She resisted saying anything, but she didn't take off her glove. She did shift her concentration, though, to an area as small as she could make it. Her chakra started to move very fast.

He nodded. "Good. Faster, now." He moved his hand closer to hers, the flame flickered slightly.

She moved it faster, though this was already approaching as fast as her human self had ever moved chakra before. With a sudden flash, something bright gold burst from her and disappeared from the dojo. She blinked, then shrugged and went back to concentrating.

"Good! Good!" He said, nodding. He held his hand out, then, in one very swift motion, flipped his hand over and ran it an inch over the ball of chakra. The flame spun, intertwining itself with the moving chakra. For an instant, it looked as though it would die, but milliseconds before the flame was gone, it kicked up again, wrapping around the ball of moving chakra Nyl had produced. The flame slowly changed colors, instead of a natural red/orange, it now became a blue/purple tint, before flashing white and returning to it's natural color. "Your chakra has been infused with Ho, now. Don't be surprised if you feel a slight bit of soreness tommorrow. It won't be severe, but it might feel like you have a slight sunburn. That's just the chakra flowing through you getting used to the higher temperature's you'll encounter and be able to endure. You can stop focusing your chakra to one point now, if you wish."

"But if I let it go...won't it explode, or something?"

He smiled and shook his head. "No, of course not. Fire doesn't cause explosions. Mass fuel does." He stood up and popped his knees. "But as soon as you do, the chakra will evaporate. Not all of it, though. As with normal chakra, the signature returns to your body, simply leaving a mark of itself in the surrounding air. Your signature now bears the signs of Ho. As well as Ijutsu, and any other elements you're familier with. You can now, as you said earlier, 'create fire.'" He smiled at her.

She did let it go, and the fire disappeared. She smiled the tiniest fraction. "Create fire, huh? I might like that. ...But you didn't tie any emotions into this."

He shook his head some. "No, not this time. Like fire, I like my teaching to be unpredictable. Your next lesson may, or may not, include any emotion. I like emotions, but I didn't include one in this for two reasons: The burn from the last lesson are still well with my mind(He winked at her after this), and two, there wasn't really any emotion that could improve this lesson all-too-well. Fear? Anger? Love? This was very basic, moving chakra at a very high rate. Basically, you didn't need an emotion to push this along."

She looked back at him with much of that old sadness in her eyes. "Why do you think I wouldn't take off my gloves?"

"Because your hands are scarred, and you didn't want them to burn again, I'm assuming."

"Assuming is dangerous, Sephiroth. It can make all involved look like fools."
She pulls off her right glove and holds out her hand. It's rough, but not nearly as scarred as Seph's are.

He nodded. "Then why did you not wish to remove your gloves?"

"Because this is not what you intended. Because I have violated your wishes, despite it not being under my control, and you are at this moment my sensei and can punish me for it."
She met his eyes squarely, though hers were still sad.

He blinked some. He had never punished anyone before, even as a sensei. He frowned at her. "You know it wouldn't have made any difference. Your hands wouldn't have been harmed in this lesson anyway. It was a suggestion, to see if direct contact with the air would effect the speed of your chakra. What you're doing is seeing if I'm treating you unlike any other student of mine. Or seeing how I'll react when encountered with a problem. I can't imagine why else you would bring up such a minute detail."

She put her glove back on and shook her head. "No. I stopped testing you. It...wasn't worth it. I knew you'd pass anything I threw at you. ...What is it I've done that makes everyone think I'm always testing their reactions to things?"
