The brown haired man stirred and raised a hand to his eye to rub out the sleep. “What?” He mumbled as the looked for his partner, Mina. The gently rubbed her shoulder. “Hey, time to wake up.” He said with a yawn. After another minute or so the couple was up and active again.
“Thanks for the wake up call!” Mina said with a smile. “We were just hanging out in here when we ran into Moti over and then all the sudden we all fell asleep, I guess!” The woman said with a small blush.
“Anyway, how about a rematch now that we’re all awake!” Jon interrupted. “You guys trounced us before but we’ve gotten plenty stronger since yesterday!”
“Indeed, our combination is in top form!” Mina added.
“We’ve already spent a lot of time here.” Rajasi said somewhat downtrodden. “I’d prefer to keep going on.” The brown haired young man said as he recalled his Marshtomp as Moti was playing patty-cakes with it off to the side of the room.
”Oh, go on you kids.” Moti said with a smile. “They say that it’s the journey, not the destination, after all.”
”I’m up for it.” Claire added. And so it was decided that the four younger folk went outside to battle. Rajasi re-released his previous partner, Marshtomp for the battle this time and Claire decided that Kokoro the Quilava was her best bet since her Gastly, Yokai, had been KOed by the mysterious songstress Pokemon. Their opponents went for a different combination than their Lunatone and Solrock, this time they sent out two strange monkey Pokemon that Claire, Rajasi, and Moti were unfamiliar with.
“These gusy are from the Unova region.” Jon said with a smile.
“We took a trip there before coming to Kanto and caught these two.” Mina added. “The green one is Pansage and the red one is Pansear.”
“So now that we’re all acquainted, let’s heat things up! Pansear hit that Quilava with your Fury Swipes!”

Robin stared at the battlefield for a long moment her wide blue eyes blinking in disbelief as she watched Gardenia command the other trainer to bring her her prize money. She looked at it for just a moment before she let out a wild and happy cheer. "Woohoo!" She cried as she pumped her arm up into the air. Running forward she grabbed the exhausted Ambipom into her arms and squeezed him to her chest giving him a big kiss on his cheek before running off to Gardenia and scooping her up into a big hug as well and giving her her own kiss on the cheek. "Oooooooh! Thankyouthankyouthankyou!" She gushed practically strangling Luffy and the gym leader. That was an amazing battle! I couldn't have asked for anything better!" Letting go of the gym leader she looked at the passed out Luffy in her arms. "Oh... Sorry Luffy. You did so well to." She would just have to get him to a pokemon center and get him the biggest feast ever while he got healed!
"Thank you so much Gardenia! It was an amazing battle! I hope we can battle again sometime? Just for fun when we both get stronger yeah?" Robin couldn't stop her face from smiling as she gleamed at the other trainer. It was then that she noticed that she hadn't gathered her prizes at all. Trotting over to the gym trainer she took the badge first and with great pride she placed it in her badge case. It looked so good next to the Coal badge she had earned from that dreamy gym leader Roark. It was almost an afterthought that she took the prize money and the TM. Though she was interested in both those weren't nearly as interesting or as important to her as the badge was.

“Dodge it with Quick Attack!” Claire responded as the flaming monkey lithely made its way across the battlefield. Kokoro waited until the High Temperature Pokemon was nearly upon her before quickly darting out of range of its glowing claws. The Pansear let out an annoyed growl as his prey escaped but he waited for another command from his trainer before acting.
Meanwhile, Marshtomp and Pansage took their turns on another portion of the clearing outside the small rest area. The Grass Monkey Pokemon obeyed orders and launched several swings of Vine Whip toward their doubly-weak opponent. Marshtomp, well aware of her weaknesses, decided to also take the defensive and was dodging the vines as quickly as possible but she couldn’t last much longer against their faster opponent.
”Now that we’ve got some distance, help out Marshtomp with a Smokescreen!” Claire directed. Her Quilava partner nodded as she began to spew out a cloud of black smoke from her mouth and bodily pores to obscure the Mud Fish Pokemon from view.
“Don’t let them change opponents!” Jon countered. “Grab that Quilava while it is distracted with your Bite attack!” Pansear was happy to oblige and ran directly into the smoke cloud grabbing onto Kokoro and biting down hard on her side. Although it was painful, the Quilava ignored the stinging from the flaming monkey's teeth and continued to let out her Smokescreen attack. By this point the battlefield was thoroughly murky and completely obscured where the Marshtomp had been.
“Use Foresight to find your target, Marshtomp. Then hit it with a Mud Bomb when the moment is oportune.” Rajasi ordered cooly. The smokescreen was definitely helpful and he felt fairly secure hiding inside it for the time being. He didn't want to hit the wrong Pokemon though, so using Foresight just made sense in this scenario.

