"K-katalis...!" Shento stared in horror as his love moved in front of his bow. He tried to lower it, but he couldn't make his body do it. "Move, Katalis...! I.. cannot stop!" By now, the bow was around forty percent output. "Move... I.. I cannot hold attack!" Even then, his mind was giving orders to release the bow then and strike her down, but he continued to fight it. "Move.... move!!"

"...Ka...tal..is!! ...Grrr...raagh....!"

He held on, he couldn't fire. No, not on her. But the orders... they had control over his body. But he had made a promise! Who the hell was he anyway?! He didn' become a hero to simply allow somebody to use him for his own gain!

That's when he thought about it. He didn't belong here, and he knew that. His life had ended a long while ago. He and his fellow heroes did many great things for the continent, but in the end, they were tricked by the dark god eventually killed off one by one. That is when they ceased to be. That is how it is supposed to be. He couldn't escape the controlling grasp that was over him. He realized this more than ever now, as he stared at his love, with his bow aimed right at her. By now, the light seals on Ziaram and Ed were wearing off, and soon Arashe's would, too.

He couldn't let this happen. He wouldn't. Deep inside himself, he fought like he had never fought before. He had to do an attack, somehow. Then he had it. It was the only way. He couldn't allow himself to continue aiding the dark god. Even if he got passed this battle, the promise he made would be nothing. For even then, there would be no peace, and they could not be together. No, this was the only way.

"D-discharge!" donarco suddenly discharged and emmitted a surge of lightning upon Shento. Though it had no effect on him, besides a little pain, the charged power was now gone. With no charge, he threw the bow aside and launched his fourth light seal, sealing the Donarco from him.

He looked at Katalis, breathing deeply. "If... you love me.... keel me now... before it is too late..."

Isadora couldn't believe what she was seeing and hearing. The paladin was prepared to attack if the Sniper Hero refused her again. And just when he was charging his arrow to aim at her, Melethia stepped in front.

She wasn't sure whether to interfere or not. However, she couldn't help but feel baffled of the situation they were in. And just when the power of the arrow was increasing, the Sniper Hero had discharged it, threw it aside, casted the Light Rune on the bow, and asked Melethia to kill him.

Isadora bit her inner lip. It seemed that this was a battle between Shento and Melethia now. The paladin continued to watch. In case things had went badly, then she would forced herself to interfere.... But for now, the paladin kept her tongue silent as she watched.

Her hand was shaking though. She had made it into a claw. "It's my life or yours." She started to cry. "I wish it wasn't this way."

The tears were forming now. She lifted her claw a bit. "This is going to be a heavy weight on my soul." She said. She got into a stance to strike. She closed her eyes and stabbed him in his chest. She pulled back before opening her eyes. She cried even more now that she saw the wound. She wished she didn't drop that Psychic staff she had. Right now she really wanted to heal him. She fell to her knees

Ledreak had her down, but also had no weapon besides his own weight. He held her pinned, as she questioned him. The movements filled an inertia, and his thoughts formed clear words. "I don't really know, the land where we were masters... Now lays in waste. We were powerful, almost divine, and then, given another chance at life after a long beheld death. Seems unreal, and so to thank him, I decided that I'd follow his orders. There's action and women, right? It's a bumpy ride, but ya know, life ain't no crystal stair." He lived by those words, ever since his mother recited them.

Ledreak looked at both lances. They were took far for him to reach, without letting his captive go. "You're ******** LUCKY! If I HAD FOUND A HAIR CUTTIN' TOOL, Yo' hair might be redickalus right now."

Dread Reaver Kyros

((A little death theme mood music stuff someone picked out, since I am drained song-wise.))

<[ – K Y Ř O Ş – ]>

-...I have changed your life, rest assured...-

"Not all love is in vain..."

"...I still feel its pain..."

The blade of the naginata almost felt welcome. The blood that flowed from his neck, an odd difference to the gallons and gallons he'd been covered by through his life. His own blood, though no different from anyone else's, seemed almost... pure, untainted, unaltered by the countless lives he'd cut down. With Dullahan out of his hands, his mind returned to a state of clarity, of normalcy, of sanity.

You'll scare the children.

