"Not bad." Shadow commented, arms crossed.
Sonic jumped--literally--to his feet, grinning. "Sweet. Haven't done that in a long time. Hey, where'd Tails go?"
Tails was stumbling around, trying to balance himself. "Uhhhhhhhhhhhh...." He fell.
"Sorry about that, Tails." Knuckles said, catching the fox by the arms and helping him steady.
"I'm good...I'm good." He mumbled, rubbing his head.
Suddenly, something flew at Shadow.
Shadow held up one arm. The object, which turned out to be a ninja star, fell with a clank onto the floor.
"Hmph. See your reflexes are as good as ever." muttered a deep, semi-quiet voice.
"All right, show yourself Espio! We know you're here! And we know what you're up to!" Rouge called, putting her hands on her hips.

Justin held up his three pronged nunchaku, ready to counter an attack. The chill in the air around him was fierce, which meant he was eager to fight.

"Do you now? So you did your homework." In a whirl of wind and leaves, a figure appeared(in the position he is in in his picture, which is below). "That still is no excuse for obliterating twenty one of my robots."
"Haven't changed much, have you Horn-Boy?" Knuckles smirked slightly.
"Watch it Knucklehead." Espio warned.
"My question is how did you afford to build all of this? Last I checked, you were dead broke." Luna crossed her arms.
"You'll find I have many connections. For example, a certain company you've met. Especially you, Luna."
"TOME?!"
"Wow! I knew you were a bully, but that's just plain sick and twisted." Sonic said, frowning. Something which was rare for him.
"Enough talk." Espio lowered his arm. "I have things to do and little time to spend."

Justin glared at Espio, forming ten ice knives in his hands. "Let's get this over with, then!" He exclaimed, throwing them at the horned ninja.

Espio did a flip, avoiding the knives. "Indeed." He threw five ninja stars at Justin. Suddenly, a large hammer came hurtling towards him, which he just managed to dodge.
"Damn!" Luna's hammer spun around like a boomerang, coming back to her. She jumped up and caught it.
Espio was grabbed by the arm and tossed at a wall. He turned himself horizontal, feet touching the metal. He looked up to see Knuckles landing. "Damn that echidna."

Justin smacked the stars away with his nunchaku. He then had an idea. He breathed a stream of cold air, freezing the metal Espio stood on.

(And now, the odd twist semi-begins >:3)
"Nice one, Justin!" Sonic called.
Espio hissed, trying to pull his legs free.
"Wait a second...." Shadow pulled out a knife and jumped up at Espio.
"Shadow, what are you doing?!"
Shadow's knife peirced Espio's chest. The chameleon mutant's eyes widened.
"Shadow!!" Sonic yelled in surprise.
Shadow placed his feet on the wall, pushing the blade in deeper.
Knuckles stared. What the hell was Shadow doing? They rarely killed human beings on their missions, and here he was just....impaling the guy. They were going to stop him, maybe beat him senseless, but weren't aiming to kill(of course, if the person happened to, no big deal.)
After a moment, Shadow pulled it out, breaking Espio's feet free from the ice, doing a backflip and landing perfectly on his feet.
Espio fell to the ground, one hand over his wound. "D-d-da-damn y-you...." He managed, hate in his eyes(the only part of his body visable).

Justin looked at Shadow, wide eyed. "What was that for, Shadow!? We weren't here to kill the guy!" He yelled. He kinda regretted freezing Espio to the wall now.

"I did it because...." Shadow stared at the dying person with no expression on his face. "That isn't Espio the Chameleon."
Rouge blinked, eyes wide. "What?"
"Who is it then?"
"I don't know. But I do know that the real Espio the Chameleon is able to dodge any attack. Even Sonic and my's. Knuckles wouldn't have been able to hit him, and he would not have been frozen to the wall." Shadow said, not taking his eyes off of Espio.
Espio twitched, then was still.
"Look what you did, Shadow. You killed him. We'll never know if he was real now, huh?" Sonic crossed his arms.
"Look!" Tails pointed at the body. It was....melting?
They all gazed at what was now just a pool of thick colorless liquid.

Justin looked at the liquid. "Guess you're right, Shadow. But if that wasn't Espio.....what the hell was it?" He asked.

"A copy." He said, "Maybe even a robot. Either way, I have to give Espio credit. He thought we'd come, and send a fake to distract us while he fled."
"Hmph. Well that's just not fair!" Rouge kicked a rock in frustration.
"Coward ran, did he?" Knuckles punched his hand, "Damn, and I was looking forward to kicking his a**, too."
"So where do we try next?"
"I'm already on it. Sightings of mysterious mechs have been seen in the forest. Reckon he went there." Luna said, a phone-type device next to her ear.

Justin nodded. "Alright. Let's take those tin cans out!" He said, ready to get moving again.

"All right. First one there's a rotten egg!" Sonic sped off, followed by Knuckles, Luna, and Shadow. Tails and Rouge stayed behind.
"Y'know what's weird?" Rouge glanced up at the cliff they came from. "I feel like we're being watched by something. Am I just being paranoid?"
"Actually, I get that sense too. Maybe Espio put in a security camera?" Tails said, "In any case, I'm sure it's nothing. Let'scatch up with the others before we lose them." He began walking.
"Rouge the Bat data....Miles 'Tails' Prower data....Justin Fletcher data...All successfully copied."
Rouge's ears rotated. "Did you hear something?"
"Okay, now I'm scared."
She sighed, and went over to Tails. "Nevermind. It's probably nothing to worry about." She assured him. He nodded, and they hiked after the others.

Justin stood there for a second, wondering who said that. It kinda creeped him out. He then shrugged, walking off after Rouge and Tails.

(Skipping yet again until they get there....)
"I don't know about this, Sonic. We're so high up...."
"Don't look down and you'll be fine, Tails!" Sonic called. He was standing on the other side of a large gap in the platform, which had a looped vine over it.
"Pathetic. A kid who fly a plane at any height with ease, but can't swing over a little hole." Shadow pushed him aside and jumped, catching the vine and letting go, doing a flip and landing on his feet on the other side.