How easy was that, Leroy Rockwell thought to himself, about as smug as he could possibly be as he stepped inside of the Pokemon Center, holding the PokeBall that contained Miharu's Pidgeot in one hand, the Great Ball that held his Houndoom in the other. He was still trying to process what had just happened, with the girl giving him her Pokemon without a second thought when she hardly knew him from a hole in the ground. They had only met just yesterday, but Lee had already managed to establish quite a line of trust with the girl. It's not over yet, he mused, looking down at the PokeBall, and smirking. Aska, meet your new Master.
He walked right up to the counter and passed over the two spheres, not uttering a word as the nurse took them from him to get them treated. He tapped his fingers on the cool surface of the desk, idly looking at some of the posters and other fliers that had been stapled to the notices board, finding nothing interesting enough to hold his attention. When the Pidgeot and Houndoom were fully healed and returned to him he muttered a quick thanks and turned to leave, clicking the Great Ball into place on his belt. As he stepped outside he pulled a second PokeBall from the pocket of his jacket and he deftly swapped it with Miharu's, very much hoping that the girl wouldn't notice the difference.
Miharu was sitting right where Lee had left her, only she'd since released her Ivysaur and the two were patiently waiting for his return. Lee didn't miss the way the girl's green eyes lit up when she saw him and he felt a slight jab of guilt in his side as he tossed her the empty PokeBall. "She's all better now," he said, suddenly wondering what would happen if she were to try and release her Pidgeot, but that wasn't the case as she simply put the sphere on her belt. "Shouldn't you be getting your Metang ready too?" he added suddenly. "Aska won't be very useful against those Steel-types, after all."

Though Miharu couldn't sense that something was off, Lily could, and the Ivysaur took a step forward, growling, as the blonde boy approached. "Oh, Lily, relax. It's only Lee," the girl said, placing her hand on the Seed Pokemon's head. She hadn't taken a second look at the PokeBall, as at this point, Lee hadn't given her a reason to distrust him, though the fact that Lily was on edge gave her slight pause. Pokemon, after all, were often more insightful than people were. Miharu decided, however, to let it go for now, as it was more likely that her Ivysaur was simply distrusting of a stranger. She stood up, however, and nodded. "Yes, you're right, I should really switch Aska for Tingle. Um. I'll be right back?" She smiled and gave a slight bow before she darted off towards the building. Lily remained behind for a moment, being sure to give the boy a good stare-down before she followed after her trainer.
Lee simply smirked and waved, now sitting down on the bench to await the girl's return. He'd only really been a member of Team Rocket for a few week, though it wasn't like he took the organization seriously. Sure, he'd been part of their Slateport attack, but as soon as things turned ugly, he got the hell out of there. Too many of the stronger trainers were fighting back and easily overpowering them. He leaned back his seat and closed his eyes, allowing a smile to spread across his face. Yes, this was definitely good. Everything was moving a long more smoothly than he'd anticipated. Miharu and her belligerent Ivysaur returned a few moments later, the happy smile worn by the girl enough for Leroy to believe that she'd made the swap without any problems. "All set?" he asked, still smiling.
"Yes," she said, nodding. "If it's all right with you, I'd like to continue training now." At her side, Lily growled.
"Sure, that's fine," Leroy said, but he didn't get up. "I think I'm good for now, so just have your Pokemon practice against each other. If I see something that I think needs work, I'll let you know." Of course, he planned to do no such thing.
"Oh, that's fine," Miharu said, nodding. Perhaps it was for the best anyway, as Tingle was her only Steel-type so it made perfect sense for the rest of their Pokemon to test their attacks and defenses against it.

