Shimagakure Fights Back! BGM: Naruto OST: Fang
Sukotto was quite happy to see Xyn and Muunin arrive. The fact that the pair showed up nearly doubled the squad's numbers, giving them a much better chance of completing the mission safely. Before either of the two girls had a chance to answer the boy, the squad encountered their first sighting of an infected creature. The Uchiha had hoped to brief the squad before being attacked, but a shinobi cannot predict everything and must always adapt when necessary. It seemed as though the infection had mutated a few frogs into a sickly and bloated state. The disease had also raised their levels of aggression, which Sukotto had feared. He took note of their ill-colored skin, and figured that the infection could have potentially leaked into the frog's mucus producing glands, which meant that there was a chance that they'd be dangerous to touch. Before he could warn the squad of this, three of the large frogs surrounded the Chuunin and lunged at the him.
The frogs' movements were noticeably slower than many of the opponents the Uchiha had fought, so he didn't bother to call forth his full power. With ease, Sukotto avoided all three of their assaults and lunged backwards to avoid a second attempt for the time being, allowing him a bit of time to speak to his team. "There's no saving these creatures. Avoid their attacks and then strike back against one of the creatures nearest to your position! They are weak individually, so you shouldn't need to use teamwork to defeat them! Also, avoid touching them if you can, I suspect that their skin is dangerous to touch." Sukotto beamed on the inside. 'This is it,' he thought silently, 'my first real mission as a squad leader. I shall make you proud, Ichi.' Sukotto planned to stay out of this fight as much as possible so that he could observe the squad's abilities more carefully.
Strategy formulated: +3 To Xyn, Munnin, Akiko, and Nadeshiko's first rolls
Sukotto's recommendations: Attack each frog individually and avoid using teamwork unless it's necessary. If possible, avoid touching them directly.
Note: If you're defending, you can roll the number of dice equal to the number of attacks used against you. However, if you're attacking and you're below level 5, you can only roll one die.

She noticed the boy from earlier, who had now introduced himself as Douken Xyn, and his pet bird as Munin. Nadeshiko regarded Munin with a good deal more interest than Xyn, but neither she nor Akiko had time to exchange formalities. Before she even had time to introduce herself, a group of grotesquely slimy and unusually large frogs appeared. From their appearance and beady little glares, it was obvious that they had been infected. Nadeshiko sighed in her mind, thinking that they would have made for a nice meal if they weren't infected. Then she quickly took that thought back, because she wasn't sure if she how much she would actually like it if the frogs' normal appearances were anything similar to what she was seeing now. She listened as Sukotto told them what to do. Okay...so eradicating the lagoon of this lot's existence without touching them directly. It sounded easy, until TWO frogs turned on her. She was quite sure she was the weakest one out of everyone in the area. Could these things detect weakness? But if that was the case, than three of them wouldn't have made their way to Sukotto, who dodged their attacks without any effort. She, however, was another case entirely. One frog in particular was giving her a mucus-covered evil eye. Nadeshiko couldn't help but shudder. Wait. WHY THE HELL WAS SHE INTIMIDATED BY A FROG?!? She glared back at it, but it just flapped one eyelid, which was even creepier than plain, pure and simple staring, and while she was flinching at it, the second frog came at her, smacked her on the lower left of her arm (which was bare skin), then clung to it with his sticky black tongue. Nadeshiko suppressed the urge to yell at it, and began frantically trying to shake it off her sleeve, but it didn't even make the frog bat an eye.

Before he had even realized it, the infected creatures had somehow formed a surprise attack. He didn't react at first, not even when the strange noise came from one of several of his peripheral blindsides. He didn't have enough time to take in the natural sounds to distinguish something so minor. It quickly seemed... that Munin's cry really was a bad omen. The frogs had appeared immediately after he arrived, a fact that formed a great annoyance since he figured he should have noticed such a thing happening. As he turned to size up this threat, one of the creatures seemed to fix its stare on him. It wasn't until Sukotto gave his words of advice that Xyn could finally push his muscles to react. His first instinct was to protect the younger shinobi who were now behind him, but he couldn't protect both the girls at the same time. Dripping with such a fowl liquid... this was the reason for the vaccinations. It seemed that only with Sukotto's encouragement was Xyn able to face these creatures, but now he knew what he had to do. Even if they had to fight individually, he knew his purpose after the events of the Spring, and even now while seeing its aftereffects. He'd protect everyone here if he could, but first he had to protect himself.
Taking a step back and twisting his head so that his hair was flung from his face, Xyn looked the frog striaght in the eyes, pulling a shuriken from the pocket on his leg with his right hand while the left flung his cloak open, the weapon taking aim quickly.Distracted by the attack, Xyn had lost track of Munin, and the raven didn't have time to fly back to his partner's shoulder. Nadeshiko was already being attacked, so Munin had no choice but to stay at Akiko's side while his flew around her, letting out his own version of a battle shriek to insure the girl that he would fight at her side. Xyn had decided to worry about himself for the time being, but hearing Munin caused the boy to look back at the raven after the shuriken had been thrown. Was it a good idea for them to fight separately? Munin started to wonder if staying by the unknown girl was a good idea. Xyn was sure to protect him... but maybe that was why he needed to stay away. Munin at least had enough skill to help this girl, and Xyn was definitely fine on his own. It was probably best if Xyn didn't have an extra body to shield as he normally did with Munin on his shoulder. Xyn: Resisting Frog #8 Intimidate 1d20 + Sense(9) +Int(7) +3 (Sukkoto's help)= 21DC: 20 Attacking Frog #8 1d20 + Throw(10) + Agi(2) = 20Munin: +1 to Akiko's next roll

