to open. Inside the box was a rather lovely silver hand mirror, etched with raised roses around the handle and the back. "I bring small trinket. I am afraid I am not very good at choosing gifts, but I hope you can enjoy or find useful. If your smile can so easily cheer all of your comrades, I thought perhaps you should see it yourself more often. Happy birthday, dear friend."

"Ah," she said, seeming satisfied with his explanation, finding it almost endearing to imagine Kyle doing something as human as dancing with his grandmother. Considering how often she had considered kicking the hell out of him he had lost some of his humanistic qualities when she thought of him at passing, and for some reason she found it nice to know that he wasn't a total clod. He had a family somewhere he probably loved and respected more than his idiot persona gave hint to. "Well, your grandpa wasn't wrong. Even I can tolerate you a little more when dancing is involved."
As for her mistake with the states, she flushed a little, feeling bad she had gotten her stated mixed up after Kiah had told them where her and Kyle had originated from. "Oh, sorry," she murmured with a woeful purse of her lips. "I really forget most of those states in the middle... Anything between New York and California is just one big blur of... Plains and forest for me, really... And I've been here in Europe for so long that I hardly remember what it was like living in the States."

"..Actually, Mommy only danced once tonight, and she just spent a long time playing a game with me. I'm not even tired~" she set her cup down on the table behind them and turned back around to finally give Mishka a hug, jumping on him a bit, "You look handsome tonight Mr. Mishka~"
Liv blinked down at Luci as her attention was finally called away from the handsome doctor, "Well, she's right..," she laughed and little and reached to brush the girl's curls as she leapt to hug Mishka. As he fidgeted a bit and soon held the box out to her, she first marveled at the flowery paper it was made from. That alone was enough to light her eyes up with a little sparkle, and she looked at him with a shake of her head.
"You really didn't have to...," she reached and touched his arm gently for a second before looking back at the box and opening it. Just as his mysterious hint at what the gift was left his lips, she shifted the lid and saw the ornate hand mirror. A soft noise of surprise left her lips and the smiled more, "It's...really..really gorgeous, Mishka."
She didn't lift it from the box, but she let her fingertips touch the etched roses and filigree. She stared at it for a long time, the smile never leaving her lips. When she finally closed the box again and set it down, she took the opportunity to step in and wrap her arms around his neck. Giving him the gentle embrace she had been holding back, she squeezed him and couldn't help leaning against him for a few seconds. When she finally pulled back, she stopped short to peck his cheek softly, speaking the only words she could manage, "..Thank you."
Luci had been clinging to Mishka the entire time as she watched Liv open her present, grinning at the sight of the mirror, "So pretty~" She only let go of the man when it was clear that Liv was moving in to hug him, quickly getting out of the way. She watched them for a second and giggled to herself before slipping away to oogle at the mirror some more.

(( My laptop JUST fits on my desk, so I can't exactly put anything else on it. XD I should probably clean it sometime... those candy bars next to me are probably six months old by now... LOL ))
"Of course he wasn't wrong! That man was a genius when it came to women... I made sure to actually take notes whenever we'd go to visit him," Kyle nodded, the look on his face indicating that he was completely serious. He made sure to give her a charming smile once she had finished, moving his hand slightly. "Does that mean I can go a little lower~?"
Raising his eyebrow in confusion, he simply shrugged it off, not knowing why she was apologizing for her little slip up. "It's really not that big of a deal. All of the states that are big on farming kind of look the same anyway, if you don't know them that well. Honestly, the big city states all looked the same to me when I passed through them."

"Now that is a shame." Mishka's tongue clicked against the roof of his mouth, head shaking slowly as if Liv dancing only once that evening was comparable to a tragedy. He knelt to give the little one a full arm bear hug. "We cannot let her have just one dance on her birthday, can we? And thank you, for handsome compliment. Means much coming from such beautiful young lady." He winked at Luci teasingly, giving her an affectionate finger-to-nose tap.
However, when Luci unwound from him and Liv bestowed the gift of her thanks upon him, his cheeky smile softened into something much more meaningful. As he returned the embrace with one of his own, he reveled--not for the first time, either-- how nice it would be to hold her delicate little body to his in a much more intimate embrace. The feel of her soft lips ghosting against his cheek did not help his mindset shift elsewhere. He kept his composure admirably, clearing his throat lightly as he thanked God that the cool night air was drafting into the ballroom to cool the heat she had brought to his skin. "It is nothing... Nothing at all..."
As they pulled apart, his hands slid gently down her arms, not letting her too far from his reach. "May... I have this dance...?" He asked a little hesitantly, despite that his plan to dance with her had been announced long ago with Luci, he was still afraid she would not oblige. "I will save second dance for lovely Lady Luci, of course... if her dance card is not filled."

Liv felt the tiniest shiver as his hands ghosted along her arms, goosebumps rising on her skin. She too was glad for the breeze, especially as it would be a good excuse should he ever notice the goosebumps. She smiled at his polite request and gently took his hand, wishing for a moment that she had chosen not to wear gloves tonight. "You don't even have to ask," she replied softly and only took her eyes off him long enough to turn her head and signal Luci to go back to the table and wait for them to finish dancing. When she looked back around again she shot Mishka another smile before pulling him out to the dance floor. The current music was a delightful medium tempo, and she slipped into the proper position before waiting for him to take the lead, "I'm really glad you could make it to the party."
Luci made sure to let Mishka know her dance card was most certainly not full before her mother took him away to the floor. Doing as she was told, she went back to the table they had been using all evening and climbed up on one of the chairs to watch Liv and Mishka dance. Thought she was still a young girl, she dreamed of the day a young man would be leading her around the dance floor in such away.

Mishka did take the lead, a helpful hand touching between her shoulders and the small of her back in a gentle yet firm guiding touch. He wasn't the most confident of dancers, but he was able to maneuver himself around the dance floor without hurting anyone else and to him that was a success. "Of course," he murmured, finding no reason to talk loudly when the two of them were so close. "I could not miss party of dearest friend... and truthfully patient have sent me on strict order to wish you happy birthday as well... and bring them cake," he smiled wryly, swaying around the dance floor with the young woman."I may be out of job if I do not return with cake."

She swallowed a little as his hand alighted on her back and he began to lead them around the floor. Though he wasn't as perfectly skilled as Tyki used to be, she found the difference welcome; She didn't have to struggle to be perfect and mirror every movement just so. She couldn't help the small giggle that escaped her at his joke, "Oh, is that so? Well, my cake hasn't been revealed yet, but I promise the patients won't miss out on whatever Jerry has in store. If you lost your job I would be very much upset, so we can't allow that to happen."

"I knew there was great kindness in you," Mishka said with a gentle chuckle, his chest filling with warmth at the sound of her beautiful laugh, no matter how small it was. His hand on her back moved ever-so-slightly lower, gripping with more confidence as he seemed to fall into the flow a little more easily after some warm-up time. "What if I were to say, if Liv does not use kindness to become nurse I may also lose job." He was teasing, of course, his grey eyes twinkling with humor. Of course she would know he was lying.
"Cake reveal... cake must be very special, then, for such mystery to surround it. At home for birthday, we often have pie instead of cake, with birthday greeting poked into crust: cднем рождения."