'Man if Diemia had been hit by that, it would have been all over for her,' Riza thought as she watched the gorgeous pink petals ravage the area around her Crawdaunt's Protect, and though she'd managed to avoid the second part of that attack, the raven haired girl was starting to realize that Kasiya was a bit out of her league. She'd been doing this a lot longer than Riza had, and she probably hadn't been spending all her time learning about and preparing for contests. Words that she'd spoken to Amy back when they first met floated through her mind. The basics of being a trainer...
Riza looked over at the blonde, who was pouting a bit as her attack had failed, but she also seemed concerned for her Pokemon. Riza noticed that something was going on with the Meganium too so she checked her pokedex, a little surprised to find that Petal Dance, while stupidly powerful, left its user dazed and weakened after use, so that must have been why Rosemary wasn't moving. 'She's confused, so I guess this isn't all over for us yet.' Riza perked up a bit at that thought, but she found herself actually starting to respect Kasiya and her abilities as a trainer and she allowed herself to smile a bit. "Yeah, she'll make a fantastic rival," she said to herself. "Diemia, use Brick Break again! I bet we can still win this!" The Crawdaunt gave a growl and once again charged toward her opponent, her heavy claws glowing brightly as she prepared to lay the smack down on the grass-type. * * * * * Now that the battle had ended, the adrenaline was starting to wear off and Gardenia was feeling a bit tired. She had just finished a rather large yawn when suddenly her winning challenger had ran across the field and was practically crushing her in a big hug, the still poisoned Ambipom between them. Gardenia laughed and returned the hug quite enthusiastically. "You're quite welcome," she said, looking back at the Ambipom. "Oh, I have just the thing for him, here." She reached into her pocket and pulled out a juicy pink berry. "Have him eat this pecha berry and it will cure his poisoning. And then give him this one." The second berry was a bit smaller, but round and blue with tight skin. "This oran berry will help give him a bit of strength back, at least until the two of you can get back to the pokecenter."
She smiled again, and nodded. "Yes, that was easily the most fun battle I've had in quite some time, and I'll be glad to have a rematch with you some day. Drop by to say hi the next time you're in Eterna, all right?" She watched with pride as Robin finally remembered to collect her winnings, placing her Forest badge in a case and Gardenia wondered if she'd won any other badges. "That's a promise, got it?"
((It's okay Deeray I understand. I just have things Katie needs to do and I can be impatient. Sorry!))

Taking the berries from the gym leader Robin grinned and pushed them towards Luffy's mouth only to have them sort of inhaled at the same time. Chuckling a bit Robin watched with amusement as even though the Ambipom was completely exhausted he always seemed to have the energy to eat. The redhead didn't even think that the two tailed monkey chewed the fruit before swallowing. "Haha, I forgot about berries." Robin remembered she had a few in her bag that she kept hidden away from the Ambipom. There was a reason why she didn't give him any fruit to hold, he would just eat it right away. Maybe she should give some to her other pokemon, other then Raz who dutifully held onto his berry. Some of her more responsible pokemon could really benefit from them. "Thank you so much again! I promise I will come back for a rematch! I just need to get stronger." With that Robin waved her goodbyes and continued to carry the still tired but now awake and poison free Ambipom out of the forest maze of a gym.
She made it out much easier then she had made it in. For some reason it didn't seem to be as complicated anymore. Was this the power of the forest badge?! It must be, Robin couldn't think of any other reason she wouldn't be so lost anymore.
Unlike most buildings when you step outside the air seemed to be more stuffy. That gym had such a fantastic garden in it that everything outside seemed almost dull in comparison. Robiin skipped off to the pokemon center happy thoughts of getting her team fed and then treating them all to a big congratulations meal. Heck for beating a gym leader they deserved food that didn't come from a pokemon center! A big treat indeed! Stepping through the sliding glass doors the redhead headed towards the counter and the bright pink haired nurse. "Hello Nurse Joy!" Robin crowed unable to lessen her victory joy. "Can you heal my pokemon please? We just had an amazing gym battle and really need some healing."
"Of course I can. I bet you won that gym battle to. It's hard to think of anyone having that grin if they didn't manage to win." Nurse Joy congratulated as she took Robin's pokeballs. The redhead decided that she should give them all a check up to just to make sure they were in tip top condition as well. That way she could scout around to when she was looking for some place for all of them to eat! Oh what a great surprise this was going to be! With that she bid the nurse farewell with promises that she would be back later.

