Earendil smiled and hugged Miyuki warmly, then kissed her on the forehead and laid her down in her bed. "Come on, down you go," he chuckled softly. "The sooner you're asleep, the sooner you wake up again, and then we can have the whole day together."
He started to hum softly, brushing her hair away from her face.

"But I'm not sleepy..." Miyuki replied.
It probably wasn't true, but she didn't want to sleep without her parents. She liked being with them.
Lin padded softly over to the bed, sitting on the bed edge, "If you close your eyes, it'll come."

Earendil smiled. "Would you like a story, then?"
He had a few stories up his sleeves ... not as many as he could tell most people, as she was a part of many of them, but there were always stories about the history of the Four Lands that he could tell. Myths and legends and actual history, some of which were blurred so that fact could not be distinguished from fiction.

Stories were always a good thing, and even MIyuki had a bit of trouble saying no to that.
"I guess...." she replied.

Earendil smiled and kept brushing her hair away from her face, a calming movement that his mother had always done to him when he hadn't wanted to sleep. He told her the story of the beginning of the Southland, when his ancestor, Queen Alyse, led the dark elves to their new homeland and how she built up the country with their help out of nothing.
Of course, he told the children's version of the story, the one that was more excitement and less boring narrative.

He had her complete attention, as this was a story she had not heard yet. By the near end of the story though her eyes were drooping, she was laying down instead of sitting up and her head was resting on a very comfy pillow.
So it was no surprised that by the end of it all she had fallen asleep. It had been a long day for her.

Earendil smiled warmly and tucked the blankets around Miyuki's shoulders, making sure that she would be warm enough in the cold night. There was no fireplace in this room after all, and there wouldn't be any fires lit overnight anyways.
Once Miyuki was tucked in, he rose carefully and held one hand out to Lin. He didn't want to say anything until they were out of the room though, in case they woke Miyuki.

Lin took his hand and pulled herself up slowly taking her weight off the bed. Wrapping her arm with his, she led him back out of the room quietly. It was a bit nerve wracking at first because she didn't know how deep Miyuki was sleeping and she knew her daughter had really good ears, so she was quite worried about waking her up.

Earendil smiled and led Lin from the room, closing the door ever so quietly behind them once they were out.
Once in the hallway, he sighed contentedly. "Well," he murmured softly, "that was a workout."
He grinned at Lin, his eyes sparkling as he led her once more towards the stairs.

Lin chuckled as she walked along side Earendil, "Well she really didn't want to go to bed by herself."
Which Lin could kind of understand to sleep by one's self after not doing so for most of one's life was not fun she was pretty sure.

Earendil nodded. "I'm sure that it will get easier for her over time," he murmured quietly so as not to disturb anyone else who might be asleep. After all, he didn't know where their visitors were sleeping either.
"But on that note," he added, "we should be heading to bed. I was thinking, if we were to accompany Aric and Leilani to the valley, you could see what's changed there as well."

Lin couldn't disagree, it was a sound idea and she would like to see everyone there.
"That would be nice, and to visit people there as well," she murmured.

"Adonai and Shael are back from Amon Darthir," Earendil offered. "They've been back for almost a year now. They arrived just a little after I did. So you can also find out a little more about how things were there after we left as well, if you want."
And of course Cindy was there, and Earendil was certain Lin would want to talk to her - if for no other reason than to tell her that they were finally married.

Lin smiled widely at that, "And maybe we can also visit Celebor and his family as well?"
In a strange way she actually spent most of her time growing up around Celebor, unlike now where she spent a large amount of time with the neko trio.

Earendil chuckled softly. "I wouldn't dream of going all that way without visiting them," he grinned, squeezing Lin to his side. "Don't you worry about that."
He stopped at the door to their room and opened it for her. "After you," he grinned, his eyes sparkling brightly even in the darkness.