His entire body was racked with grief at the remembrance of this one phrase. He wasn't the last to fall. Shento and Ledreak were still fighting hard, a battle they were likely to lose. He'd gone through this whole ordeal, only to lose himself in his rage. For all he knew, his children could have seen him like this, and what would they think? Teifi must be so disappointed in me... she wouldn't want this...

As his eyes slowly closed, his grin went from a feral grimace to a kind, fatherly smile, as if he were content with his life finally ending, in the fashion that it did. When the darkness finally enveloped him, his life began to play like a movie. Childhood. Raising a family. Losing the family. Darkness. Teifi. The Heroes. Death. Rebirth. Death again.

He stood in a large, grassy field, bordered by trees, a large house in the distance. The sun began to set, an orange haze over the meadow. An unseen force beckoned him over, the sounds of people becoming ever more noticeable. The cottage crept closer and closer, until it was directly in front of him.

The door silently opened to show a decadent manor. Upon entering, Kyros saw a glimpse of a lavish kitchen, complete with everything he'd ever need. But, the room he was in was a fantastic living room with masterfully crafted furniture, a magnificent rug, and a large, crackling fireplace. As he began to move further into the large room, he froze at the sounds of creaking coming from above.

Of all people to come down those stairs, he never expected Teifi. Her glorious red mane, her elegant steps, she appeared to be almost dancing down the stairs, a smile on her face as their eyes connected. He could do nothing but stare incredulously at her. She looked absolutely marvelous, as always, but was completely devoid of all kinds of injury or scarring.

He wanted to reach out, to touch her, but couldn't. It seemed like a dream, too good to be true, with as much as he'd done in his life, as much as he'd destroyed, as much as he'd failed Teifi. But she was there.

She walked over to him, placing her graceful hand upon his shoulder, her eyes sparkling like diamonds and her voice calm as waves lapping against the shore.

The kids are upstairs. Do you want to see them, Kyros?

...are they scared?

They didn't see anything. It's behind you now...

Good. Let's go.

As he began to climb the stairs, the last drop of life finally fell from the Dread Reaver's body, his soul in a better place, a peaceful life, far from the carnage of battle.

"...Falling to desire..."

"...Sanity under fire..."

(It's finally over.)

A confused look crossed Rhys' face. Madrianna, the "Necromancer" of Halloween... crying? What happened? I can't see Mika... did she... sacrifice herself for her sister?

For the first time in the entire battle, Rhys felt as though he understood. All this time, they'd thought Mika was the villain... that she was running these heroes just because she'd been duped into revenge. But perhaps... Mika was, in the end, nothing more than a wannabe villain. Madrianna had always been the star of the family. She could make morphs that actually talked and acted like real people! Sure, they were generally what you'd call no-goodniks, but... all Mika had done was make mindless killing machines. She'd always been a step behind, and perhaps she just went crazy over that. Nobody ever told her she'd been great. She was always just "second best"... no wonder she did what she did.

But could he just tell Madrianna that? Would she accept the truth? Probably not. Not THAT part of the truth, at least. But...

"...She loved you, Madrianna. That's why she did what she did. ...But..."

For some reason, he remembered long ago--Talrega, Daein. Shiharam, the enemy commander. Jill's father. Ike's words.

"...Regardless, I'm the one who made her do it. If you regret all the things you've done in the past, maybe it's not too late to redeem yourself. But if you want revenge for what I've done... don't hesitate."

Rhys kept a loose grip on Antaram.

Madriana looked up, her eyes filled with tears...

"Rhys... I don't want revenge. I don't want revenge. That's what started this massacre."

She shook her head and wiped her eyes.

"I don't know what I want..." She moved towards him... She fell against him, helpless...

"Help me... I don't know what to do... Help me, please..."

Leon was relieved. He was truly relieved that Amelia had been taken care of. What more was better... it was her father that he happened to bring her to! What better hands for a girl to be in than her father's? He was a friend, he was a superior, he was a Watchman, but his devotion, his desire to protect her... his concern didn't match to Renault's. Family before camaraderie, and that was fine with him.

It meant that Amelia would be safe, and he could re-join the battle, rest assured that she'd either return to his side or stay by Renault's, and in either place she'd be spared the merciless heat of battle.

He rode back to the site where Kyros fell, as a power was calling to him... calling...