Misty was thankful that they were both onto their second Pokemon, though she knew Quagsire had been a good choice against the Electric-type. But now she could only hope that Train didn't have a Grass-type up her sleeve; trainers often came in with Oddish and the like from neighboring routes and they were as much of a hassle as Pikachu were. The redhead relaxed only a little bit when she saw that her challenger sent out a Raticate instead, since there was no type advantage. This ought to be interesting.
"Quagsire, let him get close and then use your Ice Punch!" Misty called as the Water Fish Pokemon scrambled to get up on a mat to better accommodate his trainer's commands. She sure thought that Raticate looked scary, with those big teeth, but did not move as one of her fists took on a lighter hue. Quagsire let out a cry of pain when the rat sunk his fangs into her, but immediately responded by trying to swing her icy fist into his side as retaliation. That ought to show him!

"A Normal-type gym leader," Jett repeated to himself faintly, remembering that Norman had also been a specialist of Normal-types. Since none of his Pokemon were at a direct disadvantage, he could give them all a chance, and if he got his hands on a Dawn Stone, River would be able to handle a battle like that with ease. He thought of his newly caught Ekans and decided that he would train her hard too, so that she may be able to participate in the gym match and get even stronger. Somehow, he figured she would like that kind of thing. He focused back on Jasper and smiled a little. "I didn't know that Goldenrod was your home town. That must be interesting, coming from such a huge place..." After that, he had little more to say and tried to think of several things to talk about, but his attempts were in vain. The sounds of battle grew more frequent and more hectic from the back of the Pokecenter, and he wondered again if that was Scarlet. Had he found someone to have a battle with? Before he thought to go check it out, his stomach growled weakly and he realized that it had been a while since he'd last eaten.
"Well, I don't know about you, but I'm starving," the dark-haired youth finally said, turning to go check out this Pokecenter's cafeteria. "I was gonna suggest we wait for Scarlet, but he seems wrapped up in something for the moment." He felt slightly guilty, but resolved that he would still wait with his hotheaded friend as he ate later on. He glanced back at the older boy and smiled a little. "You're welcome to come along, if you want, but I get it if you had other things to do at the moment." With that, he was strolling back to the Azalea cafe, pleased to find that it wasn't as crowded as he would've expected. And the lack of lines at the moment felt like a downright blessing.

Amy kept her focus on her Bayleef, who looked around nervously as the silence carried on through the battlefield. For a moment, she heard nothing but the sounds of Riza's adjacent battle, and, glancing over, saw that the raven-haired girl was using a Crawdaunt against the blonde's Meganium, though surprisingly the battle seemed to favor the apparent Water-type for the moment. But her attention returned when she felt the slightest rumble beneath her feet and then Aegeus erupted from the ground, right beneath Flora. The bespectacled girl instinctively shielded her face for fear of wayward debris or rubble, but found that there weren't too many rocks flying her way. Flora, on the other hand, did not fare as well, and when the Onix completed his attack, she was sent flying far off to the side, landing harshly on the concrete. She was glad that she had used Synthesis, because Dig hurt a lot more than she had expected.
"Flora, are you all right?" Amy called, forgetting the battle for a moment. When the Grass-type slowly rose back up and nodded, she tried to think of what she should do next. "Use Magical Leaf again," she decided, knowing that the new attack seemed to be their best bet. Flora steeled herself and released a torrent of the glowing leaves that flew towards Aegeus. Amy's fist clenched and she chanced a look at Karrigan, wondering how her friend was feeling.

