Elanchana Utakan Elanchana I test everyone I come across who says they're a phan. That's how I sort out the inexperienced from the even slightly experienced. Me: What's the Phantom's name? Them: Um...wth? (Lizzy: Gerard?) Me: You ignorant fool! HIS NAME IS ERIK! YOU ARE NOT A TRUE PHAN! RAAWR! Or... Me: What's the Phantom's name? Them: ...Erik! Me: Yay! ^^ *hugs* I'd be asking a whole lot more than that, but then again I only know one Phan where I live and I work for him from time to time. But hey, it's a good start. It just proves that they're not a beginner. And it also proves that they are familiar with the book, or with people who know the book. If I want phanchat, I want all I can get. Well, it isn't the ultimate test though. Many people who aren't real phans can pick up the name easily from Wikipedia or fanfics. So it's a start, true, but not a true determining factor.

Thorn Venatrix Same thing in my eyes. I've read some pretty disturbing statistics about the decline in literacy among Americans. In the back of my Leroux book, there is a page that said "By the year 2000, 2/3 of Americans will be illiterate" I'm thinking, "WTF? 2000? It's kinda 2007!" (Then again, this proves that the end of the world some computer geeks predicted in 1999 wouldn't happen, even though it didn't anyway.) That was back...a long time ago. I forget exactly when that copy was published.

Check the printing date?
That's rather amusing. People may be dumb, but we're not that dumb.

I think it's the area the person lives in and, I'm not being racist, whether they're a minority or not. Being around one of the minorities 5 days a week, 8 hours a day and being involved gets me thinking.

Off topic, yes, but do you happen to be the member formerly known as Phantom of the Penguin, Penguin?

Number two is bad to me. Whenever I see the name "Eric," I go into Crow Fanatic mode. Then I see that the person is referring to Erik and I get very....."frustrated".
Erik Eric
Quite a difference.

Eric is the more common spelling of the name. Erik is a derivitive. But what gets me is with both the c and k. I have NEVER seen ANYONE spell it "Erick".

People who have read SK: OMG That's so funny! People who haven't: Erm...what?

For number 3...if you are referring to the movie, that's because he CAN"T sing. I mean, the guy has a nice voice and all, but he's nothing compared to Michael Crawford. He just doesn't have Phantom voice.