Akiko stepped back upon seeing these creatures. She... didn't know what they were, but they looked dangerous. They looked terribly sick, and it didn't seem like there was any hope for them. She kept her distance... she didn't want these things to get much closer. This crazy bird wasn't helping her nerves at all... it kept making this terrifying screech, and it was getting on her nerves. Its claws were a little sharp, and her robe wasn't exactly protected. "H-hey, get off, that hurts!" she whispered to the beast. The stresses of battle, in addition to this distraction, were getting to be too much for her. She needed to get back and detach herself from the fight. She looked behind her and saw a small copse not too far away. "I'm sorry, I... I don't want to be a burden," she cried to her peers. She turned and ran from the battlefield, climbing up the tree as quickly as she could manage.
((She does have a plan/reason for climbing the tree, but right now it appears as if she's running from the battlefield.)) -1 to allies' next rolls

Just as his plans of briefing the team before taking on the infected wilderness had changed, so did Sukotto's plans of staying out of the fight. One of the infected creatures had latched itself onto Nadeshiko, and the Uchiha knew that the girl would have a difficult time escaping from the thing, so he simply had to take action. In a short moment, the Chuunin covered the ground between himself and Nadeshiko. He squinted his eyes at the frog, carefully taking aim as he quickly neared the girl. Once he was within range, Sukotto launched a side kick aimed directly at the creature latched onto Nadeshiko's arm. Since he assumed this would be a direct hit, Sukotto would then begin another dash towards Akiko's direction, as he also needed to help her with something that had been delayed by the frog's ambush.
Sukotto arrived at the base of the tree and withdrew from his pocket one of the vaccines that Himoto had given him for anyone who hadn't stopped by the village center. He had planned on giving the girl her shot while he was briefing the squad, but that hadn't even happened as a result of the frogs' assault. "Akiko, I have a shot for you! It will help to protect you against the infection that the frogs carry!" With that said, Sukotto tossed the vaccine up to Akiko as accurately as he could. The Uchiha wasn't quite accurate when it came to throwing things, but he gave it his best shot, and didn't have time to climb the tree after her. "Don't be frightened, Akiko, I will watch over the four of you, but we will need your help" Sukotto said reassuringly, figuring that she had gotten a bit unnerved and had ran from the battle for safety.
((Aeroden, Frog Three's attack was a "Fight" attack (an animal's version of taijutsu), not a "Grapple". We will just go with it though.))
Phoenix Form Attack Against Frog Three [1d20+45(Taijutsu)-1(Distraction caused by what appears to be Akiko fleeing)= 46]
Throw to Akiko [1d20+6(Throw+Strength Mod)= ] Akiko may choose to catch the vaccine if she wishes. She can roll 1d20+Focus+End Mod for this. If she chooses to, it will take the place of her attack roll. Focus DC: 40-26(Sukotto's Throw Roll)= 14
Note: Nadeshiko and Akiko must now make one attacking post against the frogs. They don't have to attack, but they must make some sort of roll. Akiko has the option to catch the vaccine instead.
Phoenix Form (Hōsenka Katachi) Description: A mind without intention is required to harness the true power of this fighting style. In the absence of doubt and fear, only action remains and this form certainly trains one to let go of such hindrances. Like the bird of fire that this taijutsu is named for, trainees will, in a sense, be reborn after completing their training. A focus on the legs for offensive strikes and the hands and arms for a defense by means of quick deflections is achieved by focusing on agility rather than strength. The primary stance is held by completely relaxing one's arms and balancing seventy percent of one's weight on one leg whilst holding the other in front of the body, barely touching the ground and ready to strike. Cp Cost: N/A Damage: 1 to 5 + Agi Mod + 1 per 10 Ranks Taijutsu Requirement: 10 Ranks in Control, 30 Ranks in Taijutsu, 30 ranks in Agility Avoid: Dodge Special: Agility Mod replaces Strength Mod in all rolls and total skill that deals with taijutsu. User cannot use Tumble to dodge while in combat.

The frog on Nadeshiko's arm takes a direct hit from Sukotto's kick, which sends it flying off of the girl's arm. It thumps against the ground, bouncing a few times before finally rolling to a stop. While at first it appears that the frog has been killed, it actually manages to pick itself up from the ground. While it has suffered serious damage, the infected creature still manages to weakly hop towards Nadeshiko once again.

Akiko watched the battle from the treetop. It seemed that Scotty-san had something that might help with the fight. She could tell he was about to throw it, but being on a limb at the moment complicated things. She clung to the branch and tried to reach out... but she nearly fell. She ended up hanging from the branch upside-down, her grip barely able to sustain her. As the syringe came flying her way, she reached out a hand, now only hanging on by one arm and both legs. It was tricky, but she caught the thing. She decided to use it immediately; perhaps it would combat her uneasiness about fighting the beasts. She locked her legs around the limb and dropped her other arm before stabbing it with the syringe. She felt a pronounced pain as she depressed the syringe, injecting the antibodies into her system. Then, she let the needle fall to the forest floor. It took a few tries, but she finally managed to swing her arms back up and climb on top of the limb. She stayed there for now, hoping the pain would subside.

After attempting to stare down the boy that stood before it, the frog began to hop towards him, but unfortunately for it, it didn't quite strike any fear into the boy's heart. Seiko had heard from the new Kage, that this mission was being held in the polluted areas around the village. If he didnt know where that was he could sure as hell have found it from all the screaming. Jumping from branch to branch the light Chunin made his way to a very interesting show. It seemed he was right in coming to watch something so interesting. This Uchiha, was up to his neck in trouble. Sensing the chakra it seemed he had two students and a gennin. Not much of a squad, but if the Uchiha was anything like all the rumors said he was it should be fun to watch. Sitting back in the branch, Seiko kept his eye on the action. If help was needed he was sure the Chunin would know he was there.