Jade felt a bit bad that her question had given the blonde pause, but after a few moments of consideration, he began to speak of another girl. This Robin certainly sounded interesting, even if she didn't know her, and Jade almost wanted to prompt who she had reminded Jake of. But then he continued on and told her about how she set him on his path. The black-haired girl smirked a little and glanced away. "I guess I owe her, then," she remarked with an off-hand tone. But then, as she should have expected but somehow did not, Jake asked her in return about her own friends and who she had met on her journey.
"Home." She couldn't help the short, humorless laugh that escaped her at the word, but quickly dismissed it with a shake of her head. There were friends she had made back there, other acolytes and trainers she had met, but she didn't want to think about them. For the most part, they seemed so devoted to their cause while she was far from it, and that often caused a lot of friction whenever she got too vocal about her dislikes. "You're the first person I've met on my journey," Jade confessed after a long while, pace not changing in the least, and she brushed her fingers along the top of her Psyduck's head as if to make sure he was still there. "And I dunno. Home wasn't..." She shrugged plainly, hoping that would articulate her point better than anything she had to say. The dark-haired girl looked at her friend and realized that he was her only one. Jake's my only real friend, she thought, and some part of her wanted to laugh. I bet he'd think it's sad. Poor, sad, weak girl with no friends. Yeah, right. Despite the bitterness laced in her thoughts, her face betrayed no negative emotion, and she smiled a little, albeit a well-practiced smile. At least she had learned that much from her teachers, being able to control what others would see.
"We'll probably meet a lot more people, though, and then we'll have a lot of friends," Jade said lightly, even though such optimism was far from what she felt on the inside. Aquarius let out a quiet noise and she looked at him, her sudden upset slightly alleviated by the mere sight of her little duck. "And we have our Pokemon, too," she murmured, feeling that to be more true than anything else she had said. No matter what, she would always have Solaris and Aquarius and hell, even Cirrus now. The trainer was sure that the little Shinx would grow on her soon enough.

For a moment, the two Pokémon were simply a single, scuffling creature. Raticate released Quagsire as the Water Fish’s icy fist connected with his side, and cried out loudly, pushing away from it and scrambling to the opposite side of the mat. Train was ready, though. There were no type advantages this time, so she wanted to make sure they kept hitting that thing, and hard, though that seemed to be how Misty was going about this round as well.
”Come on, Hyper Fang now!” She commanded firmly, shifting her weight. She glanced down at her feet and kicked off the flip flops lightly, wiggling her toes a little and taking a breath. Raticate bared his fangs, and they began to glow slightly. He darted towards the Quagsire, once again looking to sink his teeth into the Water- and Ground-type.+=+=+=+ Leon was resting his head on the back of his hand, leaning against the edge of the boat and looking out over the water. Muuma was floating idly by his side, enjoying the breeze. She’d never been on a boat before, and she was quite enjoying it now that she wasn’t fighting a giant jellyfish.
”Land ho!” Mr. Briney exclaimed all of a sudden, and Leon turned his head to look over the front of the boat. Sure enough, he could a large mass of land, which he assumed to be Dewford, growing bigger by the second as they neared it.