And there it was. The axe of Earth, Dullahan, laying free in the battle with no owner in sight. He dismounted, taking the handle. "Some'un had better pick it up 'fore th' en'my does, Anri." he said to his steed absentmindedly.

And so pick it up he did. And when he did... suddenly, a strange feeling came over him. That sensation that had travelled through him, the joy of battle, the joy of winning, the desire to return to the delights of war filled him to the brim! He mounted his mighty war horse, even more hastily than before, the large, heavy axe a mere light weight now! It was just a tool for war now in his mind... and... all he wished for was battle. His allies helped him battle, he would let them be spared of Dullahan's path!

However his enemies... would be given no mercy, no quarter. They'd know nothing of the chivalry shown by the Leon of old, for when he gripped this weapon... he became a new man, only thirsty for battle, no matter what happened.

He made one mighty swing of the large axe, and earth spikes, stretching far down a field of morphs stretched up to impale them from all directions. He cared not if they were on the same level as him. All that mattered... was the battle.

It was sad to see a lover killed another. Isadora watched as Melethia stabbed Shento through the chest with her claw. As both lovers fell to the ground, one fell to the knee, she continued to watch with pity eyes.

Once again, another Hero was not slain by her hand. Although the guilt trip was not on her shoulders, it seemed that it had fell on the shoulders of the lover.

Felt sorry for Melethia, Isadora slided off her horse, despite that they were in the middle of the battle. The paladin walked to where Melethia and the dead Hero were. She knelt next to Melethia and placed her hand on the dragoness' shoulder. She spoke with soft and concern tone. "I'm sorry that it had to end like this. If only there was some way it didn't end like this."

She then looked at the Hero. Even though she didn't knew him well, it was still sad to see someone died. Isadora closed her closed and said, "May St. Elimine ease your soul and that you'll rest in peace."

Not wanting to disturb Melethia's mourn for Shento, Isadora got up and turned around. She looked around to see that the battle was still continuing. But before she could go back into the battlefield, she noticed Father Renault.

"Father Renault!" Isadora shouted to the Archbishop. "Could you help Melethia find some peace in her heart? It seems that she needed some guidance about the death of a loved one."
PostPosted: Thu Jul 02, 2009 7:52 pm

Madrianna fell against him, making Rhys bring her into a hug. He felt rather, well, awkward about it... he looked about, wondering where Amelia was. I swear, Amelia, I did NOT come on to her. But she was in Renault's arms... Wait... did she almost die out there? He felt ashamed that he hadn't noticed earlier. He knew it couldn't be helped, and Renault was just as good, but still...

"Then if you don't want revenge, can you help us? We're here to fight Loki. He's over there, in that cave," he added, pointing to the ominous cave mouth close by. "Someone else ran in there, but I don't think he won... but soon, this will be over, and we need to finish him now. If we don't, then all of our past trials will have been for nothing.

You've done some bad things in the past, Madrianna," he added, "But it's not too late to try and make up for them. Will you help us?"

--------

Ghis and Javert and the surviving Watch members took a well-earned breather. Now the morphs were just getting massacred by the legendary weapons, and with only Ledreak and Madrianna as potential threats now, there seemed to be less and less of the generic soldier-clones.

Granted, there were still enemy fliers, but with Tibarn for the lion's share of kills and Charice for the ones he missed, they were of no concern.

Madriana sniffed and stood up straight, pulling away from Rhys... She didn't really want to, but she felt that she should probably ease his fears and let him go...

"Sorry, Rhys..." She turned and looked toward the cave. "So Loki... Is over there? The one who caused all of this..."

She stood quietly for a moment.

"I'll help... I'm not very strong right now.. I can feel it. This isn't my body... It's a fabrication.. But I can help... There's nothing left for me anyway."

He raised his head, as he was struck through. Blood trickled out of his mouth, and down his chin. Slowly, he fell to the ground, on his back. His hair flowing in front of his face, then landed messily beside him, with one lock landing on his cheek.

His vision started to fade. He looked over at Melethia, and took her hand. "Do not cry, Katalis... I had time with living. There be new heroes now. They.. you, can save the world." He coughed some. "Here... take." He reached into his pack and gave Melethia his final light seal. "Use well.... Also, take Donarco. Give to one who can use... to one who remind you of me. Tell... other Impersian... to forgive me. Tell him to go stronger, and uphold heritage."

