Considering the lack of Jedi/Sith numbers at the time, I'm thinking that my Shadow might kinda moonlight as a bounty hunter-esque type, only more in in the fashion of being friendly with the Rangers. Like, they can't officially do XYZ, but no such restrictions apply to her, etc.
For a reference, take the Negotiations assignment in Mass Effect. It's strongly implied Hackett wants you to kill the guy, but the Alliance can't officially give such an order, but they also can't reprimand Shepard thanks to being a Spectre should it happen. That kinda setup.

We dont want peace between them. We want strife bordering on open conflict. I think 13 ABY is fine.
So what the New Repbulic doesn't have anything nice and shiny yet, oh well. There are plenty of ships out there, and its not like were gonna be needing alot of them.

Are we letting things above the level of apprentice or knight in? Probably might be worth figuring out to help chop and shop. Along with sith, dark jedi, jedi, jensaari, etc, what's allowed and what isn't.
@ Des: so you're not a sector ranger? or are you?

Nelowulf Are we letting things above the level of apprentice or knight in? Probably might be worth figuring out to help chop and shop. Along with sith, dark jedi, jedi, jensaari, etc, what's allowed and what isn't. @ Des: so you're not a sector ranger? or are you? I am, but I'm high ranking, the term is SEO. I'd say nothing higher than Advanced, and even then only under speculation. And I think we should only allow sith if they can prove canoncy as to why they are making one, and why its here.

I still don't like the idea of anything more than a padawan in system. Jedi observers can be.... annoying.
Although, this reminds me of the Bimms when they tried to caputre skywalker.

We could even come across a Kilian Ranger if we are close enough to the Edge. i made it quite general to fit to most casks of Force Users, instead of just the lightsaber welding ones.

because everyone wants to be a jedi, dark jedi, and sith. That is, and will always be, the constant three to expect in any RP that allows force users. The Kilian Rangers are probably not going to happen, because if i recall right, there are only 20 at any given time.

Well, as this is open-ended, we cant restrict them, which I'd rather not anyhow. Anything higher than Advanced shouldn't be allowed though, and if it is Advanced, then it should be strictly screened for canoncy, especially if its a Sith or Dark Jedi.
With a story like this, itd be hard enough to fit anyone unaffiliated in, I'm having a hard time figuring out how to keep my bounty hunter in the action before I set him up as a character.
And Nelo, its 5, and its even more unlikely then you think , was just using an example.

Well, besides the three mentioned, there's not that much distinctive groups of Force users. Dathomiri witches and darkside prophets usually don't make much of a deal.
Although, Cale's terrorist leader beign a prophet of the dark side would be in a way a cliche, but fun, twist.

Des I think you've miss understood the point of much of the plot thus far we've decided upon. The New Republic and Imperial Remnant are at a stalemate, there is a de facto cease fire in place between the two sides as if by mutual agreement that one will not attack unless the other makes the first move. Plus there are so few jedi in time frames previous to around 15-16 ABY that we can't really validate having any force users at all. At the height of the old republic when it had a thousand sectors they had perhaps a few thousand jedi, now in the New Republic the number of jedi could be counted on a single hand until Luke gets the Academy working.
Me and Cale were extensively discussing the Sector and some logical limitations to implement for the RP. Among them being a simple cap of two jedi in the RP. We decided that in order to allow such a thing without it seeming incredulous that it'd be far better to move the time frame further after Endor.
After that decision we needed a few criteria to make the RP plot we've decided upon work.
1. The Empire must be unified under a single head of state.
2. The Empire and New Republic must be at a time of relative peace.
3. The New Republic must be committed elsewhere in order to give the Empire a fighting chance.
Taken all together we feel that the best fit being 17 BBY concurrent with the Black Fleet Crisis.

Thanks a lot for killing all credibility for any of my characters there. Nice to know my opinion matters. stare
Don't take it the wrong way. I'm kinda irritated IRL because I feel like crap and it's kinda wrecking things for me.
The point is, I was planning my characters for months beforehand on this, and it keeps seeming like everyone wants a setup that makes them all unusable.
My Jedi Shadow would at least be Knight level, with my Sith-esque character being an undiscovered Force adept that just uses Force Persuasion type seduction like Siren does, but that one I can live with being a NFU if absolutely needed, but I dunno if I can work her the same. The big one's Nemesis, because she'd effectively be the strongest of any Jedi/Sith at this point, especially considering the lack of numbers on both sides. This however, would be offset by the fact that she's more or less retired from everything and merely acts as a mentor, keeping an eye on my Shadow.