I guess this is for the best. Alex thought to herself, watching Kressen lead off Gigas and Hayley kneel down to have a word with Cynder. She decided it would probably be best to pick which of her oddly pumped pokemon would be battling today. Alex eyed her little Larvitar first, who was busy trying to egg Blues into a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors to decide who would have the honor of facing Mya and Tisyphone in the upcoming match up. Pushing the logistical nightmare of a fingerless pokemon initiating a game of Roshambo with a psychic to the back of her mind for later, Alexis considered Roll’s strengths. Or rather, her defenses. Her typing would prove ridiculously useful against any of Hayley’s pokemon, with rock trumping out the fire, normal, and poison type attacks she could see them throwing out.
Then there was Blues, who for some reason was stroking his chin, as if deep in thought about something. But again, Alex was too busy weighing the Abra’s battle competence to notice the sly shrug he gave Roll, followed by a nod. Blues is… well, he’s really smart… I… think, and he can um… Teleport! That’s good, teleportation’s nice… I guess… As she failed to notice her two pokemon raise their hands in the air and bring them down three times in rapid succession, the best choice was so obvious that it hurt. Before she could tell Roll to head over near Gigas, though, she heard an exasperated squeak uttered from the Larvitar’s mouth. Alex looked down to find Roll pouting, her fist hanging there in the air opposite Blues’s flat hand, palm facing down.
… What? No…!
Blues simply appeared next to Gigas, nodding a hello to Kressen and extending a hand to Gigas, as was customary for a Handshake of Teamwork. Alexis felt her jaw crash violently to the metaphorical floor. This isn’t happening… she prayed. Unfortunately, she hadn’t found God just yet. The pumped Abra hopped in place, up and down, to loosen up, and Roll darted over near Cynder to watch from near the rock the Charmander sat at.
… This is happening… The gears were spinning like mad, and this was a machine the tiny blond couldn’t stop. She’d never seen the Abra filled with so much energy in her life. If she stopped him now, he might’ve never forgiven him. So, muttering “This is actually happening” to herself over and over and over again, just under the threshold of hearing, she approached Kressen and took her place for the battle. I hate Rock, Paper, Scissors.

Pupitar had sent the rocks crashing down sure that they would bury the electric menace and bring this match closer to an end, but the opponents clearly had other plans. Surge didn't seem to lose his cool and called for a protect, the Electabuzz not faltering at all as he summoned the green protective barrier. The stones broke all around him but left Electabuzz unscathed, and Crenu found himself thinking how annoying protect was. He thought about teaching his own pokemon protect, but he was sure he'd get annoyed even seeing it on his side. It was a shame that his attack didn't get to do its job, but odds were he wouldn't be able to succeed a second time with it and an attack would work this time. But rather than go on the offensive Crenu decided to use this time to set up the field in his favor. "Sandstorm again, regular version." He said calmly as Pupitar 'nodded'. To attack again after a protect was to obvious and this was better in his mind. Sand started pouring from the ports on Pupitar's body and with a muffled grunt from the hard shell pokemon the sand started whipping around. More and more sand was summoned from within his shell and the wind speed picked up, turning the calm atmosphere of the gym into a violent sandstorm covering the field. The harsh gritty sand just bounced off of Pupitar's body harmlessly, and I.stead of harm he felt stronger as it clung to him in a protective manner. It didn't really matter seeing as he was zap proof and Electabuzz seemed to only have physical attacks, but it still felt nice and Pupitar was right at home in the sand. The Storm stabalized and Pupitar looked his yellow and black opponent in the eyes, the violent sand even tearing apart the remaining webs from the previous fight.