He smiled at her, as his eyes started to close. He then looked up at the sky. It was so peaceful, so beautiful... he wished he could have seen more of that endless blue sky with his love. But, it was his time to go. He knew that.

"Thank you... Katalis. My love will always be with you. I will wait for you. We will be together again... one day. Until then, remember.... I love you."

His eyes slowly closed. A breeze came through, blowing his hair, where he lay. Then blackness. Light suddenly escaped from above, revealing a dark cave, within Melethia's mind. A horrible odor filled the area. A deep and dark growl sounded. A low growl, an omen of evil, entered the room. Shento stopped in his tracks.

"Foolish human...." A deep and dark voice uttered suddenly. "Your pathetic kind has long been nothing but a thorn in our side. To think... we, who are mightier, bigger, live longer... we who have proclaimed eighty percent of the land as our own... live shut away because of your precious sacred treasures. But now... That is over. This is... your end."

At that moment, torches lit up all around the edge of the wall, revealing an open cave. Shento was standing atop a central pillar of stone. Dark power seemed to emanate from the ground, and the earth began to shake. The figure of a colossal dark dragon revealed itself in front of the sniper, and breathed out a hazy mist from its mouth, that went around Shento, melting his way of escape.

"Do you fear darkness, boy? Yessss, I can feel it. You always have. You fear quite a bit, don't you?" The beast chuckled sinisterly. "How funny that mankind would send a coward to defend itself. And also... how pathetic. Humans... are truly worthless creatures." The torches fell and doused themselves within the dark abyss, as the earth quaked. Whatever menacing light there was slowly began to fade away, leaving only the evil glow from the beasts eyes. The sniper stood there, unable to move, unable to look away.

"You wanted to see her again, did you? You wanted to save your kind? Slay darkness itself and send fear running? You have never seen true fear, nor evil. I am the essence of fear. I am the darkness that will always thrive!" Dark flames shot up from all sides, and the shaking doubled. "You will face fear tonight, boy! You will know what darkness is! You all will! All you humans.. YOU WILL DIIIE!" Powerful black flames shot from the dragon's mouth toward Shento.

No. He would not die. Shento suddenly leaped into the air and pulled a bow from his back. It had suddenly appeared, as if bestowed upon him by some god. The sniper took aim at the beast's head. He didn't speak a word. The bow was completely charged. He released it. A huge arrow bolt jolted from the bow and crashed into the dragon. It tore through its body, all the way down to the very end, completely shredding every little piece of it. The dragon let out a horrible roar of pain as it died. "Noooo! How... can this be?! You're.. just a human! Just one humaaaaan...! Raaaaaahhh.....!!"

He landed and made his way to the center of the cave. Suddenly, a heavenly light filled the room, and a door appeared, wide open. He looked behind him and saw several people standing there. They smiled at him. One, a woman with red hair, gave him a nod. This was meant for him. It was a calling from greater powers, calling on him. Shento nodded back to the woman and turned around, facing the opened door. He placed the bow on his back, and walked through it.

Light filled the area, and the vision ended within Melethia's mind. It was a parting gift. Perhaps there were other gods who had enough strength to act, after all.

Another breeze came across. Farewell.. Katalis. And then it was gone. He passed on, and now waited, in a better place, for his love to one day arrive.

Kyros, gone. Evelyn, gone as well. Castello, Misura, Jyoti, Domanova, all gone. Teifi, long gone. Shento, gone now, too! Mika, gone as well. That left Ledreak, and while Loki had always been impressed by the Halberdier, he knew that he was fighting losing odds.

So Loki was busy. The statue of Rei was moved forward, out to the middle of the land bridge, where it would serve not only to impede movement but to freak out the first person who saw it, and he was sweeping away the stone shards left from the heroes' resurrection. Got to clean up for company! So Octavio's question was ignored.

Not by Váli, though. More little sugar cubes pelted the archsage's face, followed by a chorus of giggles from the little chinchilla. The rodent then leaped off the table into Octavio's lap and climbed up to slap him back and forth with a surprising amount of force-- easily enough to whip poor Octavio's head side to side! He climbed up, grabbing Octavio's bangs and pointing at him with one claw, as if it say, "YOU don't get to talk!"