“This isn’t looking too great for you, Scarlet,” Cyan pointed out, smirking with the smugness of a thousand Persians. Vector’s teeth dug into Cindy, who let out another grunt of pain as she pawed helplessly at the Croconaw’s side. Vector crunched down again, and the squirming stopped. Cyan shrugged innocently before she posited in. “Maybe you should give up.” When Scarlet’s fist unclenched, and his shoulders slumped, Cyan thought she might’ve accidentally broken that permanently cheerful b*****d. She instantly felt like trash, watching the red haired boy staring at the ground, his body shaking. “… Scarlet, I-”
The glare Scarlet shot her when he looked up was cold, icy enough to chill her to the bone. She felt a shiver run down her spine. Unfortunately, Vector wasn’t that lucky. Cindy’s eyes suddenly jolted open, glowing like two white stars. The flaming patches on her back that had been fizzling out suddenly flared out.
“Cindy. Flame Wheel.” Scarlet’s eyes lost focus on Cyan, instead finding Cindy. And the flame patches blazed up like mini infernos. The Croconaw released its hold and stumbled back. And Cindy dropped to the ground, wincing as she turned to face him. She darted toward Vector and jumped, curling up into a ball. Flames wrapped around her entire body, and she crashed down hard on Vector’s skull. He roared in pain as she continued behind him. Vector groaned, a rather nasty looking scorch mark burned into the crest of his head.
“Tch, give up... How’s that for a surrender?” Scarlet stared at Cyan with a fire in his eyes, his lips slowly curling into a grin. “We good for a few more moves, Cindy?”
The Quilava responded with a bark, before she spat an Ember toward Vector.
~~~
Four Years Earlier
“Kay, Totodile!” Cyan cried out excitedly. The little crocodile skidded to a stop and spun on its heel, gazing up at the blue haired girl with wide eyes. She knelt down in front of him, smiling a little sadly at him. “I really like you. We’re friends, right?” The little croc growled, nuzzling Cyan’s side. “That’s good,” she said. “Maybe he’ll let me keep you…”
Totodile stared up at Cyan and canted his head to the right, at least before something caught his attention. He pivoted on his right foot, staring over toward what he now recognized as the sound of a closing door.
Scarlet waved awkwardly toward Cyan, his gaze firmly affixed to his feet. Trotting behind him was a Cyndaquil. The squee Cyan made was not of this world.
“Omigoshomigoshomigosh,” she squeaked, running over to Scarlet faster than he thought possible. Within a quarter of a second, there she was, crouching down in front of the confused Cyndaquil. “You are sooo cute.”
“Her name’s ah… Cindy-” Scarlet started, looking over at the two ladies. At least until Totodile ran over and bumped into his leg. He wasn’t as excited as Cyan. Heck, he’d seen the cute little guy soon after Cindy hatched. He knelt down and patted the grinning croc on the head. “… Man I’ve never seen one this close before. He’s so cool…”
“Yeah,” Cyan started, scratching Cindy on top of her head. “But um… There’s something I wanted to talk to you about…”
It wasn’t long before the ferry pulled up to a small dock jutting out from the middle of the island. Leon stood and moved himself towards the exit, reaching into his jacket and pulling out his wallet. He exited down the short ramp and stepped over to Mr. Briney, who was tying up the boat. The old man looked up at Leon and caught sight of the wallet.
”Lad, if I wanted money, I’d’ve made ye pay before lettin’ ye on my vessel!” Leon nodded in understanding and stuck the wallet back into the larger pocket inside of his jacket.
”Thanks for the ride, then,” He said, turning to look at the buildings closest to them.
”No problem! I love helpin’ folk out. There’s not much reason for me to take the old gal out otherwise!” He chortled, patting the boat firmly. Leon had begun to step away, but Mr. Briney spoke up again. ”You seem to be pretty close with that Pokémon o’ yours. You got any more?” He inquired. Leon stopped and turned back to face Mr. Briney.
”Yeah. A Gastly,” He replied, not sure where this was going.
”Ah, another Ghost-type, I see! Well, if you’re plannin’ on takin’ on the gym here, you might want more’n just two Pokémon. I heard there’s a ghosty Pokémon runnin’ around the caves over there, called say-blee or some’in’ like that.” The man jabbed a thumb towards the back of the island, where one could see the rocky landforms rising in the distance.
”Yeah?" Leon murmured, eyes trailing over to the caves. Thanks, I’ll check it out.” His interest was definitely peaked. He stepped off of the dock and looked back towards the small mountains. Muuma had only had one little battle, so he didn’t feel the need to stop at a Pokémon Center. He looked over at her, though, and she looked confidently back at him. He smiled at her a little, and the two began to make their way towards the back of the city.
Leon looked up at the sky once they were out of the city, realising he had no idea what time it was. The sun seemed to be right in the middle of the sky, and was beating down strongly, but he had no idea what this cave would be like, so he couldn’t really judge if he would be out by night fall or not. Not that it really mattered much, if he got tired, he’d have no problem just resting in the cavern for a while.
He had quickly gotten sick of the sand, his boots sinking down into it and kicking it up onto his jacket as he walked. He finally, with a groan, pulled of his coat and folded it in half, draping it over his forearm and sticking his hands into his pockets. It was certainly hot on this island, something he did not particularly enjoy in his choice of clothing. Having the jacket off was a relief, but his pants and boots were still very hot, and it wasn’t like he had anywhere to put them or anything else to change in to. He took a large breath and closed his eyes for a moment before glancing over at Muuma, who would sometimes float right about the sand, and other times be far above his head, though was always right in “step” with him.
